A lot has been happening on the tennis side with the final event in the Winter Series held on Sunday August 28, the Mens and Ladies Doubles tournament. We had a high standard of competitive tennis on the day with the winners being – Div 1 Mens Brett Patten and Peter Schoolkate, Div 2 Allan Blakeney and Peter Hille. In the Ladies, Div 1 was won by Geraldine Watson and Jan Truscott and Div 2 by Moira Baker and Sharon Crudeli. Thanks to Roger Grant for a very well organised day. Nominations for the Australian Team Championships in Adelaide in January close on 29 September so if you would like to play contact Debra Kirk on 9228 2918 or [email protected]. Coming up on Oct 13-16 we have the ITF WA State Senior Championships. It is shaping up to be a fantastic tournament with many high quality entries Already, including many from other states and some from overseas. Events in- clude ITF Singles and doubles and well as non ITF doubles and mixed doubles. Enter via the IPIN website for ITF events or by email to TSWA for non ITF dou- bles events. All matches will be played on grass which our new curator, Robbie Firns says should be playing well after considerable work over the winter. A good chance to get some competitive matches before the opening of summer pennants. The association has engaged an interior designer to provide options for some well needed upgrades to the clubhouse and grounds. You should see some improvements in the near future. Hoping to see you on court soon. ment, knowledge of players and her personal calm demeanour allows for a well-run annual

Australian Teams Carnival in 2017 will be hosted by Tennis Seniors

Adelaide.

Teams Week: 8—13 January

Individual Championships 15 –20 January.

TEAMS CARNIVAL

The Teams Carnival is a doubles competition for both women and men and is a wonderful opportunity

to compete against teams and players from all over Australia and overseas. Enter a team with your

friends through your State, or nominate in your State and be selected in a team. All international

teams’ enquiries should be directed to [email protected]

Teams should ideally consist of 5 or 6 players, and will play other teams in their division in a round

robin competition.

Teams are grouped according to player age, in 5 or 10 year brackets from age 35 years, and are placed

in divisions within an age bracket according to team strength.

Teams may play two matches per day (morning and afternoon) with a time limit of 2.5 hours per

match. Matches consist of 4 doubles and are played using the best of 2 set format.

Team members must play in their State or National tops or shirts.

Social functions are organised during the week, and there is an official opening on Sunday afternoon

after the practice sessions on 8th January 2017.
