Using Google Drive

Go to drive.google.com or click Drive in the black bar when you are signed in to any Google page
There are also apps for Android and iOS

When using Google Drive for schoolwork, be sure to use your Nuview Google Account (ending in nuview.k12.ca.us)
This gives extra options for sharing and collaborating with other students and teachers

Clicking ‘Connect more apps’ will take you to a list of many 3rd-party apps, including image, video, and music editing, and much more. Many are free, but some are not

PowerPoint● Spreadsheet is similar to Microsoft Excel● Form allows you to create surveys● Drawing has basic image creation
Uploading Files
Google Drive will store ANY file you give it (similar to Dropbox)
Just click the Upload button and point to any file or folder on your computer
Uploading Files
If you upload a Microsoft Office file, Google gives you the option to convert it to a Google Docs format so that you can edit it from your web browser.
Sometimes this introduces formatting issues, but text and data are always accurate
Downloading Files
You can save a copy of any file you have in Google Drive. With your document open, click ‘File’ then ‘Download as’ to see all your options

Choose PDF or Web Page if you are finished editing your document and want to preserve all your formatting.
The other file types are useful if you need to keep editing a document, but are unsure if you will have an internet connection

Always test your downloaded file BEFORE you need it printed, presented, etc. to make sure that everything turned out how you expected it to

Google Drive has two killer features:1.All your files are available anywhere

Use the ‘Share’ button in the upper-right to begin collaborating on a document

If you are signed in to your Nuview account, just start typing anybody’s name in the box and their email address will come up

‘Can edit’ gives full access to the document‘Can comment’ allows margin comments‘Can view’ is read-only

You can also allow greater access to your document by clicking ‘Change…’ under ‘Who has access’

Google Drive keeps backups of your work. If something is accidentally deleted, click ‘File’ then ‘See revision history’ to restore it

Coaches can also look at the revision history to make sure that all group members have been contributing to the document
Comments
Commenting is a useful way to communicate about a document without making any changes to the document itself. Right-click to leave a comment

Comments will appear off to the side, and the text related to the comment will be highlighted

People can reply to your comments to discuss the issue further
