B324 EVALUATION
EVALUATION
The individual evaluation is to be produced by the candidates under supervised conditions. The presentation of the evaluation may take the form of any one, or combination, of the following:
• a written commentary
• a slide presentation (PowerPoint, Keynote, Impress)
• a podcast – video and/or audio
Those candidates offering a written commentary should aim to write between 500–800 words.
A slide presentation (which centres may wish to video), should include 10–15 slides.
KEY QUESTIONS
1. Describe the process of creating your products. Annotate print screen pictures of some of the choices you made.
2. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
3. How does your media product represent particular social groups? Why did you represent them like this? Look back at your Pink and Rihanna essays to remind you about key words and ideas.
4. Describe your brand. How successful were your adverts at creating a positive brand image? What does your brand stand for (brand values)?
5. Who would be the audience for your media product? Primary and secondary audiences (demographics and psychographics.
6. How did you attract/address your audience (sensory pleasures; cognitive pleasures; vicarious pleasures; emotional pleasures; humour; sex tactics; shock tactics; look at your notes on Maslow and Young and Rubicam for ideas about audience needs)? Give examples of the best parts of your product.
7. How could you have attracted the audience in a better way? 8. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?9. Looking back at your products, what would you improve and why?
