to all that come into our church.

“To make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of

the World”

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

,Beloved in Christ,

Have you recently had a desire to meet God? Now rest easy! I’m not referring to our time, “When the roll is called up yonder”. I am referring to our search for God as we go about living our daily lives wherever that may be. We never can be sure how and when God may reveal himself to u s.

I hope you enjoy this story about a little boy who wanted to meet God.

Twinkies and Root BeerThere once was a little boy who wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of root beer, and he started on his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park, staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase.

He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her a Twinkie. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Once again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted. They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, yet they never said a word.

As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave. Before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old woman and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own home a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do to-day that made you so happy?" He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? She's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"

Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her neighbor was stunned by the look of peace on her face, and she asked, "What did you do today that made you so happy?" She replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." But before her neighbor responded, she added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected."

Will someone see God in your smile or kind deeds? Maybe they're not even look-ing for God, but may see Him in the kindness you show. Isn't that what we're here for? It might be a stranger, someone you work with, a family member or friend. Let them see God in you. Show His love in all you do today." Author Unknown

DID YOU KNOW???????* The Voices of Trinity have new robes which Pastor Carter acquired from Lowell Street UMC in Laurens. They

purchased new choir robes and wanted to give their older robes to a church who could use them. Thanks, Pastor Carter, for staying up-to-date on what’s happening in our District and for getting the choir robes at no cost. They even had them dry cleaned for us so they’re like brand new.

* Harry Longshore was the only lay servant from Trinity to attend the Lay Servants Ministries School on April 3 and April 10 at Zion UMC in Prosperity. Harry successfully completed a course on Polity. Congratulations, Harry!

* Brett and Reid Lindler, grandsons of Johnny and Alice Longshore and Dawson Hare, grandson of Wayne and Betsy Black, recently advanced from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. They are members of Troop 76 in Pomaria, along with Dawson’s older brother, Derek Senn, who is a Senior Patrol Leader.

* Derek Senn won the 400 meter hurdle competition at a Track Meet held at Ninety Six High School. Derek represented Mid-Carolina High Sch ool where he is a member of the track team.

* Della Senn, granddaughter of Wayne and Betsy Black, and a student at Newberry College, serves as a Student Ambassador for prospective students.* Frieda Kesler, Lisha Senn, June Pitts and Sarah Greene attended the Lake Junaluska Spiritual Growth

Retreat on April 29 & 30 at the Lake Junaluska Conference Center in North Carolina.* A National Day of Prayer will be held on Thursday, May 5, at noon and 5:30 at the Newberry Memorial

Park. All are invited and encouraged to attend.* Roger Longshore is the new Chairman of the Trustees, replacing Robert Pollard. Harry Longshore is

thenew Sunday School Superintendent, replacing Sharon Senn. Thank you Robert and Sharon for your service.

* Meaghan Bedenbaugh was selected as a delegate to Palmetto Girls State to be held at Presbyterian College on June 5 – 11. Congratulations, Meaghan!
