2.1.3 FAQFAQ - Program Activation/Verification Q: How do I reset the program activation on my machine?A: click here  Q: My machine is currently setup for Internet Activation/Verification.  My machine doesn't always have Internet access, what can I do?A: click here 2.1.3.1 Reset ActivationTo reset your TouchJams Activation, please follow the below steps:Navigate to the folder:

Windows XP C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ACH\TJSSTD

Windows Vista/7/8 C:\ProgramData\ACH\TJSSTD

If you are unable to locate this folder, please read the following:

Page 5: Web viewCheck this box to change the way TouchJams displays artists starting with the word ... Conrol IDs: IDC_BUTTON_VOL_DN ... TouchJams Email the file

For Windows Vista/7/8, to make all folders visible, you will have to go to Control Panel/Folder Options/View tab, and select "Show hidden files, folders, and drives".

Delete all the files and folders under the folder in red above.

2.1.3.2 Change to Manual ActivationChanging From Internet Activation/Verification to Manual Activation/VerificationPlease follow all steps in this document while you are connected to the Internet.  After completing all the steps in this document, TouchJams will no longer need an Internet connection to validate the Product Key.Using Explorer (not Internet Explorer), navigate to the folder where TouchJams is installed.  This should be in one of the two following locations:     1) C:\Program Files\TouchJams Standard

     2) C:\Program Files (x86)\TouchJams StandardLocate the TouchJams.exe.cm.ini file in this folder.  Right-click this file, and from the popup menu select Edit.  This file should contain something like the following:

; This .ini file may only contain the path to the location of the real CopyMinder files.; Use a .cm.ini file in that location if you wish to change the CopyMinder settings.

[Main]Path=C:\ProgramData\ACH\TJSSTD\cm

The text in red above may vary from one machine to the next, but whatever the text is on your machine, we need to navigate to this folder using Explorer.  If you are unable to locate this folder, please read the following:

For Windows Vista and Windows 7, to make all folders visible, you will have to go to Control Panel/Folder Options/View tab, and select "Show hidden files, folders, and drives".

Once you have navigated to the folder in red above, you should again find the TouchJams.exe.cm.ini file.  Again, right-clik on this file and select Edit from the pop-up menu.  This file should contain something like the following:

[Main]Trial=NeitherNetworkClientAllowed=NoProductKey=TJSSTD-XXXX-XXXX-XX[Messages]ShowWebCheckMessage=NO

We need to add a line to this file so TouchJams no longer wants to validate the key on the Internet.  The line you should add to this file is in red below:

[Main]ForceWebCheck=Once

Page 6: Web viewCheck this box to change the way TouchJams displays artists starting with the word ... Conrol IDs: IDC_BUTTON_VOL_DN ... TouchJams Email the file

Trial=NeitherNetworkClientAllowed=NoProductKey=TJSSTD-XXXX-XXXX-XX[Messages]ShowWebCheckMessage=NO

After adding this line, save the file and close it.Start TouchJams, and then exit TouchJams. ***  IMPORTANT ***At this point contact [email protected] and indicate that you have made all of the changes above.  Your product key will need a settings change on the activation server, and after that is complete, you will be notified and you should continue with the below. *** After you receive the above notification, start TouchJams, and then exit TouchJams. At this point, TouchJams should now run without trying to connect to the Internet.  To test this, simply unplug your machine from the Internet and try running TouchJams.

2.2 Music Tag InfoTag InfoIn order for TouchJams to organize your music library correctly and to provide accurate search capabilities, audio and video files should contain at a minimum the Artist, Album and Title tag info.Commercial Tag Editing SoftwareLinks to commercial tag editing software can be found here.Tag Info Text FileTo specify tag info, it is possible to use an external tag info text file.  Please clickhere for information regarding this.

2.2.2 Tag Info Text FileTag Info Text FileAnother possibility to supply tag info to your music is by creating a tag info text file which pairs with your music file or video file.  To set this up, you simply create a text file in the same folder as your music/video file and name it the same name as the music/video file.  For example, say you have the music/video file called "C:\MySongs\311 - Welcome.MP3", you would create the text file "C:\MySongs\311 - Welcome.TXT", and the contents of this file should appear as:

artist=311 to download this file, click herealbum=Music

title=WelcomeTo create this file, simply use NotePad which comes with Windows.  After creating this file, rescan either the music library or video library, depending on what type of song you just made the tag info text file for.

