When I think of great Thai food, I think Chili Cha Cha! They have good variety and great prices. My favorite is the Thai Spicy Pan Fried Noodles with Chicken. I love spicy noodles but be aware- if you can’t take the heat ask them to make it mild!

Is it coincidence or kismet that Hayes Valley features the gloriously Teutonic restaurant Suppenkuche and outdoor suds guzzlery Biergarten? If you can shnitzel it, Suppenkuche serves it in a cozy, family style dining room that will makes you feel like everyone knows your name. Biergarten is a blessing in a city with few informal outdoor drinking options. The beer is all German and the atmosphere relaxed, the food is pretty good too but the most important parts of the equations here are beer + outside = awesome.

3 words: Smitten Ice Cream. Believe all the hype you read and hear, this is hands down the most amazing ice cream in the city. Who would have thought liquid nitrogen in a cryogenic cauldron would be so tasty?!?

Envelope Architecture and Design are a collaborative design firm that are reinventing the way we use urban spaces. The most recent project of this award-winning firm is Proxy SF. Located in Hayes Valley, this two-block project utilizes renovated shipping containers to mobilize an environment of food, art, culture and retail. I love the way they reinventing Hayes Valley and showing us the future of urban living. I can’t wait to see their next project!
