The year 2013 was a big success for Vive Mexico, many volunteers participated in our projects and they did an amazing job!, hundreds of people where beneficiaries, thousands of marine turtles were saved, volunteers helped to preserve the world cultural heritage and we hosted for the first time an International Committee for the Certification of quality in voluntary service projects, a Youth Forum and International Youth Encounter financed completely with Mexican founds!

All the volunteers expressed their gratitude and thankfulness and we want to thank you very much for your cooperation that made all this possible!!!

In 2015 again we have camps with NO FEE and also camps with very low fee. The camps are very well balanced and organized with high quality.

Following the tradition we start since 2012 we offer a FREE SPANISH AND CULTURAL LEARNING COURSE before each camp starts.

This language-culture course is made for the volunteers who have very basic Spanish and also wants to learn how Mexican culture works, how to deal with cultural differences and have a more meaningful and more intensive learning experience in Mexico.

VIVE MEXICO ORGANIZATION

Vive Mexico is a non-profit-making, non-governmental organization that has been organizing International Voluntary Service Projects since the year 1996.

Vive Mexico was officially established in March 1997 as a non-profit, non-governmental organization recognized by the Mexican laws and authorities as a volunteer’s organization.

Founded in 1994 and legally constituted in 1997, Vive Mexico was born as an initiative of students from the Economics Faculty at the Michoacan University. It is the first organization legally constituted in Mexico and has become the biggest organization in Latin America dedicated to promote international cooperation and the development of the International Voluntary Service Activities.

Vive Mexico has great experience in the development of international voluntary service projects in Mexico and Latin America. It has been coordinating short, medium and long term projects since 1994 as well as special cooperation between Mexico and more than 45 countries of the world.

It has also coordinated a wide variety of seminars and congresses as well as leader trainings to help in the creation of international initiatives to promote the International Voluntary Service in Mexico and Latin America.

Vive Mexico has also a lot of experience in the North-South cooperation activities, some of the activities Vive Mexico had organized are:

1. Received volunteers in the Over Seas Training Program/Volunteer Service Overseas

2. Participated in Congresses for the North-South cooperation in Rome, Puerto Vallarta, Ecuador and Austria with the objective to develop the Euro-Latin Cooperation.

3. Organized with MS Denmark the first leader training seminar in Latin America

4. Received EVS Volunteers from Finland and Italy in a project where it was publicized for the first time a study about the voluntary service movement in Mexico and the perspective from European volunteers.

5. Received volunteers from the ACDI program for the cooperation between Canada and Mexico.

6. Co-coordinated special interchange projects between the United Kingdom and Mexico for the development of the cooperation in North-South relationships.

7. Sent local co-coordinators of workcamps in Mexico to participate in workcamps in France and help in the preparation of the French volunteers coming to Mexico.

8. Coordinated 3 interchanges of the Youth in Action program (former Youth Program) where sent delegations from Mexico to Italy and Costa Rica and received an interchange in Mexico with delegations from Portugal, Italy and Peru.

9. Took part in the CCIVS Solidarity fund to support the participation of Mexican volunteers in French workcamps.

10. Coordinated the delegation that represented Mexico in the Forum Barcelona.

11. Made the translation of the CCIVS UNESCO website to Spanish.

12. Was organizer of the Euro-Latin Seminar of the CCIVS held in Lima, Peru.

13. Participated in the “Global Coordination Meeting of Voluntary Service Organizations” organized by the CCIVS in Tournai, Belgium.




14. Participated in the “Global Networking Conference” organized by the CCIVS in Tokyo, Japan, representing the Latin American region and helped in the creation of the “Guidelines for Inter-Regional Volunteer Exchange” document.

Vive Mexico had organized over 800 international projects where more than 3,800 international volunteers had participated, working together with over 60,000 Mexican youngsters in more than 250 communities of Mexico.

AIM AND OBJECTIVES

Our philosophy consist in involving young people of different nationalities in projects focused in aid and cooperation with the objective to provide a space where their energy and creativity can be channeled in a background that promotes brotherhood and solidarity between nations all over the world, and at the same time, help them to create a consciousness about the problems that are a human responsibility, by inviting them to take part in activities to help our planet.

1. To promote a cultural exchange between young people of different nationalities and backgrounds.

2. To provide a unique and original way to discover all that Mexico has to offer.

3. To give to the young Mexicans the opportunity to participate in international workcamps around the world through our partner organizations.

4. To promote and develop voluntary service projects in Mexico as a mean of solving social, cultural and ecological problems trough international solidarity and co-operation.

GENERAL CONDITIONS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE VIVE MEXICO WORKCAMPS

1. Volunteers must be 18 years old or older.

2. English is the official language within the groups but due to the nature of some of the projects a basic knowledge of Spanish would be appreciated.

3. It would be very good if volunteers could count with a previous preparation for projects taking part in Latin American countries in order to reduce the cultural shock, nevertheless all volunteers will have an orientation session the first day of each work-camp.

4. We ask to the volunteers to stay during the whole length of the project.

5. The departure day will be the last day of the work-camp.

6. Volunteers will need to bring a sleeping bag and air mattress.

7. Volunteers have to pay the fee of the project at their arrival on the projects to the camp leaders.

8. Volunteers will work 5 days a week, 4 - 6 hours a day. Generally during week-ends volunteers will be able travel and do leisure activities to visit different regions and towns around the place they will stay.

