I believe in the realm of reconciling ministries in the Great Plains conference you are leading the way and it is awesome. This weekend brought 50 people together to begin working on ideas to move us forward on the issue of ending LGBT discrimination in the United Methodist Church. He spoke Friday night to about 90 people and then again on Saturday during the conference and Sunday morning during worship. Special thanks to the Honorable Richard D. There are always great things happening here at College Hill and I for one couldn’t be prouder of who we are, where we are and where we stand. Thanks again, brian

Vicki Hitchcock CHUM Volunteer Vicki has been with us at College Hill for 35 years. Her favorite service is the first one on Sunday mornings at 8:30am. Vicki spent her career in education. She was a special education teacher. We are grateful to Vicki for the time she spends volunteering in the church office on Fridays, Saturdays and whenever needed. She is a member of both the bell choir and the chancel choir. She is quite musically talented! She is currently a member of the trustees as well as CHUM Foundation. You may know that she loves to sing and that she and her father, Joe Sims, have been involved with a choir of seniors outside of the church but… Did you know she played the clarinet from fifth grade through college? Appreciate all you do Vicki!

Liturgists Are Needed If you have never been asked to serve as a liturgist in one of our S u n d a y m o r n i n g Celebrations, and would like to help in this capacity, please contact Debbie Snell in the church office, 683-4643. We would love to add you to the list for your favorite service and call upon you now and then

to be the liturgist. Thank you to those who willingly help on a regular basis!

KIDDO PLAYTIME Wednesdays ( 9/3/14 through 5/27/15) 9:30am - 1:00pm Kiddo Playtime is a ministry with our youngest children. Our goal is to provide a safe and enriching environment for young children (18 months to 4 years old) to play once a week. It is also a wonderful opportunity for caregivers to take a breather and enjoy time to themselves. The cost of Kiddo Playtime is $50.00 per month. Please bring a sack lunch for your child to enjoy. Registration forms are available in the church office, on the children’s ministry bulletin board and in the church nursery. If you have any questions, please contact Rev. Dayna Hauschild by calling the church office or by email: [email protected]. You can also contact Terri Bohanan via email at [email protected].

members ill, so do keep your prayers going to all our members and shut ins.

fine Sunday morning. Happy Birthday this week to Dee Eades. Good thoughts

sent to Barry Stanley - he is home from rehab. Round Table featured Dr. William

Mallard and Sister Joan Chittister discussing "What Does God Want from Us?"

Tabletalk focused on if God wants us to 'get it', what is the "it" God wants us to

get. Sunday, Sister Joan and Dr. Mallard will focus on "What Does God Want

Us To Do about Evil?"

DOUBLE CIRCLE, Rm. B4 - Bob, our teacher, opened class with prayer. Paul

was back in class doing well and ready to start his rehab. Don gave devotions.

Robin played the piano for us. Candy’s picture was in the Eagle this morning.

She does sewing for Wichita Music Theater, so no wonder they are so well

dressed! We want to thank the group for the great indoor summer picnic we had

without any flies or mosquitoes. What good food! Attendance 13. Thank God

for the beautiful weather we are having. Bye till next time.

without much joy or celebration. The following Sunday, August 17, we begin

exploring Marcus Borg's newest book about his life's journey and understanding

of our Christian faith. Visitors always welcome!

SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS NOTES CLASSES MEET AT 9:40 AM UNLESS NOTED

Teachers Needed for Children’s Church School Ministry happens best when it is shared! After a year of service, some of our teachers are taking a well-deserved break. This creates opportunities for others to step up and become involved in the lives of our children. Currently we are in need of 2nd & 3rd grade teachers and pre-school leadership. Teaching materials are supplied along with the resources to make it a great experience for all involved. The hope is to create teams for each age level so a rotation can be set up to increase flexibility and lessen burnout. The new teams need to be in place by Sunday, September 7. Please consider being on a team! Contact Dayna Hauschild if you are interested.

Doormat Orders Being Taken Now As the Mission team begins to plan their trip to Cookson Hills with all the Christmas In July donations, they are also planning to return home with all doormats we order. These popular mats are made by recycling used car tires into doormats which gives jobs to recovering addicts and former offenders. The orders are needed by Sunday, September 7 and will be ready for pickup Monday, October 13. You have 3 sizes to choose from a wide variety of bead colors too. The costs are $10, $15, or $20. Stop by the church office for an order form.

United Methodist Church A Reconciling Congregation

Wise in the Ways of the Spirit, Bold in the Ways of Justice, and Graceful in relationship

with all Creation.

You Can Help… Volunteers are always needed to help each 3rd Saturday of the month. On the Friday before, Phil needs help setting up the groceries that are brought in and he would appreciate anyone that is willing to come in for 1 - 2 hours late Friday morning. Anyone wishing to help that Saturday morning can show up around 8:30am and help til 11:00am if possible. We couldn’t run this program without the help of all our volunteers and we appreciate all that each of you do to help make this program the success that it is to help those in need! Wednesday Evening Snack Suppers Just looking ahead, we would like to once again offer Wednesday evening snack suppers prior to the classes and activities taking place each Wednesday evening beginning September 10th. We are changing the time for snack supper so that it will run from 6:00 - 6:30pm. Give some thought to hosting one or more evenings on your own, with your Sunday school class, or with your friends. Great time for fellowship!
