Queridos feligreses.
El 15 de mayo completamos los pagos del préstamo de $
163,916 que recibimos en 2015 para complementar las
contribuciones iniciales para construir el ala de expansión
de dos pisos de $ 2,285,560 que incluye las nuevas oficinas
de educación religiosa, salas de reuniones y aulas. Este es
un logro importante que nosotros, como comunidad par-
roquial, hemos alcanzado.
El proyecto de construcción de $ 2,880,040 en 2005 incluyó
el salón y las oficinas de la parroquia y las aulas escolares y
de educación religiosa. Actualmente, $ 999,265.78 se
quedan y los pagos se realizan cada mes.
Debido a su generosidad y preocupación, estos proyectos se
iniciaron y los compromisos financieros se cumplieron a lo
largo del tiempo. Gracias por ayudar a crear una parroquia
que siempre está lista para servir y orar.

Dear Parishioners.
On May 15 we completed the payments for the $163,916
loan that we received in 2015 to supplement the initial
contributions to build the $2,285,560 two-story expansion
wing including the new religious education offices, meeting
rooms and classrooms. This is an important milestone
that we as a parish community have attained.
The 2005 building project of $2,880,040 included the
parish hall and offices and the school and religious educa-
tion classrooms. Presently, $999,265.78 remains and
payments are made each month.
It is because of your generosity and caring that these pro-
jects were begun and the financial commitments are met
over time. Thank you for helping to create a parish that is
always ready to serve and to pray.
As we continue forward let us devote ourselves every more
truly to the Virgin Mary. She will guide and help us to walk
in the pathways of Our Lord.
Holy Mary, Mother of my Savior I choose you this day for
my queen, patroness and advocate and firmly resolve to
honor you. Receive me as your perpetual servant and as-
sist me in all my actions and do not abandon me at the
hour of my death. Amen.

Dear Parishioners,
An important part of Confession is the Act of Contri-
tion. It is a tradition in our Holy Faith that the person
who is receiving absolution recite an Act of Contri-
tion. This prayer puts into words the necessary ele-
ment of contrition or sorrow for sins.
In the Rite of Penance, the official ritual of the
Church for Confession, ten options are provided for
the Act of Contrition.
Two of the options are printed here to help provide a
fresh outlook on contrition.

Lord Jesus Christ, you are the Lamb of God;
you take away the sins of the world.
Through the grace of the Holy Spirit restore me
to friendship with your Father and cleanse me
from every stain of sin in the blood you shed for me,

One Step is Enough is a biography of John Henry New-
man, a 19th century British theologian and historian.
Newman was raised in the Anglican Church and became
an Anglican priest and a professor at Oxford. Over time he
became critical of both the evangelical emphasis on dra-
matic personal conversion as well as the merely academ-
ic or intellectual Christianity that was common at Oxford.
He believed in the need for critical thinking as well as
intense prayerful devotion. This led Newman to promote
the idea of “via media” or a middle way between Protes-
tantism and Catholicism. But when he offered a new in-
terpretation of the 39 articles of the Anglican Church, he
faced intense opposition from within his denomination.
Finally in 1845, Newman became a Roman Catholic. His
legacy is that of a prophetic thinker whose ideas pro-
foundly influenced the Second Vatican Council of the
1960’s. Newman died in 1890 and was beatified in 2010
by Pope Benedict XVI.
Bernard Guillaumet, un periodista francés no cristiano, recibe como asig-nación la tarea de hacer un reportaje en Lourdes en los años 1990s. Justo antes de su viaje a Lourdes, Bernard se da cuenta que su esposa está emba-razada.
