Using Technology To Differentiate The Customer Experience Zebra consistently explores new ways to build shopper loyalty for diverse customers across key industries — often using existing technologies in innovative ways. For example, one of Zebra’s major retail customers is breaking new ground using a proven technology, RFID, in creating a compelling, differentiated in-store shopping experience. In- store technologies, including loyalty solutions, help customize a shopper’s experience, and in the near future, help shoppers identify other garments they may want to try on through “smart shelves” in the fitting room. Despite more and more consumers going online to shop, in-store purchasing will continue to exist. However, retailers struggle with “showrooming” — in which shoppers go to brick and mortar locations to check out items in person before purchasing them online. Creating a differentiated, personalized in-store shopping experience, using Zebra technology and solutions, can help combat showrooming. Using Technology To Differentiate The Customer Experience

Zebra consistently explores new ways to build shopper loyalty

for diverse customers across key industries — often using existing

technologies in innovative ways.

For example, one of Zebra’s major retail customers is breaking

new ground using a proven technology, RFID, in creating a

compelling, differentiated in-store shopping experience. In-

store technologies, including loyalty solutions, help customize

a shopper’s experience, and in the near future, help shoppers

identify other garments they may want to try on through “smart

shelves” in the fitting room.

Despite more and more consumers going online to shop, in-store

purchasing will continue to exist. However, retailers struggle with

“showrooming” — in which shoppers go to brick and mortar

locations to check out items in person before purchasing them

online. Creating a differentiated, personalized in-store shopping

experience, using Zebra technology and solutions, can help

combat showrooming.

During NRF, Zebra is co-presenting with Motorola Solutions on

“Using Technology to Build Personal Experiences for the Omni-

Channel Shopper” on Monday, Jan. 14 from 9:15 -10:00am.

Zebra is previewing a number of new items at NRF, including

a new mobile printer designed to give retailers the ability to

print from a range of mobile devices. iMZ™ series is ideal for

printing receipts for Mobile Point of Sale applications. The

palm-sized iMZ220 and iMZ320 printers support Bluetooth®

connectivity with Apple® iOS operating system software, as

well as with Android™, Windows® Mobile and BlackBerry®

platforms — satisfying retailers’ increasing demand for

mobile printing from iPad®, iPhone® and iPod touch®, plus

other smartphone and tablet devices.

In addition to mobile POS offerings, Zebra and its partners

are demonstrating a wide range of solutions for the retail

industry, including:

• Self-service kiosk solutions that empower shoppers

and help retailers become more profitable

• Price management applications that deliver im-

proved accuracy and greater efficiency

• Consumer loyalty applications designed to help retail-

ers increase repeat shoppers, resulting in higher sales

• RFID inventory accuracy solutions that improve vis-

ibility and the customer experience

• Back-of-store receiving and inventory applications

designed to streamline operations and increase

productivity

One of the major trends in retail is mobile point

of sale; Gartner research shows that retailers are

extremely interested in it as a way to transform

the check-out experience. In its Nexus of Forces

research earlier this year, mobility — including

mobile point of sale — will be a key area of

investment for retailers going forward.

Zebra and its partner network provide retailers

with an integrated portfolio of mobile point of

sale solutions that enables merchants to achieve

their customer experience objectives and grow

their businesses. The solution approach eases

integration, allowing the merchants to quickly

move from installation to satisfied customers.

Connected to the existing infrastructure, the

Zebra solution provides enhanced visibility from

the front of the store to the back, enabling

retailers to improve customer satisfaction and

efficiency, and achieve tangible ROI results.
