About School

Bal Bharati Public School, Rohiniis a premier educational institution in North Delhi.

The school has state of art facilities housed in a modern building. The sprawling

green lawn encapsulates a botanical garden. The school is equipped with well

stocked e-library, laboratories, computers, audio-visual equipments, special studio

for visual and performing arts facilities for indoor and outdoor games including

health and fitness center, separate swimming pools for junior and senior students

and medical center. The dedicated, conscientious and well trained faculty ensures

History of School

The origin of BBPS Rohini dates back to August 1989. Nestled at Harsh Vihar, the

first admission was done for classes Mont I & II. The school shifted to a modern

building with a better infrastructure at sector XIV Rohini in 1995. The first batch of

class XII passed out of the school in 2002. Today, the school is of the most

prestigious schools in Delhi that imparts quality education to its students. The

school completed its 25 years of its existence in 2014.

Administration

The School Managing Committee is headed by Mr. Kanishk Khullar, the Chairman.

Mrs.Suruchi Gandhi is the Secretary (Manager) and Mrs. Geeta Gangwani is the

Principal. The Principal is supported by the Vice-Principal, Mrs.Bandhana Sharma

and three Headmistresses, Mrs. Meera Wadhwa,Mrs. Alka Chadha, Mrs. Anjana

and Administrative Officer Mr.A.B.Chakrobarty and Estate Officer Mr. A.Terry.

A team of qualified and experienced teachers along with dedicated administrative

staff, transport and support staff facilitate the smooth functioning of school.

Staff

The school has 128 highly qualified and experienced teachers for imparting

education and guidance to the children. Staff members regularly attend workshops

to hone their skills for teaching as well as mentoring the students effectively. They

are also encouraged and supported to pursue online courses to enhance

professional competence. In addition, the school functions smoothly with the help

of the contractual staff, office staff and the support staff.

About the School-Accolades and

Achievements

The School has reinstated itself among the best schools of India in the latest

survey conducted by Education World Magazine (September, 2015) – 9th

position among top 10 schools rates for academic reputation.

The School has once again figured in the list of top 100 Schools of India in the

survey conducted by The Education World with a state ranking of 48.

The School scored 5th position in the top 10 schools of North Region of Delhi in

the survey conducted by Times Now.

Ms. Alka Chadha, Headmistress Primary has been awarded the Teachers’

State Award 2015 instituted by Federation of Public Schools given by the

Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Shri

Manish Sisodia.

PARAKH NGO organised a school award ceremony on 9thJanuary 2016 at Hotel

Pullman, Aerocity New Delhi where 120 schools were selected for awards for

excellence in 20 different categories. Our school bagged the first prize in

academics.

Ms. Meera Wadhwa(HMI) and Ms.Smita Sharma Dabas(TGT English) were

selected as members of Syllabus Moderation Committee by the Govt. of NCT

of Delhi and attended meetings regarding the same at SCERT in the months of

December and January.

As part of Teenovators 2015 program, the Regional Event: The Delhi

Challenge was held at Sri Devi Kamakshi Mandir, on 17th December, 2015.

About 11-12 schools teams along with their faculties attended this event. In Delhi

region, 22 schools participated where our school was selected for the final

third stage.

BBPS, Rohini participated in the Annual Flower Show 2016, conducted by the

University of Delhi. The school gardens were inspected by the Garden

Committee. In keeping with our tradition, BBPS Rohini won 32 prizes along

with that for the Best Gardener Award.

Our School was selected for receiving the ‘Best Hygiene School of the year

award’ by National Institute of Cleanliness Education and Research in

association with Afro-Asian-American Chamber of Commerce,

Occupational Research and Development. The award ceremony was held on

21st March 2016 in the auditorium of India International Centre, Lodhi Estate.

Shivangi Kalra of class XI D stood II in the Senior Girls category in the State

Level Painting Competition held in the month of January, 2016 at RPVV

Shalimar Bagh.

Aksh Garg of class VIII D stood I among the 50 students declared winners of the

VI National Level Painting Competetion State Level Competition organised by

Ministry of Water Resources. He got a cash prize of Rs. 5,000/- and will be

representing Delhi at the National Level Competetition to be held at Delhi.

Dhananjay Verma of class X has been selected for the second round of NTSE

2016. He secured 5th rank among the 64 students selected from Delhi.

Mr. Puneet Kumar, Badminton Coach attended 20th Asia Cup Hiroshima

International Soft Tennis Championship which was held at Hiroshima, Japan

from 9th to 14th March, 2016.