9. In all the projects the volunteers will be self managed with the help of the leaders. They will cook, clean their lodging and decide together what kind of food to buy, and how to use their budget for the leisure time.

10. Volunteers have together be open minded and flexible about Mexican culture and food.

In all projects one or two leaders will be present, generally we try to have a foreign leader with a national one. Please look out at our MTV program, and send us some nice volunteers interested to spend two months in Mexico leading projects.

If you have any leader who wants to lead in Mexico for one or two months, we will be very happy to welcome your volunteers and work with them.

PROJECT: For many educational institutions and for many people in the world, it's important to promote environmental awareness. In this project we are looking for very motivated volunteers who are willing to contribute to change and improve bad habits and raise the need to take care about the environment, to reduce pollution levels in water, air and soil, which bring as a result the phenomenon of called global warming. The international volunteers will design and develop activities and actions that focus to reduce our consumption levels of unnecessary products, encourage the reuse of natural resources, practice the separation of solid waste, implement alternative Eco techniques and promote sustainability for the local communities as well. The objective is that students of the local schools at Zacapoaxtla Town and international volunteers participate and collaborate in environmental care activities, promoting environmental ideas, applying techniques for the development of organic compost and vermicomposting and learn techniques for the improvement and health of degraded areas, contributing to mitigate the effects of climate change.

WORK: The volunteers will participate in the organization of the World Environment Day, facilitating environmental education workshops in an informal way in different high schools, and elementary schools of the region. Mexican and International volunteers will inspire and train environmental promoters. Submit success stories of different countries about environmental education, solid waste management, alternative energy and Green Technologies. Volunteers will have an active participation in field activities, through the opening of firebreaks that will prevent the presence of forest fires in the dry season, you will also participate in the reforestation of degraded areas. It is recommended that volunteers have some knowledge about the environmental practices such as those mentioned above and that they are interested in participating in outdoor activities and be able to handle different tools.

LOCATION: Zacapoaxtla City is nestled in the cool elevations at Puebla State, belonging to the Sierra Madre Oriental. The extinct volcano Apaxtepec, southeast, attests to the volcanic origin of the topography. The region is known as the "Puebla´s State Switzerland" for his abrupt separated by deep valleys where rivers run mountain ranges, these, fed by streams rushing down the steep slopes, cause numerous waterfalls such as La Atepolihui or Veil Bride 300 m high, the highest in the area. The climate is temperate and humid, with frequent rain and formation of dense fog banks. The town was founded in 1540 by Jacinto Cortés, who later became a minority missionary of the Order of San Francisco, known as Brother Belts. At its center is the Plaza de Armas or the Constitution, also called in Spanish Zocalo; picturesque portals flanking three sides. In between a monument of commemorative commune in the battle of May 5 against French stands; it was built in 1888 by zacapoaxtecos who participated in the combat and had its capital in some of the weapons used in the battle. Around Zacapoaxtla there are countless sites of extraordinary beauty like the Paulco Valley cloistered in an immense canyon, where there is an aquaculture breeding center for rainbow trout. The Zacapoaxtla-Cuetzalan road crosses the valley and climbs to the summit Paulco highlight of this mountain, descending sharply to the coastal plains, where the vegetation becomes tropical, with lush palm trees, impenetrable thickets and dense ferns groups growing on the hillsides. Below, the extension of the coffee plantations are awesome.

LEISURE ACTIVITIES: During the weekends, the volunteers are able to enjoy the marvelous Cuetzalan sustainable community and get to know Archaeological Sites and Magical Towns. You must have a walk through Xochitlán de Vicente: Ancient Caves and La Cueva del Diablo (Devils Cave). Volunteers will have a tour and will learn about the Handcraft workshops of the region, Cantona: Archaelogical Site. Volunteers can also visit Cholula, the biggest pyramid of the world (coronate with a catholic Church built in the time of the conquest of America by Europeans that in comparison to the pyramid looks very tiny!) and the beautiful city of Tlaxcala.

HOSTING: Volunteers will be hosted in a particular house with all services at disposal: Hot Water, Electricity, Restrooms, Showers, Kitchen, Fridge, Laundry room, Safety Box and Wi-Fi connection.

SPECIAL REQUIRMENTS: Warm Clothes for rain or cold weather, jeans and working shoes. Do not forget to bring a raincoat, working gloves and boots. Sunglass, Sunscreen and a Cap.

PROJECT: Working along with non-profit organizations, established to mediate between the creation, participation and cultural awareness this project has been designed for the second time already with the collaboration art agencies, artists, organizations, and promoters. The project serves as a meeting point and artistic creation place for artists; promotes art through festivals, exhibitions, meetings and workshops; disseminates artistic work; artists growing links with different organizations; invites artists from different disciplines; creates and manages artistic projects to perform their work.The project consist in organizing artistic workshops for children under cancer treatment. Through plastic art seeks to express various stages of the patients by various art techniques that benefits reflection, expression and relaxation. This activity is a process of self-expression, which helps people organize their inner reactions to events in their lives. This is an art therapy workshops led by artists and psychologists who work voluntarily.

WORK: The volunteers and local artists will raise awareness through activities involving the visual arts, music and psychology, so that international volunteers are included and contribute to these fragile groups and experience the growth along the patients. Volunteers, artists and psychologists, who are professionals will contribute with their knowledge, time and effort to this vulnerable groups. Change the social perception, leaving aside individualism and selfishness through altruistic practices.

