URBAN LIFE IN THE AARHUS DOCKLANDS
The transformation of the Aarhus Docklands (Aarhus Ø) is progressing rapidly. The first phase of the new urban quar-ter is nearly complete and within the next few years the Aar-hus Docklands will be the ‘go-to destination’ for everyone, a lively city district, day and night, all year round. Hotel and conference centre, theatre, food market, offices, apartments, shopping, boutiques, cafés, restaurants and recreative urban
activities will be located, side by side, right on the waterfront. With close to 4,000 citizens, the Basin 7 quarter – the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of the Aarhus Docklands.
When completed, the Aarhus Docklands will house some 10-12,000 inhabitants and approx. 10,000 workplaces – making it among Europe’s largest waterfront development projects.