Infrastructure

School Campus

A plot of land measuring 3.5 acres was acquired in April, 1994. The impressive red

school building was thereafter built upon it to house the academic and

administrative blocks. In addition to the building, the campus also comprises of a

multipurpose playfield, utility complex, a skating ring and badminton courts. The

administrative block houses the Principal’s office, a reception lounge, the school

office and a conference room. The construction of the new block has been

completed to meet the requirement of Classes XI & XII. In addition to the class

rooms, modern well-equipped Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths and General

Science labs have been built. There are 3 computer labs equipped with the latest

computers with multimedia & internet browsing facility. Culture and technology

co-exist in our school and has plethora of activity rooms like art rooms, music

rooms, dance rooms, recording studio and the computer labs. The school also

boasts of exhaustive libraries which are planned and stocked according to the

tastes and requirements of the students and the staff. The School has two

swimming pools. The main pool which is used by the seniors and the toddler pool

is used by the junior students. Recording Room has been operational in the school

for more than three years now. It gives an added advantage to the music

department of the school to record songs, dialogues, recitations and the script of

Principal’s report and innumerable school functions. In an endeavor to

“GOGREEN”, the school maintains a Vermicompost Pit, a horticulture Garden and

a paper recycling machine. Plantation and Cleanliness drives are a regular feature

in the school.

Laboratories

The school has well equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics and Biology. These laboratories give the students extensive practical experience to supplement the theories learnt in the classroom. The senior Physics Lab is equipped with interactive board while the Biology Lab and Senior Chemistry Lab have interactive boards.

Art Rooms

There are two Art rooms in the school to cater to the needs of different

departments. These rooms, tastefully decorated with drawings/paintings/artifacts

prepared by the students are the hub for students to express and hone their artistic

abilities.

Music and Dance Room

The school has well equipped Vocal Music room, Instrumental Music room and two Dance Room where the students are trained in various forms of performing arts. In addition, there are fully equipped recording studio and band room.

Libraries

The School has two well-equipped libraries with over 37,000 books on a variety of

subjects covering all age groups and their reading preferences including

encyclopedias, fiction, reference books etc. There is a separate reference section

and a reading room for teachers. A class library is maintained by the students

themselves in each section of classes Pre Primary I to XI. The school also

subscribes to about 30 periodicals generating a pool of knowledge for its students

and teachers equally. The school library is fully computerized to ease out the

process of issue of books. There is a separate student terminal on which students

can access the online catalogue module. A lot of emphasis is laid on the

inculcation of the habit of good reading and a library committee monitors the

overall progress.

Sports

The school takes special care of physical health, games and sports activities by

providing the required facilities and coaches for athletics, badminton, basketball,

tennis, cricket, gymnastics, taekwondo, roller skating, swimming, table tennis,

tennis, volleyball, yoga and chess. State of Art multiutility court with Proflex roof

is available. The School has two swimming pools. The main pool is used by the

seniors and the toddler pool is used by the junior students. The pool area is

equipped with shower rooms and separate changing rooms for boys and girls. The

school has a skating rink as well.

Monthly sports activities for Pre School and Pre Primary and intra class matches

for classes II to XII in different games are regularly held.

The students participation in the District, Zonal, CBSE cluster, State, Nationals,

SGFL and Inter School competitions provide a platform for healthy competition

where the young players strive to better their previous performances.

Medical Facilities

There is a well-equipped medical room in the school with a qualified doctor

available for consultations from 8.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. A fully trained nurse is also

available for round the clock assistance. The school has a tie up with Jaipur Golden

Hospital which through a team of specialists, monitors the health of all the

students. A complete health checkup is done for every student and their reports

are sent to the parents. Any deficiency or problem is brought to the notice of the

parents regularly for further action.

IT Enabled Classrooms

The school provides computer aided learning to all students. There are three

computer labs, one each for Primary, Middle and Secondary &Senior Secondary

classes. These air conditioned labs are well equipped with the latest generation

of computers and printers. Interactive Boards are available from Classes Pre

Primary to XII to enhance the quality of teaching and learning. Each classroom

has been equipped with a wall mounted display screen and a computer as well

as a whole range of course material incorporating the CBSE syllabus with

graphics, diagrams, illustrations and animations in 3D format. In addition, the

libraries and labs are also equipped with computers.