Volunteers will have a lot of fun activities during the Workcamp such as:

1. Bringing families together to be aware about the treatment against cancer by promoting the creative side to improve the health of patients.

2. Being a link between institutions, organizations, foundations and plastic and visual for cultural promotion activities.

3. To share the plastic work done by children and teenagers through the creation of an artistic catalog to generate income for the institution benefited from this project.

4. To show the work of children and teenagers in situation of Cancer, since art is not exclusive for certain economic sectors.

5. To design four art workshops for children and adolescents with scarce resources and with cancer.

6. To teach arts while promoting a greater understanding of the visual arts and develop ideas, stimulation and recognition of creativity.

PROJECT: Are you looking for something new? Mr. Universal Ambassador is an International Event in which Fashion and Altruism are mixed together. https://www.facebook.com/pages/MRUNIVERSAL-AMBASSADOR/273916896141353 This new international male pageant which will be held on June, 2015, is set out to discover an impressive and intelligent young man who can encourage and promote youth affairs such as healthy life styles, education and life skills. Through this event social, environment and animal care awareness are raised. A national team and an international team are gathered together to develop a multicultural job environment. This event will be held in one of the most important theater place in Morelia city.

WORK: International volunteers will work as event staff before, during and after this international event; Volunteers will work along models and very important Mexican fashion designers and will assist them as personal staff members. During the week of the event, the volunteers will visit a variety of places of low resources and will do altruism activities along with the models. The volunteers will work in different workshops held in the city to promote healthy life styles, such as: Diets, -Healthy Food, Sports, Fat-Loss, Cardio Activities and much more! The volunteers will participate in workshops and public talks about their experience and participation in this international event.

VIVE04.15 Native Dance Fest Zacapoaxtla, Puebla 17/06-30/06 ENVI 6 120

PROJECT: This project is looking forward to bring together a diversity of cultural expressions. The youngsters of Zacapoaxtla Town this zone tend to reduce the value of their own cultural heritage and there's a risk of losing it and they do not know much about the importance of the social work as professionals or volunteers. Creating awareness of cultural expressions and heritage a group of international volunteers is invited to create forums about reflection and multicultural meeting with the aim of inspiring to preserve and disseminate the culture and traditions of the region od Zacapoazta town an share with the culture of different volunteers from all over the world through dance, music, workshops and working groups. In order to provide the space for expression the project organizes along with the international volunteers, the 1st. Intercultural Forum: Identity and tradition, in which diversity is conducted through activities such as roundtables, presentations, performances of dance and music, participation in the festival of San Pedro in the city of Zacapoaxtla as well, visiting schools of the region, and more!.

WORK: Volunteers will take part in the following activites:

1.- Participate in the organisation of the 1st. Intercultural Forum: identity and tradition, where volunteers and students of the ITSZ will give talks about culture and traditions of their countries and bring cultural expressions inherited by their family or communities.

2.- Participate in roundtables about the importance of cultural identity and experiences of development of cultural heritage.

3.- Learning about traditional dances of different communities of México at Puebla State, knowing its origin, clothing, the meaning of the choreography and have fun learning some steps.

4.- Take part in the organization and participation in the presentations of the traditional dances from each community.

5.- Participate with local media in order to disseminate the event.

LOCATION: Zacapoaxtla City is nestled in the cool elevations at Puebla State, belonging to the Sierra Madre Oriental. The extinct volcano Apaxtepec, southeast, attests to the volcanic origin of the topography. The region is known as the "Puebla´s State Switzerland" for his abrupt separated by deep valleys where rivers run mountain ranges, these, fed by streams rushing down the steep slopes, cause numerous waterfalls such as La Atepolihui or Veil Bride 300 m high, the highest in the area. The climate is temperate and humid, with frequent rain and formation of dense fog banks. The town was founded in 1540 by Jacinto Cortés, who later became a minority missionary of the Order of San Francisco, known as Brother Belts. At its center is the Plaza de Armas or the Constitution, also called in Spanish Zocalo; picturesque portals flanking three sides. In between a monument of commemorative commune in the battle of May 5 against French stands; it was built in 1888 by zacapoaxtecos who participated in the combat and had its capital in some of the weapons used in the battle. Around Zacapoaxtla there are countless sites of extraordinary beauty like the Paulco Valley cloistered in an immense canyon, where there is an aquaculture breeding center for rainbow trout. The Zacapoaxtla-Cuetzalan road crosses the valley and climbs to the summit Paulco highlight of this mountain, descending sharply to the coastal plains, where the vegetation becomes tropical, with lush palm trees, impenetrable thickets and dense ferns groups growing on the hillsides. Below, the extension of the coffee plantations are awesome.

LEISURE ACTIVITIES: During the weekends, the volunteers are able to enjoy the marvelous Cuetzalan sustainable community and get to know Archaeological Sites and Magical Towns. You must have a walk through Xochitlán de Vicente: Ancient Caves and La Cueva del Diablo (Devils Cave). Volunteers will have a tour and will learn about the Handcraft workshops of the region, Cantona: Archaelogical Site. Volunteers can also visit Cholula, the biggest pyramid of the world (coronate with a catholic Church built in the time of the conquest of America by Europeans that in comparison to the pyramid looks very tiny!) and the beautiful city of Tlaxcala.