2.3 KaraokeKaraoke Releated FAQs

2.3.1 Karaoke CD+G FilesKaraoke FilesFor karaoke files, TouchJams is actually looking for ZIP files which contain the music file (typically MP3) and CDG file.  So, for each MP3/CDG file, you would put that file pair in a single zip file.  TJs is picky about the filenaming convention, and the MP3/CDG/ZIP files all need to have the same filename (less extension).  For example:     ACDC - Back in Black.MP3     ACDC - Back in Black.CDG     ACDC - Back in Black.ZIPSo, for all your karaoke music, you'd want your file/folder structure to look something like:

Page 8: Web viewCheck this box to change the way TouchJams displays artists starting with the word ... Conrol IDs: IDC_BUTTON_VOL_DN ... TouchJams Email the file

      C:\music\karaoke\ACDC\Back in Black\ACDC - Back in Black.ZIP      C:\music\karaoke\ACDC\Back in Black\ACDC - Hells Bells.ZIP       C:\music\karaoke\ACDC\High Voltage\ACDC - High Voltage.ZIP       C:\music\karaoke\ACDC\High Voltage\ACDC - The Jack.ZIP

As with the standard TouchJams library, you want all songs of the same album to be located in 1 folder.

5. Media Library RecommendationsMedia Library Recommendations     Your media library is only as good as it is organized. The following is recommend for your media library:1 - Tag Info - media files have at a minimum the Artist, Album and Title tags filled out2 - Folder Structure - media files are organized into folders which represent albumsBelow explains these 2 points in more detail. Tag Info In order for TouchJams to organize your music library correctly and to provide accurate search capabilities, audio and video files should contain at a minimum the Artist, Album and Title tag info. If a particular media file is missing any one of these 3 tag fields, a default value will be used:

Tag Field Default ValueArtist "Unknown"Album "Unknown"Title filename less the folder and filename extension

Folder Structure Along with sufficient tag info, media files should be organized into folders on the storage medium being used. All the media files in a last child folder are treated as a physical album, or CD. The below example shows the right and wrong way to organize your media files:

Page 10: Web viewCheck this box to change the way TouchJams displays artists starting with the word ... Conrol IDs: IDC_BUTTON_VOL_DN ... TouchJams Email the file

Wrong Way Correct Way

Local Disk (C:)   My Music      Artist A - Best Of - Track X.mp3      Artist B - Best Of - Track X.mp3      ---      Artist X - Best Of - Track X.mp3

Local Disk (C:)   My Music      Folder 1         Artist A - Best Of - Track X.mp3      Folder 2         Artist B - Best Of - Track X.mp3      ---      Folder X         Artist X - Best Of - Track X.mp3

In the Correct Way illustrated above, all the files in Folder 1 will be treated as an album, and the same applies to Folder 2 and Folder X. However you choose to create the folder hierarchy in your media library, the concept to remember is that all files under each leaf folder will be treated as an album.

If you try to enable "Unique Keycode" or "Pulse Increment" above, you may receive the error message that "kbhk32.dll" is missing.  This DLL does not get installed by default because some virus software looks at this DLL as a threat.  What this DLL actually does is intercept key strokes coming into Windows.  The reason for this is that TouchJams expects the dollar bill acceptor/hardware to behave like a keyboard, where every time a bill is inserted, a keystroke is sent to Windows.  To intercept this keystroke, TouchJams has to use this keyboard hook so that it will 100% of the time register credits being put into the jukebox.To download kbhk32.dll, please click here.  You will need to place this in the same folder as the TouchJams.exe file, typically located under C:\Program Files\TouchJams or C:\Program Files (x86)\TouchJams. If you need further assistance with this or have any questions, please contact TouchJams Tech Support at:  [email protected]

12.2 Catch File CrashUpdate Library ErrorWhen updating the TouchJams library, unforeseen conditions may cause TouchJams to shut-down, or crash.  While this is not a common occurrence, the most likely reason for this to happen is the presence of corrupt music files.  So, in the event that TouchJams crashes while updating the library, simply restart TouchJams and the below information window will appear.

At this point, TouchJams has already added the problematic file to a list of files to skip in the future so that an unexpected shut-down is diverted.  For more information on the Skip File List, please click here.

The TouchJams National Music Charts contain a list of the most popular music being played by the TouchJams community.  These charts can be displayed right from within TouchJams.If you want to contribute to these charts, each time a song is played information about the song will be sent to the TouchJams Music Chart Server.  This server tracks what songs are being played, and from this creates the National Music Charts for all participating countries.

12.7 Volume NormalizationVolume NormalizationFor Volume Normalization, I had implemented this at one point in TJs to do volume normalization on the fly, but even on a high end PC, the amount of processing time and disk access time made was so intense (almost a minute) that it was simply not doable because of the cross-fader and the lag before the next song was ready to play. So, I abandoned this effort, and did find that there was other software out there which was dedicated to volume normalization. The software which I used on my music collection was MP3 Gain (http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/) and it did a good job, albeit it took a long time to process all the songs.