Safety & Security

Bal Bharati Public School, Rohini takes pride in providing a safe and secure

environment to all its children. As it becomes a good and reputed school, we take

special care about the safety measures in school. Some key features in this regard

are:-

Disaster management has been a part of the School Calendar since 2008.

Regular mock drills are conducted to ensure students are trained for timely

evacuation and mitigation. There is a task force committee at school that

monitors the security and safety of everyone in the school.

Electrical panels/fittings are checked and Electrical audit is conducted on the

regular basis.

A guard is posted outside swimming pool from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Teachers are put on bus duty to ensure safe journey for all the bus users.

Any student missing the bus/van is brought at the school office wherein the

guardian is informed. The student is made to sit at the reception /HM office

till the parent comes.

Visitor register is maintained at the gate and all visitors are given visitor

passes for security reasons.

Small children up to class V leave the class in pairs and not singles.

The roof of the school remains locked at all times.

The gates are manned by security guards 24*7.

All strategic points are covered by CCTV camera.

A houseman/ayah is stationed outside each toilet in block I (Pre Primary).

The information of the absentees is conveyed to the parent through SMS

facility on daily basis.

PA system is also available in Principal’s and Vice Principal’s office.

At the end of day, guards/peons/housemen check each classroom/washroom/play areato ensure no child is left behind.

Academics

Pre School/ Pre Primary At the pre-primary level, play way based educational programmes and learning by

doing method is followed. There are 10 well equipped training halls, where the tiny

tots learn in an informal way with the help of specially designed apparatus under

the supervision and guidance of trained and experienced teachers. Special

attention is paid to facilitate the physical, mental, emotional and social growth of

the child through a series of well-coordinated theme based activities. There is no

homework and every child is allowed to progress at his/her own pace.

Primary (Classes I-V)

At this stage, formal teaching of academic subjects such as English, Hindi, Maths, Social Studies, General Science and EVS is introduced. Stress is laid on balanced and harmonious development based on a judicious mix of academics with the help of smart class programmes following the CCE pattern of education (prescribed by the CBSE), creative art, physical education, yoga, educational tours, excursions and outings.

Middle (Classes VI-VIII)

There is an extension and further consolidation of the educational programme that

starts at the primary stage. Besides the academic subjects, a third language is

taught from Class VI to VIII. The third language offered is Sanskrit, German or

French. Students are encouraged to participate in creative arts such as dance,

drama, music and craft. Smart boards add to the quality of lessons in Class VI, VII

and VIII. The CBSE initiative of CCE has been taken up in right earnest in these

classes.

Secondary (Classes IX-X)

Students are assessed under the CCE scheme introduced by the Central Board of

Secondary Education. Regular formative and summative assessments ensure

continuous and comprehensive evaluation of both scholastic and co-scholastic

areas.

Senior Secondary (Classes XI-XII) At the plus two level, Science, Commerce and Humanities streams are offered along

with English as a core subject. The Science stream offers Physics, Chemistry, and

Mathematics with Biology/Computer Science/Economics / Psychology. In the

Commerce stream, the students have an option of studying Accountancy, Business

Studies, IP and Economics with or without Mathematics. There is provision of

studying Economics, Psychology, Political Science, Psychology, Mathematics and

History in the Humanities stream.

Work Experience/SUPW

Work experience activities have been arranged in Computer maintenance and

operations, Electronics, Industrial Chemistry, Horticulture, Journalism, Art & Craft,

Instrumental Music, Meal Planning and Community Service.

Academic Achievements

The school is known for its high academic standard evident from the outstanding

performance of the students at the All India Examinations. Every year a number of

students distinguish themselves by gaining admission to reputed institutions such

as IITs, DCE and Regional Colleges of Engineering, AIIMS, Delhi School of Planning

and Architecture. Result of the school in Class XII Board Examinations has always

been of a high order.

Promotion of life skills

Counselling

There is also a full time trained Counsellor for students with special needs and for

children going through emotional or personality problems. Direct interaction

between the parents and the counsellor are arranged to help the child overcome

the physical and mental challenges of growing up.

The school provides counselling in the following areas:

a) Counselling for students - We aim at preventive rather than a curative

approach to counselling. In this regard, the Life Skills Program at school covers

aspects such as decision making and assertiveness training for students of

classes VI-X. It is conducted by the counsellor and by peer moderators.

