• Estas palabras son del idioma Garifuna. Este idioma es Arawakan. Solamente se habla en Central America (Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala y Belize)
• Las palabras significa “Would you like very good soup? A little bit for you!
• Sopa de caracol es un plato característico de la costa de Honduras.
Sabes a Chocolate
• Chocolate mexicano tiene sabores de canela, almendras y vainilla
• Chocolate mexicano tiene una textura más granulada que otros chocolates.
• Pero esta canción no es chocolate, es sobre una mujer.

Why is it called a “boot” verb?
• The stems that change, are in the shape of a boot when you conjugate!
• There are 3 types of stem changing verbs that we will learn today:– e changes to i– e changes to ie– o changes to ue
Stem-Changing or “Boot” Verbs• Verbs whose stem or root changes when you
conjugate!• To find the stem, simply drop off AR, ER, or IR• Ex. Pedir & Servir (e – i) – Ped -Ser
• Ex. Poder & Probar (o – ue) – Pod -Prob
• Ex. Preferir (e – ie) – Prefer
Vamos a tratar!• Pedir (e – i) – to ask for or to order• Drop -ir to get the stem. Change the e to an i
in the stem for all except Nosotros, Vosotros • Use the regular verb endings

• With construction paper, draw 3 boots on the page.
• Choose 1 (e – i) verb, 1 (e – ie) verb, and 1 (o – ue) verb to put on your boots.
• Find additional verbs on p. 205, 278 & R27 (in the back) of the blue textbook
• Remember! Nosotros and vosotros are outside of the ankle part of the boot!
