In Toruń, a program involving people with a mobile application for phones
is worth noticing. Residents can indicate locations in the city where they
would like trees to be planted. It is possible for the "Green Toruń - my tree"
mobile application or on the website www.mojedrzewo.torun.pl. First, after
entering the website, the user will be familiar with the catalog of tree
species that are indicated for planting in the city. Then the user indicates the
location on the map. The system immediately verifies whether it is a private
area or belongs to the Municipality of Toruń. The user indicates
the purposefulness of planting and the selected species as well as the
number of trees. This application goes to the Department of Environment
and Greenery of the City of Toruń.
The program is responsible for creating an urban space in Radom with
increased resistance to climate change through the construction of green
and blue infrastructure. The program is aimed at mitigating the floods and
droughts resulting from the unstable flow of rivers affecting the area
of Radom. Improving the quality of green and blue infrastructure
by creating a variety of habitats that support shaping and maintaining
biodiversity. Improvement of the quality of life of the inhabitants
of Radom by generating a favorable microclimate in the urban space
thanks to the construction of green and blue infrastructure.
"Plant for GREENERY" is a cyclical effort taken by the City Greenery
Management to plant trees, shrubs and flowers together with the residents
of Krakow. The action began in the spring of 2017, as a response to the
massive felling of trees appearing at that time. City Greenery
Management (in polish ZZM – Zarząd Zieleni Miejskiej) invited residents
to joint planting activities. All such events are very important, because
in addition to greening they are conducive to the activation of residents.
The action has educational values. In 2017, they were planted: trees - over
2000 pieces, shrubs - 300,000 pieces, flower meadows - over 10 ha,
forests - about 4 ha.
Wrocław also has several programs related to green infrastructure.
Wrocław was in the group of 14 cities fighting for the title of the Green
Capital of Europe in 2019, which is why the program "Green arteries
of Wrocław" was created. The five entry arteries to Wrocław
are to become the real green arteries of our city. That is why green lanes
were designed as arteries on the main streets of Wrocław, leading from
trips to the beltways to the very center of the city. The "Green Arteries
of Wroclaw" project was announced in June 2015. In addition, the city
conducts many anti-smog activities.
The aim of the "Fall in love with Warsaw Green" program is to create
an urban space in Warsaw with increased resistance to climate change
through the construction of green and blue infrastructure based
on an ecosystem approach. In addition, the educational aspect
is important, encouraging residents to share common tree planting, taking
care of existing green areas, anti-smog activities, monitoring air quality
and changing furnaces. In the "Green Support to 100%" program, you can
get co-financing for your own contribution for people who have received
a subsidy from the budget of the Capital City of Warsaw - for the
implementation of the investment involving the modernization of the
boiler room and liquidate the solid fuel stove.

In the modern, highly urbanized world, there is a decreasing tendency in the number of green areas. Each space is used for new building
investments. Unfortunately, through the development of cities, the areas where valuable habitats are located are displaced. A good way
to save these places is to use green infrastructure. Green infrastructure has many functions, eg biological, climatic and technical, while
being a space that is used by people. This kind of action undeniably corresponds to the principle of sustainable development. In Poland,
more and more cities are experiencing heavy pollution with smog and other pollutants. The benefits of using green infrastructure should
determine spatial policy in many cities.