Structured outsourced life skills programmes are also conducted. In addition,

Career Counselling sessions through various seminars and career talks are

conducted regularly for students at 10+2 level, thereby enabling students to

make informed career choices.

b) Plan for special children The school has one Special Educator to devise a systematic plan for identification

and remediation of students with special needs like LD and ADHD. The school’s

Special Educator prepares Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for students with

special needs. Exclusive workshops for parents of these children are organized to

create awareness and gain support for effective implementation of their

individualized learning schedule. Modified curriculum and relaxation in marking

scheme are sanctioned as per need, as per CBSE guidelines.

c) Counselling for teachers - Workshops are organized for professional

enrichment of faculty members as well as to sensitize them to various issues

pertaining to students such as identification of special children, behavioral

concerns etc.

d) Counselling for parents - Counselling is provided to parents in order to inform

them about the innovative educational programs and other issues related to

their respective wards.

Value Education Programme

The school believes in inculcating values among students for their holistic

development in addition to theme based morning assembly programmes, activities

of Heritage Club and celebration of National and International Days.

Newspaper in Education

Programme

The NIE Program of the school is aimed at empowering the young learners to be

responsible global citizens of tomorrow. The Program encourages them to read

newspapers regularly so as to be aware of social, economic and political scenario

within the country and around the world.

The school has been a regular member of the PACE Program of The Hindustan

Times, the Newspaper in the Education program of The Times of India.

Clubs

The school has a number of clubs as a part of the life skills program.The skills

needed for life such as communication, decision–making, critical thinking,

managing emotions, assertiveness, self–esteem building, resisting peer pressure,

and relationship skills are taught with a common primary objective which is to bring

education closer to life.

The school has the following clubs:The school has a wide variety of clubs to

promote experiential learning to students. The Club activities, such asRoad Safety

Club,Readers Club and Theatre Club etc. promote creativity and imagination

amongst students. Sanskriti Club aims to perpetuate the rich cultural legacy and

heritage of the country; while science based clubs as Astronomy Club and

Robotics Club etc. develop scientific temperament and analytical skills of learners.

The Environment Club and Interact Club help to develop empathy and promote

socially responsible attitudes among learners.

Minimum Fitness Programme

Under the aegis of the Sports Council the school has implemented the minimum

fitness programme under which cycling (upto class PP II) and swimming (upto class

V) are compulsory for all students. Each child is encouraged to play minimum two

games. In addition intra class matches are held, specialized coaching in different

games provided, the health of each child assessed and fitness cards are issued.

Workshops and Seminars

A wide array of workshops are regularly organized for students, teachers and

parents that not only help to give a hands-on experience but also motivate and

inspire the learners to be worthy human beings.

Workshops for Students- Various workshops on career options, value based

issues, MUN training, Cyber Crime, Road rage etc are organized for the benefit of

students.

Workshops for Teachers – To create a spirit of enquiry among the faculty

members and to keep them abreast of changing paradigms, in-service training

programs and workshops are a regular feature.

Workshops for Parents –Workshops are organized to keep the parents updated

on changing patterns of the education system and help them deal with age specific

issues.

House System

The students of the school are divided into eight Houses each at the Primary,

Middle, Secondary and Senior Secondary level. The House is managed by

Housemasters. It is compulsory for every student to be a member of a House. The

main idea of the House System is to inculcate in our students the essential qualities

of leadership, team work, co-operation, mutual understanding and self-reliance.

Various Inter-House activities are held for this purpose throughout the year.

The houses are Amity, Empathy, Peace, Truth, Equality, Freedom, Unity and

Wisdom.

Prefectorial System

A Student Council is selected each year and appointed via a formal investiture

ceremony. This team works closely with the authorities to support the institution

in its everyday functioning. This student body acts as a link between the teachers

and the taught and also takes on the responsibility of guarding/leading the

students appropriately. The core group of this body of students comprises of the

main office bearers, namely the Head Boy, Head Girl and Sports Captains. In

addition, each department selects a capable team of prefects to carry forward the

tasks at hand.

School Publications

Sagarika(Annual)-The school publication ,Sagarika has been a medium for news

and views of Bal Bharati Public School ,Rohini. Sagarika in its present form has some

regular features. A large section of the Magazine is reserved for creative

composition of the students.

Sagarika Newsline-A departmental newsletter is published, covering the

important school news. Thematic newsletters are also published.