PROJECT: The “United by Arts” Festival organized at La Piedad City is looking for highly motivated volunteers who would like to inspire people encouraging the participation of local youngsters and inhabits of La Piedad City in artistic expressions with the objective to rescue cultural tradition. This important festival is going to provide a space where children and youth have access to presentations, workshops, concerts, art exhibitions and all kinds of attractions aimed to the strengthening of Culture and Arts. The Festival's main objective is to bring culture to the community without gender nor age distinction, sponsoring high quality artistic events for free and to achieve a positive impact on people's life. The fesitval is carried out for over a whole week where recreational activities, concerts, plays, art exhibitions, workshops for children, youth and adults are presented.

WORK: volunteers will participate in the organization of the event while being staff members of the Festival, welcoming guests and other artists and sharing about the cultural traditions of their countries, perform something they know or want to share during the festival. Volunteers will also participate in media events in order to design publicity banners and promote the United By Arts Festival. The volunteers will also participate in Workshops designed for children.




PLACE: La Piedad, known as the door north of Michoacan is located surrounding the shores of the Great or Lerma River , bordered to the north by the municipalities of Degollado and Ayotlan Jalisco ; small producing populations of quarry crafts and textiles. To the north is the city of Santa Ana Pacueco delegation belonging to the city of Penjamo, Guanajuato. To the east it borders the municipality of Numarán known for its tasty bread. To the south it borders the municipalities of Zináparo , Churintzio and Ecuandureo , and west with the municipality of Yurécuaro . La Piedad has many interesting and wonderful attractions among the sites is the main square with a magnificent stone kiosk, its portals, and the Sanctuary of the Lord of La Piedad. The dome of the latter is the largest in America and is among the three largest in the world. Besides the bridge Dug, a masterpiece of engineering of his time, also built in stone in the nineteenth century. At 17 km distance is the "El Salto" waterfall of about 21 meters high and 130 meters wide and is formed in the course of the Lerma River. A similar distance is a reserve known as "Cerro Grande" which has a magnificent forest from the foothills to the top. There are some urban parks like the "Morelos" park, Lazaro Cardenas park, known among piedadenses as "La Placa" or the local zoo. It has all the tourist services. The city is famous for its colorful shawls, woven loom pedals and spliced by hand, but also internationally renowned composer José Alfredo Jiménez, made it more with the song "The Black Dog". Also at about 6 km is the archaeological area of Zaragoza, where the culture flourished Guamares Chichimeca. There you can enjoy their pyramids and ball game. The piedadense nightlife is active and varied, especially on weekends. There are several places where you can dance rhythms and electronic music or band and bars.

Through this type of programs, we want to encourage youngsters for getting involved into our society and to promote international awareness development. Moreover, we want our youngsters to take part in these programs, through it, our youngsters are able to bind a local with a global awareness. Working along with International youngsters from all over the world, will develop language skills and team work skills, which are nowadays very important for our society. "To do one's bit”. This will be the 8th year this project is organized in Morelia City; the aim of this project is to maintain the historic Morelia’s downtown declared world’s cultural heritage by UNESCO to preserve all its splendor and beauty. Morelia is a beautiful colonial city built in “pink stone” it has a really nice weather, volunteers in past projects helped in different restoration activities and workshops to create awareness about the importance to preserve the World Cultural Heritage. The local host will be happy to have a new group because of the very good memories of past volunteers and the very good results of this project. PROJECT: The objective of this project is to promote the education of children and teenagers in local communities. The Mexican education model needs to update responding to global changes, children and teenagers should receive a broader education that includes topics such as intercultural learning, globalization, and entrepreneurial culture, creating a project of life, foster ecological awareness, prevention and rejection of all forms of violence and anticorruption values. Mexico urgently needed this paradigm to shift in the education of children and teenagers, school dropouts due to lack of setting clear goals, many children wonder why they even go to school. To work against this, a selected group of students and teachers from Higher Education Institutions, have the motivation and the abilities to share their experience in those topics with children and teenagers knowledge, this is the 5th year this project is organized with excellent results since it has proven to awake awareness on children and teenagers. On the other hand, at the local region where the project takes place there are serious environmental problems that require immediate action. Pine tree species are in serious danger, and it's essential to increase reforestation goals and protect the flora, fauna and aquifers. This project is bidirectional, it benefits both children and teenagers from local communities and senior students and volunteers as well, creating opportunities for international coexistence for students, providing comprehensive training through the promotion of multiculturalism, language practice and human development. Encourage children and adolescents in the municipality of Morelia to follow an ecological culture, to design life projects, to have an entrepreneurial culture, as well as prevention and rejection of all forms of violence and corruption instill values through a program of activities where international volunteers and local students and teachers of the Instituto Tecnologico de Morelia are involved, creating an atmosphere of trust, multiculturalism, clear goals in life and global vision, also the project involves volunteers in activities of environmental care and preservation of green spaces.




WORK: The project work is organized in three parts:

1st. Integration training session, it will last three days, held at the institution between volunteers and students of the Technological Institute of Morelia.

2nd. Social Work Day, which lasts five days in Santiago Undameo municipality of Morelia, participating on teaching children and adolescents workshops about entrepreneurial culture, life projects, ecological awareness, prevention and rejection of all forms of violence or corruption. It is not necessary to speak Spanish because the methodology involves learning through games and activities and volunteers are always accompanied by senior students of the Instituto Tecnológico de Morelia and they will help to translate the international volunteers.

3rd. Reforestation Day and preservation of educational spaces, it will last for five days, planting and transplanting trees in the ecological reserve of Morelia and the institution.

