Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,So long lives this and this gives life to thee.
The number of lines is each box is dispensed with. This juxtaposition hypothesizes that the sonnet is a kind of match between nature and art.
What is the purpose of the flattery?How will the beloved feel when told
the speaker’s blazoning will last forever?
Surely the speaker means for the compliment to be felt—and returned.