School Table Calendar- The school table calendar published every year acts as a

International Dimensions

The school aims at nurturing global citizens through intra school activities. Students

are familiarized with various cultures and lifestyles while also getting an exposure

to global issues. Twice recipient of the International School Award, an accreditation

scheme of the British Council, the school has added an international dimension to

the curriculum. International projects through Max Mueller Bhavan, British Council

and Australian High Commission have helped to create ties with Germany, the UK

and Australia respectively. Exchange programmes with schools in Denmark,

Germany provide firsthand experience of culture of these countries through host

stay programmes. In addition video conferences with schools in Europe and other

countries are held through ‘Face to Faith’ and ‘EUmIND’ programmes.

Parent Teacher Association

All parents are enrolled as members of the PTA. A strong, active, resourceful and

deeply committed Parent Teacher Association meets from time to time to extend

Awards and Fee Concessions

The school provides awards to meritorious students in academics as well as for

outstanding performance in music, dance, art & painting, games & sports etc. every

ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR PRE PRIMARY – I (PRE-SCHOOL) 2017- 2018

Application forms for admission to Pre-Primary I (Pre-School), Session 2017-2018 can only be

submitted online on the school website www.bbpsrohini.orgupto 31st January 2017. The last

date for submission of online confirmation form along with the Pay Order / Demand Draft of

Rs.25/- infavour of “Bal Bharati Public School, Rohini” is 1stFebruary 2017 till 2:00 pm. The

same is to be dropped in the drop box placed at the school entry gate no. 1.

Age criteria : minimum 3 years as on 31.03.2017

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADMISSION TO PRE PRIMARY I (PRE SCHOOL) 2017-2018

Age of the child should be minimum 3 year as on 31-03-2017.

Get the DD/Pay Order of Rs. 25/-(non-refundable)made in favour of “Bal Bharati Public School,Rohini” before filling the Online Registration form for admission to Pre Primary I (2017-2018).

Parent should use google maps to calculate the distance from school. Instructions for using google maps are available on the school website (example attached). However the distance measured by the parents will be verified by the school at the time of admission, if selected.

Last date of online registration is 31st January 2017 .Parents are required to drop the duly signed confirmation form along with the Pay Order / Demand Draftand print out of the distance calculated by google maps in the drop box placed at the School gate no.1 upto 1st February 2017till 2:00 pm.

Please ensure that the Child’s name, Father’s /Mother’s name, mobile number and the registration number is written at the back of the Pay Order/ Demand Draft .No other document except DD/PO and printout of the google map is to be attached with the confirmation form.

School will not be responsible for non-receipt of Confirmation form sent by post.

There will no interaction with parent/child.Also no weightage will be given for parents’ educational

qualification, occupation or financial status.

School prospectus are available on school website.

Incomplete or incorrect application will be rejected.

Aadhaar card for the child is mandatory at the time of admission, if selected.

Please do not fill more than one form, else the child’s candidature will get cancelled.

The school will not entertain any request for the corrections in the entries made by the parents in the online form.

Fee Structure/Fee Schedule/rules

School fees payment schedule 1. 1st Quarter : April to June

2. 2nd Quarter: July to September

3. 3rd Quarter: October to December

4. 4th Quarter: January to March

RULES FOR PAYMENT

(i) Fee is payable for 12 months irrespective of the date of admission.

(ii) Payment should be made between the 1st and the 20th of the 1st month of each quarter.

MODE OF PAYMENT OF FEES

Collection of fees would be done through ECS. The first run would take place on 10th of the first

quarter and a re-run would be on 20th of the same month, only in case the amount is not

credited in our account on the first run. However, the 1st fees at the time of admission is to be

paid only through a demand draft.

TRANSPORT FEES

Charges are payable for 11 months.

The amount is to be deposited along with the school fees for every quarter.

Uniform It is compulsory for all students to wear prescribed school uniform. All items of summer and

winter uniform, other than shoes will be available at the uniform counter in the school. The

parents are requested to purchase the uniform only from the school counter in order to

ensure correctness of material and tailoring, cut and style as well as price.

School/Office timings

The school follows two different set of timings for smooth functioning of setup. The timings are

as follows:-

PRE-SCHOOL & PRE-PRIMARY 8.45 AM TO 1.15 PM

I-XII 7.55 AM TO 2.15 PM

The students are monitored by the teachers at each exit point.

Office timings 8.00 AM TO 3.15 PM

Bus facility

The school owns a fleet of CNG buses for providing transport facilities to the students on

selected routes. For the safety of children, there are teacher in charges in the bus. School owned

buses are run strictly as per Supreme Court guidelines and are fitted with GPS.
