    . Inspect the bore gage visually as follows:

    Check for damage and excessive wear.

    Check for worn contact tips on gage andextension rods.

    Check for clear bezel, legible dial face.

    Inspect for proper function of the bezeladjustment and lock.

    Inspect for missing or lose screws.

    Check for smoothness of travel by depressingthe bore gage contact point throughout theentire travel range. Repair any gages withrestricted movement prior to calibration.

    2. Clean both of the receiver pads and the

    mounting surfaces of the bore gage fixtureusing the cloth and ZEP I.D. Red cleaner.

    3. Locate the bore gage fixture. With the bridge

    facing to the right, place the bore gage fixture

    against the left receiver pad shoulder.

    Setup

    Materials Needed:

    MIC TRAC MT-3000 base unit and CPU readout 5/32" hex wrench

    Bore gage 30 in/lb torque wrench

    Bore gage fixture (TF-VN Block) and cap screws Cloth

    Flat face anvil (TF-1F Block) cap screws and washers ZEP I.D. Red cleaner

    4. While holding the bore gage fixture against thereceiver pad shoulder, insert the two cap

    screws into the holes on either side of the

    fixture.

    5. While applying pressure toward the receiver

    pad shoulder, use a 5/32" hex wrench to

    slightly tighten the screws.

    6. Use a 30 in/lbs torque wrench to secure the

    cap screws.

    7. Clean the flat face anvil and place it against the

    right receiver pad shoulder.

    8. While holding the anvil against the receiver padshoulder, insert the two cap screws withwashers into the holes on either side of theanvil.

    9. While applying pressure toward the receiver

    pad shoulder, use a 5/32" hex wrench to

    slightly tighten the screws.

    10. Use a 30 in/lb torque wrench to secure the capscrews.

    Setup

    11. Loosen the knob on top of the bore gage fixture

    to allow the bore gage to slip under the bridge.

    Note: Attach an extension rod on the bore gage

    before mounting.

    12. Insert the bore gage extension under the bridge

    and gently tighten the knob.

    13. Turn the coarse adjust knob counterclockwise

    until the contact point of the bore gage touches

    the flat face anvil.

    14. Lock the coarse adjust lock.

    15. Turn the fine adjust knob clockwise until the

    bore gage dial travels of a full revolution.

    16. Turn the bore gage dial to align the needle with

    zero.

    17. Press the PLUS/MINUS pad on the CPU panel

    to display positive values during calibration.

    MIC TRAC MT-3000 base unit and CPU readout 5/32" hex wrench

    Seiko printer (optional) Lightweight gage oil

    Bore gage Gage Calibration Record

    1. Press the INT (internal measurement) pad onthe front panel of the CPU.

    2. Press the ZERO pad on the CPU panel twice.The readout displays 0.00000.

    3. Turn the fine adjust knob clockwise to the first

    calibration value.

    Note: If you pass the calibration value, turn the

    dial back and approach the value again,

    from the same direction. This practice will

    increase the accuracy of the calibration.

    4. If you have a Seiko Printer attached to your

    MIC TRAC for printing a permanent record of

    calibration measurements, press the PRINT

    pad on the CPU panel.

    5. Record any deviations on the Gage Calibration

    Record or in-house calibration report. Continue

    with remaining measurements.

    6. Remove the bore gage and continue with the

    same calibration process for the next bore

    gage.

    7. After calibrating all bore gages, remove the

    bore gage fixture and the flat face anvil from

    the MT-3000. Oil the fixture and anvil and

    return them to the storage case.

    MIC TRAC MT-3000 base unit and CPU readout Bore gage

    Computer 5/32" hex wrench

    CALSPEX software Lightweight gage oil

    ComWin32 software Brother P-Touch Label Printer (optional)

    1. Start ComWin32 software by double clickingthe ComWin32 icon. The ComWin RS232Handler window displays.

    Note: This software allows the computer to

    read the output from the serial port ofthe CPU.

    2. Click the down arrow to select the propersetting for the COM port the computer is using.For example, general2 is the setting for COMport 2.

    Note: To have measured values from the

    calibration recorded in CALSPEX, be surethat the box beside Press Add to ListButton is selected.

    3. Minimize ComWin32. This program must berunning while using CALSPEX.

    4. Start CALSPEX by double clicking theCALSPEX icon.

    5. Click the New Calibration Report icon and the

    Pick List window displays.

    The gages available in the Pick List are thoseyou have created yourself or gage typesprovided by CALSPEX.

    6. Select the bore gage from the Pick List.

    7. Click the OK button. The Header Informationwindow displays for entering information aboutthe company whose gage is being calibrated.

    . Complete the following header information:

    Contact - name of person to contactregarding the gage.

    Department - department to which the gagebelongs.

    PO/Account - purchase order or accountnumber.

    Calibration Date - automatically displays,but can be changed by typing over thedisplayed date.

    Certified By - name of the person certifyingthe gage.

    9. Click the Next button. The Gage Informationwindow displays.

    10. Enter the following information about the gage

    you are calibrating:

    Control Number - unique identification

    number for the gage.

    Gage Manufacturer

    Model Serial Number

    Description

    Location

    11. Click the Next button The window for entering

    beginning and ending calibration values

    displays.

    12. Type the beginning and ending calibration

    values and the increment values for the bore

    gage.

    13. Click the Next button. The Tolerances window

    displays.

    14. Enter the tolerances for the bore gage.

    15. Click the Next button. The calibration values

    table displays.

    16. Enter the gage measurements in the Measuredcolumn as follows:

    Turn the fine adjust knob clockwise to thefirst calibration value.

    Note: If you pass the calibration value, turn thedial back and approach the value again,from the same direction. This practice will

    increase the accuracy of the calibration.

    Press the PRINT pad on the CPU.

    CALSPEX records the value and displays agreen box in the In/Out column if the value iswithin tolerance. A red box displays if the valueis not within tolerance. The Deviation columnshows the deviation of the measured valuefrom the master value.

    17. Using each master value, continue measuring

    the bore gage until all values are recorded in

    CALSPEX.

    18. Click the Next button. The Next

    Calibration/NIST window displays.

    19. Change the Next Calibration Date, if

    necessary, by typing over the displayed date.

    20. Click the Next button. The Pass/Fail window

    displays.

    21. Click the Pass this Gage option or Fail this

    Gage option to report the condition of the gage.

    You can pass a gage even if CALSPEX has

    determined that the gage measurementsrecorded are not within tolerance.

    22. Click the Next button. The Save As window

    displays.

    Note: CALSPEX automatically assigns a filename

    to each calibration. DO NOTchange the

    filename to avoid problems with the

    CALSPEX database.

    23. Click the Save button. The Gage Status

    window displays.

    24. Click the Update button to update the Recall

    Database.

    Note: If you have a Brother P-Touch Label

    Printer for printing calibration stickers,

    the Confirm window for printing a

    calibration tag displays.

    25. If the Confirm window displays, click the Yes

    button to print the Calibration Tag. Affix the

    Calibration Tag to the bore gage.

    26. The Calibration Summary displays and showsthe calibration information for the bore gage.

    27. Remove the bore gage and continue with the

    same calibration process for the next bore

    gage.

    28. After calibrating all bore gages, remove the

    bore gage fixture and the flat face anvil from

    the MT-3000. Oil the fixture and anvil and

    return them to the storage case.