There will be two Saturday trips organized by the institution in which the volunteers will visit nearby towns that offer different types of handcrafts, cuisine and a traditional atmosphere, such as: Pátzcuaro, Quiroga, Tzintzuntzan, Capula, Santa Clara del Cobre and visit Cuanajo atmosphere.

Workinng hours will be from 9:00am to 14:00pm.

PROJECT: We are looking for highly motivated volunteers that would like to take part in an important mission... To inspire humanistic development activities that can stand against apathy, low self-esteem and lack of youth engagement into the community. As a volunteer you will be able to develop recreational activities and sport activities as well. La Piedad, Michoacán is looking for international volunteers that want to take part in a Motivational Workcamp that stands against the lack of options for youth inclusion, lack of communication and dissemination of youth programs and youth shyness because they live in a rural community. While including activities along with international volunteers, we seek to give rise to a concern in youngsters to see the world, learn about other cultures, countries and ways of thinking. It is a program of the Local Youth Ministry, which has programs about solidarity development for youngsters who are living in one of the communities of La Piedad. International volunteers will participate as facilitators, being in contact and having fun with community youngsters through recreational, cultural and sport activities.

WORK: The volunteers will plant trees in specific areas of the community, help to clean the streets, repair damaged monuments and learn about the traditions of the community. The volunteers will organize talks about teamwork, leadership and how to create a life plan. Take part in movie nights along with youngsters from the local community, prepare games and inspire sport activities.

PROJECT: The organization committee of the 2nd World Youth Encounter 2015 is inviting a group of 50 international volunteers to participate in the organization of a very big and great event in Mexico! The” VIVE EL MUNDO World Youth Encounter: Vision 2030, Puebla” will gather 3,500 youngsters from all over Mexico and 50 international volunteers in a forum where the youngsters will have the opportunity to hear lectures of important opinion leaders for the development of youth and also to participate in “hands-on” voluntary activities in many different fields. In the 2nd W.Y.E. VIVE EL MUNDO Puebla 2015 has the objective to be a space to promote the international cooperation in different expressions: artistically and culturally. The 2nd W.Y.E Puebla 2015 will include the following activities where the International Volunteers are expected to participate (the volunteers can choose the ones of their interest):

LOCATION: Legend has it that once the building of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral came to a close, right on the heart of the city of Puebla, the question of how to raise an 18,000 pound bell to the top of its towers (the highest ones in Latin America) came about. This question caused sleepless nights for the engineers and construction workers. It looked like an impossible task.However, one morning, the city of Puebla awoke to the news that the bell was already atop of the tower, pealing with joy. “But who took it up there and how?” everyone was asking. And since it looked like a miracle, no one doubted that angels probably had come down to raise the bell to what is its resting spot since then. This legend is the reason this beautiful city is known as Puebla de los Angeles. However, there are many other reasons to assure that its streets, views and specially, its flavors, are full of a heavenly sense. Nestled in the middle of Mexico, under the imposing view of the Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes, Puebla opens its doors and boasts its official titles: It was named a “heroic” city for being the site where Mexican troops’ defeated the French army in 1862 (Battle of Puebla); and it was also named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987. Nevertheless, what makes this beautiful city most proud is its food, one of the most emblematic and delicious in Mexico. Known as the world’s mole, chiles en nogada and chalupas capital, Puebla takes us close to paradise with deserts that can only be attributed to a heavenly creativity: sweet potatoes, the Santa Clara cakes, and the pecan and pine nut fudge are just the beginning of a long listing that could very well be accompanied with chubby cherubs’ faces. If there is a word that defines Puebla, then it is baroque. Complex flavors that seduce our palates, elaborated shapes that capture our sight, an irresistible mix of legends and stories, winding streets, fountains, gardens, craft markets, artistic alleys… and a view studded with the churches’ domes. So, it is not outrageous to think that Puebla is the place that angels call home. On their route towards Mexico City, the merchandise of ships arriving from the Philippines would first go through Puebla, which slowly but surely assimilated artistic expressions from the Far East. This characteristic is reflected on the beautiful talavera ceramic vases, pottery and the tiles that decorate facades in churches, big houses, fountains, patios and kitchens. Another example is the legend of the “China Poblana”, an Indian princess that arrived as a slave on the Manila Galleon, and who designed for herself a beautiful dress embroidered with sequin, which today is Puebla’s traditional dress.

LEISURE ACTIVITIES: Nicknamed “The Shrine of America” due to its architectural beauty, the city of Puebla was, according to legend, created and laid-out by angels, to be enjoyed by mortals. Visit its central streets among buildings, façades, gardens and balconies which reflect the history and the passing years. In the evening, go for a walk in the so called Angelopolis, which has a wide range of cafes, bars and nightclubs. PROJECT: Nowadays, the urban development has generated an important problem that caters especially the communities surrounding major cities and it is in these communities where food shortages, disorganized suburban development and lack of sustainable culture among the population has generated a social and economic conflict. It is very important for educational institutions that are located at the border of both parts (urban and suburban) such as the Technological Institute of the Valley of Morelia to work on possible solutions for the communities which they belong to. This project aims to raise international cooperation and community development in the region of “Valle de Morelia-Queréndaro”, through the implementation of a handful of activities that promote environmental awareness and sustainable development.

WORK: As an introduction to the Workcamp, the international volunteers will receive basic training on the following topics: Home gardens, Management and use of organic waste (composting, manure solids and liquids), Ecological pots among other eco-techniques.

