There is no question; JOHN WILLIAMSON is a musical icon of
Australia. His name is firmly cemented in the culture and fabric of
the country he loves. His impressive career now spans more than
forty five years and he has survived and soared in the entertainment
industry whilst most of his ‘colleagues’ have not.
To his credit are unofficial anthems, tributes to legends and unsung
heroes and tender ballads that have captured the spirit of the
nation in song unlike any other. His honest and passionate songs are
synonymous with the country that inspires him and connect him with
his countrymen regardless of age, sex or creed. He is honest and
open with all he does.
Add to this his ability to deliver unforgettable live concert
experiences that combine the perfect blend of humour, romance and
campfire stories woven together by his music. You can understand
why he is one of the most in-demand live performers in Australia.
You can call him what you want, Mallee Boy, True Blue or just plain
Fair Dinkum; but there is no denying that after more than forty years in
the music industry, John Williamson is truly an Australian icon.

The Peasant PrinceM O N K E Y B A A T H E A T R E C O M P A N Y
Li Cunxin’s iconic autobiography MAO’S LAST DANCER was first
published as a children’s picture book, THE PEASANT PRINCE. Monkey
Baa is honoured to be adapting this story onto the stage.
Li, a 10-year old peasant boy, is plucked from his village in
rural China and sent to a ballet academy in the big city. He
leaves everything and everyone he knows, including his beloved
parents. Over years of gruelling training and determination, this
boy transforms from an impoverished peasant to a giant of the
international dance scene. Li’s courage, resilience and unwavering
hope for a better life makes THE PEASANT PRINCE a story to ignite
our own aspirations to be the best person we can be.
This is a perfect production to explore intercultural experiences,
texts from other countries and times and stories exploring peoples
and cultures of Asia, and curriculum links to English, The Arts and
Social Sciences. Audiences will be captivated by this inspiring story.
Definitely not to be missed!

Martha Davis and The MotelsF L E M I N G A R T I S T S
Direct from the U.S.
Fresh from their sold-out show in LA, Martha Davis and The Motels
return to Australia.
Described by Los Angeles Times writer Robert Hilburn as “the most
charismatic female performer in rock” Martha is renowned for her
smoky, powerful voice and as a leading light of the MTV era with her
sultry, edgy video clips.
This review of Martha Davis and the band’s return to Australia, in
March of 2014, more than 20 years after the band last played there,
has shown Hilburn’s words to be as true today as when Martha
Davis and The Motels first conquered the Sunset Strip and the new
wave scene.
Whether you were there when The Motels first burst onto the music
scene, or are just discovering them now, 2014 became a year of
rediscovery for this iconic artist, which saw more Motels shows than
in any year since 1985.
Martha Davis and the Motels will bring their rock ‘n’ roll attitude to
songs from the band’s heyday such ‘Total Control’, ’Only The Lonely’
and ‘Don’t Tell Me The Time’ as well as soulful new material. Come
and join Martha Davis and the Motels on the emotional roller-

Award winning vocalist Emma Pask has firmly established herself as
one of this country’s favourite voices in Jazz.
Returning to the Devonport Jazz Festival in 2016, Emma is bringing
her sensational swinging trio with her.
Emma appeared in the 2013 series of Channel Nine’s reality show

on her success, signing to Universal Music Australia and recording a

She has been charming audiences nationally and internationally
with her sensational sound, and it comes as no surprise that James
Morrison, Australia’s most awarded jazzman, describes Emma as
“The greatest gift to Australian Jazz Vocals”.
