A missionary, in a recent preaching, said that

each of us is born with a bank account called

the “Universal Heavenly Bank” aka UHB. In

this UHB account, all of us are ‘millionaires’

because Jesus has generously given His

self-giving love into our bank accounts. The

UHB account increases whenever we love.

On the other hand, when we choose not to

love, then our bank account inevitably

depreciate.

How then is your “Universal Heavenly Bank”

account? Full to the brim? Dwindling by the

day?

The more love we pass to others, the more

love we will have! Genuine love comes when

we are able to see our enemies and opt to

behave decently and humanely towards

them.

Is this even possible?- You might wonder.

We have no problem showing our affection

and devotion to those we love most.

However, it is a real challenge to even be

nice to someone whom have hurt us or is a

the cause of unrest.

Is it possible for the rose to say, 'I will give

my fragrance to the good people who smell

me, but I will withhold it from the bad?' Or is

it possible for the lamp to say, 'I will give my

light to the good people in this room, but I will

withhold it from the evil people'? Or can a

tree say, 'I'll give my shade to the good

people who rest under me, but I will withhold

it from the bad'? These are images of

what love is about.

It is difficult, but not impossible to show our

love to all, even the unlovable in our lives.

This is because love is an act of the will. As

M.Scott Peck wrote: “Love is as love does.

Love is an act of will -- namely, both an

intention and an action. Will also implies

choice. We do not have to love. We choose

to love.”

Let us not be concerned so much of how to

gain love, but to keep asking ourselves: How

can I become a more loving person? How

can I increase my UHB account?
