Millions of years ago was the bottom of the sea and the natural changes formed salt water lagoons that when dry, left deposits of calcium sulfate, forming a desert that looked like snow… if not for the intense sun and warm weather. It is also a place full of life: The mesquite trees, yucca, sotol (Desert Spoon) and biznaga (barrel cactus) plants grow in the middle of the desert. Even NASA considers it as an ecosystem that can help us understand the evolution of primitive earth. It is like living in prehistory!

Los Prismas Basálticos se formaron hace millones de años, cuando un derrame de lava se enfrió rápidamente. Estas columnas

de píedra están bañadas por cuatro casacadas y rodean a la barranca de Santa María Regla, en el Pueblo Mágico de Huasca de Ocampo. ¡Es un lugar sacado de un cuento! Por ejemplo, cuando el barón Alexander Von Humboldt –un explorador apasionado por este país- quedó tan impresionado por su belleza, las dibujó a lápiz en 1803, llevándolas a Londres. Además, hay actividades como pesca de truchas (¡las puedes pedir preparadas con el sazón hidlaguense!), bajar por la tirolesa y haer recorridos por el mágico lugar. ¡Tienes que estar ahí!

The Basaltic Prisms were formed millions of years ago, when a spill of lava rapidly cooled down. These stone columns are

showered by four waterfalls and surrounded by the Barranca de Santa Maria Regla, in the Magical Town of Huasca de Ocampo. It´s like a place out of a fairy tale! For example, Baron Alexander Von Humboldt - a passionate explorer of this country - felt so impressed by its beauty that he drew them in pencil in 1803, taking the drawings afterwards to London. There are also other activities such as: trout fishing (you can have them prepared with an Hidlaguense seasoning!), going down a zipline and going through this magical place. You have to be there!

Valle de Bravo está a 85 kilómetros de Toluca, la capital del Estado de México, y a 145 de la Ciudad de México, y su clima

El encuentro es una plataforma que cada vez cobra más relevancia en cuanto a promoción y negocios, en la que compradores de 60

Una fruta que refleja a México es la Pitaya: Tiene mucho color, es diferente y especial, a toda la gente le resulta muy atractiva y, por supuesto,

disfrutarla es una experiencia deliciosa.La Pitaya crece en un cactus resistente a las sequías y la época de mayor cosecha es a lo largo de la primavera; además, tiene una flor que es tan bella como breve: Sus largos pétalos -a veces blancos, en otras ocasiones color rosa- se abren al amanecer y a medida que empiezan a sentir el calor del sol, se deshidratan súbitamente. Pero lo que sí permanece más tiempo es el fruto, que tarda de cuatro a ocho meses en formarse, según la temperatura del medio ambiente; tiene forma redondeada y está cubierta por una cáscara color verde, con espinas, que debe quitarse con cuidado. (Por cierto, de allí viene su nombre, ya que la palabra Pitaya quiere decir “fruta escamosa”). Lo realmente delicioso es su pulpa suave y dulce, que contiene diminutas semillas negras; el 90% está compuesto de agua, es rica en hierro, calcio, fósforo; también contiene vitamina B, C y E, y se da en llamativos colores, como el rojo, blanco, rosa y amarillo.

A fruit that can represent Mexico is the pitaya (dragon fruit): it is different, special and has a lot of color, which makes it enticing for most

people and, of course, enjoying it is a true delight. The pitaya fruit grows on a cactus resistant to droughts and its harvesting high season is during spring. In addition, it has a flower that is as beautiful as short lived: their long petals -

sometimes white, other times pink- open at dawn and as soon as they begin to feel the warmth of the

sun, they suddenly dry out.But what lasts more time is its fruit, which takes

up to four to eight months to grow, depending on the environment’s temperature. It has a rounded shape and is

covered by a green skin, with prickles, which must be removed with care, hence the name pitaya which means “scaly fruit”. What

really stands out is its delicious soft and sweet pulp, which contains tiny black seeds; 90% of the fruit is composed of water, it is rich in iron, calcium, phosphorous, and also contains vitamin B, C and E giving it its striking colors, such as red, white, pink and yellow.