Then, the volunteers will carry out campaigns in the communities surrounding the institution (Tarímbaro, Álvaro Obregón, Cuitzillo, among others) in which is ecological awareness will be promoted along with community members with the tools designed by international volunteers and through activities as well like :

Creating community gardens, Preparation of compost, Management and Waste separation, Recovery and beautification of public spaces, Reforestation, and more. It will be a goal to create impact within the institution as part of the activities undertaken within the Workcamp, so the volunteers will do some activities for the benefit of the institution including:

Maintenance of green areas, Classification and marking of the flora of the institution, Rehabilitation of common areas.

PROJECT For over 10 years this project has been organized in the Rincón de Guayabitos, Nayarit with extraordinary results. This project is the source of many beautiful stories; hundreds of volunteers from all over the world had participated. The aim of these projects are to protect the marine turtles working in tight collaboration with a group of biologist and the local population who lives in La Peñita de Jaltemba or as they say “the place where dreams come true” volunteers along with a team of professional biologists will develop activities to protect the turtles, and will help to ensure the survival of the turtles for the future generations. You will also rebuild one of the most important turtlecamps in the region. There are two species of turtles arriving to this area: Negra (Black Turtle) and Golfina (Olive Riddle Turtle). The size of the turtles varies from 1 meter to 1.5 meters long and the weight from 40 Kg to 100 Kg. Every turtle makes a nest of around 150 eggs. If you like nature, to spend time in an astonishing beautiful virgin beaches, hotels and meeting new tourists, and witness the magic that nature had made for millions of years this project is for you!

WORK: The main work consists in patrolling the beach at night, the working hours are from 17:00 to 3:00 every day, the goal is to find the adult turtles and collect the eggs, burying them in a secure place (vivero in Spanish) and set the baby turtles free back in to the ocean when they hatch, volunteers will also help collecting statistical data in order to know the evolution of the species. You will rebuild a very important turtle camp in Guayabitos Beach. Activities must be carried out by night since turtles do not go out the ocean by day (because of natural predators, it is safer for turtles to get out the ocean in the dark).In collaboration with local people and biologists from La Peñita, volunteers will seek for the turtles taking care of their eggs and the baby turtles. Locals and Experts are very friendly and working with them is very pleasant as they explain to the group what to do. We need very motivated volunteers

Here, visitors can tour the Tovara swamps, take a tour to Isla Isabel, do some bird sighting in Singayta, surf at Matanchen’s bay, visit the ruins of the San Basilio fort, explore Mexcaltitlan Island and visit the archeological site named Los Toriles. There are many culinary options at the Nayarit Riviera: Luxury hotels and restaurants serve gourmet dishes prepared with fresh seafood, always with a pre-Hispanic touch. At the beach and the town, visitors can try exquisite delicacies, such as shrimp meatballs, the traditional grilled fish, aguachile (seafood served with a spicy lemon mix), fish rinds, shrimp tamales, marlin tacos or chalupas and many more. LEISURE ACTIVITIES: Volunteers will have the opportunity to know solitary beaches and towns with an extraordinary natural richness. Such is the case of Flamingos, where people can enjoy three beautiful lakes; Bucerias, with a long beach and cobblestone streets; La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, a picturesque fishing town; Destiladeras, a paradise for surfers; volunteers will have the chance to know the Islas Marietas one of the most beautiful places on earth, take surfing classes and travel to and Sayulita, a bohemian town ideal for camping. In the middle of the corridor, we find Rincon de Guayabitos, whose beaches with crystal-clear waters and calm waves simulate a large swimming pool. Near by, visitors will find the pre-Hispanic sanctuary of Altavista and the semi-virgin beach named Chacala, the perfect site to get amazed by nature.

HOSTING: Volunteers will stay in Hotel Peñamar in La Peñita de Jaltemba. Volunteers will stay in Quadruple Rooms with access to free Wi-Fi, hot water, air conditioning and private bathroom in each room, full access to 2 swimming poolS. Volunteers will have 3 meals a day at the hotel restaurant with nice typical Mexican food volunteers do not have to cook unless they want to share typical food of their country with the other volunteers. PROJECT: Ciudad Serdan, at Puebla State, has different and really interesting regional festivals, including the “Three Falls of our Father Jesus”, which begins on August the 16th. At the beginning, there are serenades in the atrium of the Parish of San Andrés, then on the last Sunday of August, takes place an evening procession where the image of the Father is shown through the different streets of the city. This project aims to Support the preservation of local traditions through participation in events organized due to the festivities of the community, promote a cultural exchange by presenting to the participants of the events Introduce the traditions, magic and culture of the region, promote an international intercultural experience and raise awareness and respect for both the environment and the community. Know and understand the real Mexico through living with a host families in the community, sharing their culture and traditions encouraging cultural exchanges between the community of Chalchicomula de Sesma and international volunteers by promoting coexistence, change the way we see other cultures and even change attitudes and customs improving others life’s. Promote the intercultural and global learning receiving volunteers from different cultures and living with students from the Technological Institute at Ciudad Serdan develop in both groups intercultural skills with universal values, and the development of teamwork and self-initiative through unforgettable and enriching experiences forming citizens of the World.

WORK: Volunteers will participate in workshops submitting ideas and participating in organization of cultural events for the local festivities. Participate in cultural and sports activities of the Technologinal Institute at Ciudad Serdan and being a Staff Member in social events developing cultural activities within the community.




