Breakfast ProgramMr Ben and the helpers are back next week with a delicious breakfast.
60 th Birthday This term Yennora PS will be 60 years old. We will be celebrating on Friday 11th September 2015. So keep this day free as we have lots of activities and things to buy.
Father’s Day Stall
The P&C have organised a Father’s Day Stall so our students can buy a present for dad or grandad. The prices range from $1 to $5. The money is for the Swim Program 2016.
Book WeekMrs Strohmayer is organising Book Week. During Book Week there is a Book Fair, where books can be bought by everyone. Prices are as low as $1.50. There is also a Book Parade. Get dressed as your favourite character from your favourite book

The term is already halfway over – how time flies when everyone is working hard.
We have had such a great response to the AFL afternoon. It is great to see everyone playing and learning the game together. The coaches were impressed by the attendance.

Next term there will be a Family Night at the University with workshops in Law, Journalism, Nursing and Science for the students. We hope to get as many families going as we can win 5 ipads for the school on the night. There will be a bus to take us there.We have our finalist for the Spelling Bee – congratulations to Tyra, David L, Joseph and David V, who will represent Yennora PS at the next level.Congratulations to Mr Pacey and staff for a well-organised Athletics Carnival. Everything went smoothly. The cake stall raised $250 for our Swim Program 2016. Thank you to all donations and everyone who helped with the cake stall and bought the yummy cakes and biscuits. Don’t forget Yennora PS is turning 60 years old. We have a great day planned on Friday 11th September 2015. Hope to see you there.

UNIFORM SHOPIf you need a new winter uniform for your children, please come and see us in the office. We also have some new school bags left.
To find your child’s bag easily, please attach ribbon or keyring to the bag – it makes it easier.
LIBRARY NEWSThere are now 70 students who have completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC). We only have 2 weeks left of the PRC, so to help you finish your challenge you can ask Mrs Strohmayer to borrow extra books. Congratulations to:Amani, Eryn, Ahmed, Uyen, Hilal, Khalaf, Adoneece, Wissam, Wisam, Adam, Faisal, Zaineb and Buity who completed their PRC recently. Remember to keep borrowing the PRC (dot) books from the library so you can finish the challenge. Only 2 weeks to go!! The final day to hand in your reading log to Mrs Strohmayer is Wednesday 26th August 2015. Book FairThe Yennora Book Fair will be here from Monday 24th – Thursday 27th August 2016. Parents are welcome to come and browse the books. There will be some great bargains with books starting from as low as $1.50. The Book Fair will be open from 8:30am each morning and at lunchtimes during the week.Feel free to purchase a book to donate to the library. A book plate with your child’s name will be placed inside the book showing your donation and the book will be added to the library collection for borrowing.Book Parade
To celebrate Book Week we will hold our annual Book Parade on Thursday 27th August 2015 from 9:15am.Students should come dressed as a character from a book or perhaps something that goes with the Book Week theme “Books light up our World”. Senior students can choose to create a book cover of their favourite book or a poster to celebrate Book Week. There are many choices so start planning your ideas!!Happy reading,Mrs Strohmayer
ENGLISH FOR PARENTSThe English for Parents Course is back.We have Eloise from Refugee Health to talk about health and nutrition. It is a great opportunity to talk about food for children especially if you have a baby and/or are planning to have one.

PLAYGROUPIf you have a child, who will come to school next year and you are currently not enrolled in a Pre-school, it would be great to see you
at our Playgroup. Miss Tina is looking forward to helping your child get used to Big School.
LITTLE LEARNERS AT YENNORA PUBLIC SCHOOLSTARTSOn Friday 28th August 2015 we are starting our pre-Kindergarten program called “Little Learners at Yennora”. It starts at 9:00am until approximately 11:00am. The program will get our new Kindergarten students used to school, teachers, the classroom and some routines. It will be on every Friday with the exception of the 11th September 2015 (Yennora PS’ Birthday Party) until 6th November 2015. A parent has to stay on the school premises with the child as they are not legally enrolled yet.It is a great program.
