User Experience (UX) Design is a human-centred approach to designing digital products and services, like an app or a website, ensuring the final product is both user-friendly and profitable.

UX Designers place the user at the centre of the development process and go through cycles of ideation, observation, research, testing and refinement to ensure the product is easy and intuitive to use.

User Interface (UI) Design focuses on the look, feel, and interactivity of a digital product or service. UI Designers consider the layout, grid, typography, and colour of each feature on screen.

UI Designers design all visual elements that a user will interact with, such as buttons, scrollbars, dropdown menus, icons, and more.

Market trends in Australia show that designers with an understanding of both UX and UI have stronger employment outcomes.

Every time you use a digital product, your experience of it and the impression it leaves is the result of “good” or “poor” UX and UI design. Knowing that one in three consumers will walk away from a brand they love after just one bad experience, it’s clear that UX UI design has the potential to directly impact a company’s bottom line.

UX UI is central to any business’ strategy across all industries. Most design roles require an understanding of both in order to bridge the gap between a business’ goals and users’ needs. Australian hiring managers and recruiters report that employment demand for designers with both UX and UI skills far outweighs the supply.

If you want to land a job right away*, our UX UI Transform course is for you. This comprehensive 24 weeks online course will equip you with the full spectrum of theoretical and practical skills required in a well-rounded UX UI Designer. We’ve got such a well proven track record that this course is covered by our Job Guarantee*.

Whether you enter the course as a complete beginner or a working professional from another industry, by the end of this program, you’ll be able to craft human-centred digital experiences, websites and apps - skills than can seriously boost your career and salary, as UX UI Designers in Australia earn on average $110,000.

Portfolio assessment

Our graduates are recognised by the industry to possess the essential knowledge and skills expected of a UX UI Designer. To ensure you achieve the specified outcomes, this course is split into three phases, with criteria to move from one phase to another. It also includes an assessment which is mandatory for you to graduate from the course.

The primary method of assessment is through a portfolio. Through the two live client projects and other course activities, you’ll build various assets which will form the basis of your portfolio. The course will lead you through the process of defining, designing and developing

your UX UI approach and concepts. You’ll document your design thinking, problem solving and UX UI skills in your portfolio, presenting it to your mentor at the end of the course. Your mentor will then review it and provide structured feedback through a live or recorded video session on what you have done well and ways you can improve.

To prepare for this formal assessment, you can test your knowledge with topic quizzes and by completing practical taskwork throughout the course to ensure you are applying techniques appropriately.
