TECHNOLOGIESMethotrexate in patients with inflammatory autoimmune diseases and

kits for performingThe technology was deposited on May 3, 2013,BR 1020130109996-7.

The invention proposes a fast and effective method forprediction of response of an individual to MTX treatment,making more efficient the treatment of inflammatory andautoimmune diseases, developing kits for identificationand quantification of a biomarker of therapeutic response.

BenefitsThis product evaluate the therapeutic response byquantifying a molecule expressed on surface of circulatingwhite blood cells. Therefore, there is a major advance forclinical practice, because it allows the optimization ofclinical selection of drugs available to treat thesediseases, besides providing a reduction in public healthsystem costs and a significant improvement in the qualityof life.

ApplicationThe method of valuation allows optimizationof clinical selection of available drugs for thetreatment of inflammatory and autoimmunediseases such as idiopathic arthritis juvenilerheumatoid arthritis, dermatomyositis,Crohn's disease, eczema, pemphigus,polymyositis, psoriasis and sarcoidosis

TECHNOLOGIESMulticomponent vaccine for reduction of tick infestations in animals

The technology was deposited on November 28, 2013, BR102013030662-2

Anti-tick vaccines are a non-polluting, sustainabletechnology to control infestations, but in order to besuccessful they must address the complex strategiesthat ticks deploy to feed on their hosts. Ashematophagous parasites, ticks reach their hosts’blood using components of their saliva to invade skinand inhibit defense responses that would otherwiseimpair their ability to attach, feed and thus reproduce

BenefitsSustainable control of tick infestations is achieved with a multicomponent vaccine that works by:• Targeting the functions of tick saliva that mediate parasitism (i.e., targeting “exposed” antigens) Limiting

feeding and numbers of ticks on hosts• Reducing eggs masses and their hatching rates, thus reducing reproductive efficiency of ticks. This effect

reduces infestations of pastures, kennels, etc.• Simplifying logistics of vaccination through good immunological memory• Affecting multiple species of ticks and protecting different species of hosts through cross-reactive antigens.

TECHNOLOGIESRecovery process of rare earth elements from fluorescent

The technology was deposited on February 28, 2014, BR1020140049509

The present invention aims to provide a safer, cleaner and more efficient way to recycle rare earths contained in fluorescent lamps.

BenefitsThe key differentiators of this invention are: • Procedures and / or robust systems (such as those

required in the case of extraction with solvents, high temperatures and pressures) are not required.

• Fluorescent lamps are highlighted as they may contain up to 25% of rare earth elements in your overall constitution.

• Process takes place in easily scalable to larger amounts experimental conditions.

• The recovery yield has between 90% and 95%.

Applications Can be applied in a multitude of industries as rare earths are essential raw materials for the industry of advanced technology, such as information technology, biotechnology, energy technology, national defense, etc.

TECHNOLOGIES

Membrane semipermeable nanofiltration for and use thereofThe technology was deposited on July 12, 2010, PI 1002556-1

The semipermeable membrane can be used in nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, purification of gases

Benefits• Can be reused up to 5 times.• High flexibility.• High durability.• Low cost of production• market competitiveness• Use of existing technologies for

production.• Not reactive.• Little susceptible to chemical attack

TECHNOLOGIESSponge for absorbing hydrophobic compounds

The technology was deposited on February 17, 2014, BR 10 2014 003621-0

The sponge has the preferred purpose of the remedy water bodies and absorb efficiently hydrophobic compounds (oils and chemicals in general), and has auto power recyclability and reuse of oil absorbed.

ApplicationsCan be applied: • Remediation of accidents involving oil water; • Remeasurement of wastewater from textile

industries • Purification of water mixed with mineral oils; • Efficient absorption of petroleum and mineral

oils; • Separation of macromolecules, glycerol,

ethanol, emulsions; • Recovery of dyes and pigments;

BenefitsThe key differentiators of this invention are: • The sponge can absorb twice its mass (2.21) and slightly

more than its own volume (1.25); • Sponges support a breakdown voltage of about 0,700 MPa

and its elongation varies around 47% of the original size. • Has an absorption capacity of up to 85% oil, occupying only

5.4% of the total area of the stain caused by the spill; • Combine the absorbing properties of apolar compounds

cucurbiturilas with the thermal resistance properties, mechanical and chemical polyurethane;

• Reuses about 99.5% of all oil retained and yet reuse the sponge for further absorptions (10X); thinning cost.

• Resistance to chemical and biological attack (biofouling)
