Multiple sensor collection in HYSWEEP

The presentation will describe a survey done in Malta – both acquisition and processing, using a multibeam and Lidar sensor.

The use of these sensors are becoming more common, and creating a (near) seamless survey for land and sea becomes the goal

Data processing

The tools in MBMAX64 will allow you to view and edit each sensor, and create a single view of the two sensors

The capability of looking above and below the water line provide a better understanding of the survey data, and can create some very neat images

HYPACK and HYSWEEP Survey

• Single file (HSX) holds all sensor information (multibeam, LiDAR, ancillary data). File size does get large, about 25 MB/min

• Correlated windows – Target in Point CLOUD will display in main map window

Since both sensors are in a single HSX file, MBMAX64 allows the selection of each one.

Once processed as an HS2x file, the data will be combined to a single session

Conclusion

HYPACK and HYSWEEP can collect any number of sensors, including multibeam, LiDAR, sidescan, all ancillary sensors.

In Survey, the operator can view all sensors for QC

In Processing, each sensor can be processed. Separating them initially allows for different filters to be used, for example.

Afterwards, combine the data to a single file and final product
