FELTING

still damp. Afterwards it can be washed in wool wash

program. Different washing machines produce different

kind of felting result, test first with a swatch.

embroider 2 rows of stem sts around the eyes. Embroider

mouth and nose with stem sts in black.

Make 5 pompons for ”hair rolls” using red Sportsgarn (all

in same color), diameter approx. 5 cm (2 in).

Sew them on top and on slanting sides, 1 in the mid, and 2

on each side (see photo).

Felting: Put a small polythene bag inside each slipper.

Wash in a washing machine in 60 program. Use normal

detergent. Stretch slippers into shape while still damp,

leave to dry.

Note! Read through the instruction before getting started.

Motif on top of the foot: Using crochet hook size 5 mm,

make 3 motifs, (see earlier in the instruction), 1st motif is

worked as ”3rd

rnd for motif mid front”, and 2 others as”3rd

rnd for rest of the motifs”. Sew the 3 motifs tog into a band.

Sole: Using crochet hook size 4 mm, ch7 (7).

1st row: Turn with ch1, 1 sc to each st = 7 (7) sc.

2nd

row: Turn with ch1, 1 sc to each st, but inc 1 st to first

and last st = 9 (9) sc.

Rep 1st -2

nd row until you have altog. 17 (19) sc on a row.

Cont working in sc without inc, turn each time with ch1.

When sole measures approx. 23 (25) cm (9.1 (9.8) in), dec

1 st at each edge every 2nd

Slipper: Worked using crochet hook size 5 mm. First dc

Fasten yarn mid back with 1 sl st.

1st row: 94 (106) dc evenly across the sole, 47 (53) dc each

row: Turn, 1 dc to each dc.

Rep 2nd

row until you have worked altog. 3(4) dc-rows.

Next row: 27 (32) dc, 3 dc tog = dec 2 sts.

Turn, 3 dc tog, 1 dc to each st, = dec 2 sts. Con working in

the same way, dec 2 sts every row, until 22 (24) dc rem.

Cont working without dec until work measures approx. 29

Finishing: Join motif band to the slipper, work as foll, beg

from side nearest to you. Using crochet hook size 4 mm,

Gauge: 21 sts = 10 cm(4 in) over St st, using needles

size 4 mm. Check your gauge to ensure success.

Gauge after felting: 25-26 sts = 10 cm/4 in.

SLIPPERS

Slippers are worked in one piece, with seams mid on

top and back. Beg from upper edge. Using knitting

needles size 4 mm, cast on 32-36 sts (= one half).

Work back and forth in St st. When work measures

approx. 18-20 cm (7.1-7.9 in), cast on at one edge

every 2nd

row 2-3x5, 3x3 and 4x1 sts = 55-64 sts. Cont

working until work measures approx. 35-37 cm (13.8-

14.6 in). K 1 row (= WS) = mid under foot. Work

other side in reverse = instead of casting on sts, bind

off every 2nd

row 4x1, 3x3 and 2-3x5 sts = 32-36 sts.

Work approx. 18-20 cm (7.1-7.9 in) without dec. Bind

off.

Finishing: Fold slipper in double, wrong sides facing

each other. Sew mid back seam. Sew mid front seam,

leaving approx. 10 cm (4 in) split. Turn the slipper

inside out (= RS). Work same for the other slipper.

sts. Twist yarns on WS in order to avoid holes in the work.

When patt is ready, work approx. 10 cm (4 in) in light blue

yarn. Change to white yarn, and work 6 rows in Garter st.

Bind off. Using white yarn, pick up approx. 65 sts along

right edge, and work 6 rows in Garter st. Bind off. Work

same for the left edge.

Flowers

Using pink yarn, ch8, and join into ring with 1 sl st. 12 sc

into ring, end with 1 sl st to 1st sc beg of rnd. *Ch3, 1 dc to

next sc,1 dc to same dc, draw yarn through both dc, ch3, 1

sc to dc*, rep *-* across the rnd, end with 1 sl st to last dc.

Break yarn, and draw through the loop. Make altog. 4

flowers.

Sew on the flowers after felting the seat mat.