PLACE: Ciudad Serdan, before and still popularly known as San Andrés Chalchicomula , is a city of the Mexican state of Puebla, the most important of the eastern zone of that State . He is head of the municipality of Chalchicomula de Sesma. The earliest settlers were the chichimeco - tlaxcaltecas , barely formed a humble congregation of Indians in the area. Its historical background is important and significant regional economy that allowed the local municipality was in his time a distinguished center of communication , commerce, finance , culture and society. There are Several “Haciendas Coloniales” (ranches built in the conquest time) from the colonial period such as San Antonio , Ocotepec , San Cayetano to 3 km . Cd . Serdan and Sesma to 18 km . Cd . Serdan. In the property of Xalapasco only you can visit the Church and Cascantla hacienda that was built in the sixteenth century ( 1560 ). Other helmets are hacienda Santa Ana, Santa Inés , San Diego , La Concepción and San Jeronimo.

LEISURE: Volunteers will have the chance to visit during the weekend the Citaltépec Vulcano and also one of the most famous places in Ciudad Serdán: The Large Millimeter Telescope. The Three Waterfalls of Father Jesus's Paris or if you are looking for something really old, you can not miss the Old Castles of Spanish Conquerors.

PROJECT: Universal values should be integrated inside educational programs, this project is looking for highly motivated international volunteers who are willing to raise values' s awareness in the college students and the local community. Volunteers who want to inspire students and locals to stand against crime, drug abuse, school dropout and other social problems .The school promotes and encourages gender equity among the students as well. Among with students from Higher Education Institutes of Coatzacoalcos and international volunteers this project will design a campaign to promote values on college students and the community. The school willl use different media and tools available at the University to promote them. Nowadays, it is necessary and urgent to encourage students and community values such as punctuality, commitment, solidarity, respect, love, equality and it will be easier and better if young people from different nationalities working as volunteers could assist and support spread the message

WORK: The volunteers will participate in the following activities: Participation in a forum to reflect on values. Development and dissemination of values through posters and banners. Inspire students to recognize and stand against crime, drugs and other types of violence Lectures to students of the University about values and globalization. PLACE: Coatzacoalcos, in Nahuatl, means "The place where the snake hides." According to the legend, this is the place where the god Quetzalcoatl made his final journey to the sea around the year 999 and where he made his promise to return. Coatzacoalcos lies within the Olmec heartland. Excavations in 2008 for a tunnel underneath the Coatzacoalcos River indicate a substantial pre-Hispanic




population. By the time of the Spanish arrival the area was under Mayan influence. In 1522, Hernán Cortés ordered Gonzalo de Sandoval to fund a settlement near Guazacualco. Sandoval named it Villa del Espíritu Santo. The San Martín Tuxlta is an active volcano lying northwest of Coatzcoalcos in the Sierra de los Tuxtlas. It erupted in 1664, in May 1793 with large ash falls and lava flows, and most recently in 1796.

LEISURE: Coatzacoalcos is a major port city in the southern part of the Mexican state of Veracruz, on the Coatzacoalcos River. PROJECT: Let's get down to it! This project is looking for highly motivated volunteers to participate in the active life of Campus at the local School in Senguio Towns. This workcamp is about encouraging teamwork and creating an international cooperation environment. We are looking for international volunteers who want to share and increase their ecological awareness and inspire students and locals. International Volunteers who would like to share the exquisite cuisine of their countries, and have with children in different workshops and games.

WORK: The volunteers will take part in the following activites: You will team up with an Eco-group, which takes care of a handful of fun and helpful activities inside and outside the Campus. You will design an English conversation club within the students. Volunteers will collect clothes and food in the local community and in the school and will address the need of low-income communities. Since cultural sharing is important for everyone, as a volunteer you will take part in a traditional parade inside the community, to learn about its roots and magical stories. For example, ''the Mañanita Festival'' where you can enjoy traditional mexican food and folkloric music. Or taking part in a gastronomical demonstration, in which students and the international volunteers will work together and prepare some special dishes! You will also visit different primary schools and have small presentation about your country and things that you would like to share.

PLACE: The word Senguio Purepecha language means "borderline " . Most likely to be located in what were the limits of two large prehispanic empires ; the Purepecha or Tarascan empire and the Aztec or Mexica empire. People refer to as The Quiet Village Senguio. Senguio town stands on 26 April 1856. This place was inhabited by tribes mazahuas within the limits of two large prehispanic empires : the Purepecha or Tarascan empire and the Mexica or Aztec empire .

Locals are very friendly and working with them is very pleasant as they explain to the group what to do. We need very motivated volunteers who really want to get involved in this project willing to interact with the local people and their culture. There are also some extra activities to do with the local people to help to improve the town like setting names to the streets or helping to arrange an “all purpose” play-ground for the children and maybe some cleaning tasks, but it depends on your initiative! Local people are very open to participate in other activities and volunteers can also propose their own initiatives, so your ideas will be welcomed!

PROJECT: Education unlocks opportunities, open our minds to understand other cultures and different people´s way of living is something that make us to be inspired and to be better human beings, this knowledge and understanding can be achieved by participating in projects overseas and having international experiences. For Vive Mexico is very important to promote the international mobility of youngsters, unfortunately many Mexican youngsters do not have the basic tools to travel internationally such as the ability to speak English (95% of the Mexican youngsters who finish the high school do not speak English) despite the fact that there are many official schools that teach English, the knowledge acquired in this programs is very little and private institutions are very expensive for the Mexican families, because of this, Vive México since 2014 opened the VIVE MEXICO INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL CENTER-MORELIA (VMICC) at Morelia City with the objective to share Cultures and Languages in a different way with the philosophy of “Learning by Doing” and promote the intercultural exchange between Mexico and the World.

