WEALD CPS NEWSLETTER: FRIDAY 6th MARCH, 2015

Saturn Class was treated to a Great Fire of London workshop on Tuesday 3rd March. Through a variety of activities, the children reinforced and extended their learning about ‘The Fire’. They also worked extremely hard to portray their ideas at the end of the day to an audience of parents and carers.

On Thursday 5th March, Jupiter and Neptune Classes were treated to an informative and entertaining Science Show at Sevenoaks School. The topic was large and little things in space. The children learnt about the reasons for the extinction of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago; the size differences between the planets in our solar system; the characteristics of meteorites and comets and the craters that they make when they hit the Earth.

Relax and ReadOn Friday 6th March, all the children and staff brought a cushion and their favourite book to school to celebrate World Book Day. The classes paired up to enjoy luxurious reading and, in assembly, the members of staff explained why they had chosen their special book. The children also had the opportunity of viewing the newly launched school library. We are most grateful to Miss Littlejohn and the librarians (Yury Balabin and Jessica Maddison) for all the hard work in re-cataloguing this valuable learning resource.

Thank you…. to the team of parent helpers who have volunteered to be part of a maintenance and improvement team on Saturday 7th March. The willingness to help the school site to be attractive and stimulating for the children is much appreciated. We are particularly grateful to Tim Cope and Ruth Richman who have galvanised the support and organised the necessary materials to carry out the work.

Polite Reminders

Please do not park on the yellow zig-zags outside the school gate during the periods specified on the sign.

Please do not stop on the road opposite the zig-zags to allow children to get out of the car as this obstructs the flow of traffic and is potentially dangerous as doors are opened and children cross the road from the Village Green.
