Światło (Light) Foundation supports persons who live in an apallic state(coma).
The socially and health-related marginalizataion leads them to containment in their bodies, without any chances to connect with their surroundings (family).
A need to abolish existing stereotypes about people in coma: They sleep! NOT TRUE: They live differently!
It is estimated that there are about 8,000 people each year in this condition.
Fundacja ,,Światło” in Toruń admitted 1,008 patients since 2003:• 74 awakened so far • for 60% of patients it was possible to determine the degree of
consciousness (deny the vegetative state), which translated into further therapy
• 85% of all patients are young people after transportation/car accidents • 14% of patients have had heart attacks, strokes • 1% of patients went to the ward as a result of flooding, suicide attempts

The Valores investmentThe objective
• To build a diagnostic platform to differentiate states of reduced awareness and neuropsychological assessment of patients after severe brain injuries.
The solution
Platform cooperating with compatible sensors (eye-tracker, pulse oximeter, HD EEG, galvanometer, etc.), allowing to present correlation between sensor readings at a given time and recording results in a standardized way - easy to analyze (reaction to stimuli resulting from the level of consciousness).
The platform will :
1. Be an independent diagnostic tool (commercial).
2. Be a neuropsychophysiological diagnosis tool of patients in states of reduced consciousness.
3. Help to develop diagnostic standards.
THE MOST IMPORTANT PURPOSE:Finding medical correlations in this group of people.
By introducing diagnostics use of the platform, the Foundation becomes a leader in the diagnosis of the patient in an apallic state. Practically, this will allow objective diagnostics and adaptation of tailoredindividual therapy. Currently, it is an unexplored area from medical perspective.