Since the languages are only one part of the cultures, the activities promoted at the VMICC include the intercultural exchange between the Mexican youngsters and international volunteers. By volunteering in Mexico and opening this possibility to the underfunded youngsters you are giving them the chance to improve their level of education, get to know you and your culture improving the international understanding and global awareness and making possible for them to access a better options in life, the gift of your time and knowledge could give a youngster a much greater gift – the means to a brighter future.




WORK: Volunteers will be facilitators of workshops to practice basically English language but also other languages the volunteers can share with methodologies based in dynamic, fun and participative activities (if you have any knowledge of experiences teaching or making dynamics or using creative materials to share the knowledge of a language they are very welcomed!)

Volunteers will also share their culture with the Mexican people by organizing cultural workshops and intercultural learning seminars with the support of the VMICC trainers this means the volunteer can propose to organize activities to share their culture (food, lifestyles, movies, drinks, etc.) the volunteer is expected to participate in the organization and the implementation of intercultural workshops.

WORKING HOURS: Monday to Friday: 7 hours a day, Saturday: 3 hours with the possibility to have some Saturday’s special cultural activities at night.

INSCRIPTION FEE: The Inscription fee for this project is 100 EUROS, this is a 100% refundable fee, and the volunteer will get the fee refunded once the whole duration of the project is completed.

PROJECT: Education unlocks opportunities, open our minds to understand other cultures and different people´s way of living is something that make us to be inspired and to be better human beings, this knowledge and understanding can be achieved by participating in projects overseas and having international experiences. For Vive Mexico is very important to promote the international mobility of youngsters, unfortunately many Mexican youngsters do not have the basic tools to travel internationally such as the ability to speak English (95% of the Mexican youngsters who finish the high school do not speak English) despite the fact that there are many official schools that teach English, the knowledge acquired in this programs is very little and private institutions are very expensive for the Mexican families, because of this, Vive México since 2014 opened the VIVE MEXICO INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL CENTER-QUERETARO (VMICC) at Querétaro City with the objective to share Cultures and Languages in a different way with the philosophy of “Learning by Doing” and promote the intercultural exchange between Mexico and the World.

Since the languages are only one part of the cultures, the activities promoted at the VMICC include the intercultural exchange between the Mexican youngsters and international volunteers. LOCATION: Santiago of Queretaro, to give it its official name, has over 460 years of history. One way of getting to know the city is to set out on a walk in the city center, where one can see the city’s historical monuments, a collection of treasures that is part of the 1996 declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Among the tourist attractions in this city, it is definitely worth mentioning those from the 17th and 18th centuries. These are wonders made of stone, with Baroque altarpieces inside; there are also Neo-classical buildings from the 19th century, colonial mansions, and a vast amount of pre-Hispanic heritage. To get to know this city, a good option is to take a tram ride and drive past all of the outstanding tourist attractions. Querétaro is conveniently located in the geographic center of the México. It is only 210 km north of Mexico City and it is the first stop for many travelers on the country’s circuit of colonial-era cities.

Surrounding Queretaro there are plenty of activities for one-day sightseeing or adventure trips: You can visit the picturesque town of Tequisquiapan and pamper yourselves in a natural spring spa, or visit the wineries and cheese production farms in the region.

LOCATION: Legend has it that once the building of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral came to a close, right on the heart of the city of Puebla, the question of how to raise an 18,000 pound bell to the top of its towers (the highest ones in Latin America) came about. This question caused sleepless nights for the engineers and construction workers. It looked like an impossible task.

However, one morning, the city of Puebla awoke to the news that the bell was already atop of the tower, pealing with joy. “But who took it up there and how?” everyone was asking. And since it looked like a miracle, no one doubted that angels probably had come down to raise the bell to what is its resting spot since then.

This legend is the reason this beautiful city is known as Puebla de los Angeles. However, there are many other reasons to assure that its streets, views and specially, its flavors, are full of a heavenly sense.

Nestled in the middle of Mexico, under the imposing view of the Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes, Puebla opens its doors and boasts its official titles: It was named a “heroic” city for being the site where Mexican troops’ defeated the French army in 1862 (Battle of Puebla); and it was also named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987.

Nevertheless, what makes this beautiful city most proud is its food, one of the most emblematic and delicious in Mexico. Known as the world’s mole, chiles en nogada and chalupas capital, Puebla takes us close to paradise with deserts that can only be attributed to a heavenly creativity: sweet potatoes, the Santa Clara cakes, and the pecan and pine nut fudge are just the beginning of a long listing that could very well be accompanied with chubby cherubs’ faces.




LEISURE ACTIVITIES: Nicknamed “The Shrine of America” due to its architectural beauty, the city of Puebla was, according to legend, created and laid-out by angels, to be enjoyed by mortals. Visit its central streets among buildings, façades, gardens and balconies which reflect the history and the passing years. In the evening, go for a walk in the so called Angelopolis, which has a wide range of cafes, bars and nightclubs. Go to the Plazuela de los Sapos (Square of Toads) where you will enjoy a musical night to the sound of the traditional mariachi, enjoying the beauty of the place a must visit is to go to the Palafoxiana Library, the Cathedral of Puebla, the Casa de Alfeñique the Museum, City Hall, the Amparo Regional Museum and Cholula.
