Overview Superior performance, low cost and compact design are just a few reasons why “vertical induced gas flotation” is the preferred technology for removing hydrocarbons and solids from produced water.

For more than 20 years, vertical induced gas flotation remains the number one choice of major and independent oil companies for treating produced water on their onshore, offshore and floating production facilities.

Accelerated Production Systems (APSI) vertical gas flotation cells will remove up to 98% of insoluble hydrocarbons and suspended solids from produced water in a compact design that takes up less deck space and weighs less than competitor systems.

Our flotation cells are designed to operate under pitch and roll conditions on deep water Spars, Tension Leg Platforms and FPSO facilities.

APSI vertical flotation units have no internal moving parts like motorized aeration mechanisms and wiper blade assemblies to adjust and maintain, so maintenance costs are low.

Gas tight ASME Code vessels prevent noxious vapor releases to the atmosphere and Accelerated Production Systems flotation cells are shipped completely assembled and shop tested. Installation costs are minimal.

Process DescriptionNatural gas entrained in the produced water is liberated in the form of fine gas bubbles into the untreated influent stream by circulating water through a venturi eductor and specially designed gas diffuser.

The highly gasified influent water enters the vessel though a specially designed gas-liquid diffuser which achieves maximum gas bubble to contaminant adhesion. About AcceleratedCompact Design• – APSI vertical vessel systems take up less deck space and weigh less than conventional flotation cells.

Pressure Vessel Design• – fabricated to ASME Code VIII and other applicable standards.

Standard Eductors and Gas •Diffusers – APSI uses standard off-the- shelf gas eductors and diffusers, (not low porosity single pass gas spargers which are highly susceptible to plugging with mineral deposits and consume high volumes of gas for the flotation process).

Standard ANSI Centrifugal Pumps •used by APSI are far less expensive and easier to maintain than special Dissolved Gas Flotation (DGF) Pumps offered in competitor float cells.

Maximum Turndown Capacity• – Turndown capability is 100% allowing the system to be operated at reduced flow rates with absolutely no impact on water quality performance.

Intermittent Skim Cycles• – Skim volumes of 1%, or less of the processing rate is achieved with periodic skimming of oil and solids as compared to continuous skimming with mechanical skimmer blades which can generate skim volumes of 10%, or greater.

High Oil Detector• – prevents off-spec water excursions by automatically diverting flow from the water outlet to the skim outlet when upsets in upstream equipment cause high oil loading.

Alarm contacts• on the oil sensor will alert operating personnel and/or shut the unit down until the upset condition is cleared.

Motion Insensitive Vertical Vessel• is designed to operate under pitch and roll conditions on Spars, TLP and FPSO facilities.

Skid Mounted Packages• – single lift skid mounted packages are complete with pumps, valves, instruments, controls, tubed and wired for fast and easy installation. Accelerated Production Systems equipment packages meet all MMS, U.S. Coast Guard and other applicable regulations.

Capacities• – single unit capacities range from 1,000 to 150,000 BWPD in vessels diameters ranging from 2.5 feet to 14 feet.

Advantages Low Capital Cost •Low Installation Cost•Low Operating (low power •requirements)Low Maintenance (no internal moving •parts)Low Skim Rates (< 1% of processing •rate)Low Gas Make-up (< 1 standard cubic •foot per barrel processed)Easy to Operate (minimal operator •attention is required)Compact Design (small footprint and •less weight)ASME Code Pressure Vessels•Standard ANSI Centrifugal Pumps (not •special DGF Pumps)Standard Gas Eductors (no porous metal •gas spargers)Motion Insensitive (for operation on •Spars, TLPs and FPSO facilities)

Primary Upstream and Downstream Treating Systems – Accelerated Production Systems vertical float cells can be packaged with vertical water skimmers, hydrocyclones and nut shell filters.
