Winemaking
The grape varieties are vinifiedseparately.
We seek thestructure of Tempranillowith a long maceration period whichachievesvolumeand thedevelops thegrapevariety’sfullpotential.
The Garnacha is vinified at lowertemperatures to empower itsfreshness, using part of thestems infermentation to contribute length andbalance.
The wines are also barrel-agedseparately. The Tempranillo spent 15months in 225 litre French andAmerican oak barrels. In view of thedelicate nature of the Garnacha, it isaged in 500 litre French oakhogsheads,whichhavealowerwood-to-wineratio,whereageingisaslowerprocess. In addition, the 500 litrehogsheads, which were used to ageandtransportwineinthepast,takeusback to the origins of Rioja andBodegas Bilbaínas, when the wineswere agedfor long periods in suchcontainers.
Viticulture
The DOCa Rioja is a puzzle of soils,varieties and climates bringingdifferentnuancesandcomplexitytoitswines. In creating this wine we haveused Tempranillo, native to northernRioja. In the Rioja Alta sub-region,Tempranillo achieves its full ageingpotential thanks to a combination ofclay-limestone soils and an Atlanticclimate, giving fresh, elegant, subtlewinesTheGarnachaTinta fromRiojaBajabrings freshnessandaromasofred fruit with a flavour some mouth,turningtheblendintoaclassicRioja.
Sensorycharacteristics
Brightredwithpurplehues.Theblendisappreciableinthespicyfloralnotesof the Tempranillo. Its aromasof darkfruit, violets and liquorice interminglewith the flavour some red fruit of theGarnacha.
In themouth, ithasapowerful, fleshyentry which immediately gives way tosensations of freshness andbalance,leading to an after taste with hints ofcocoa,mineralsandcoffee.
Pairing
We recommend it with tapas, pastadishes, young cheese, chicken, char-grilledvegetablesandbarbecues

Bodegas Bilbaínas pays tribute to Rioja wine, creating this blend of GarnachaTinta on a base of Tempranillo. The ageing method, employing the winery’sclassic500litrehogsheads,givethiswineuniquetraits.
