Overview

UPS Hundredweight Service shipping is a guaranteed, reliable, cost-effective delivery for non-palletized, multiple package shipments sent to a single address on the same day . Some of its features include:

n Time-definite or day-definite delivery within 1 to 5 business days

n Up to 3 delivery attempts at no additional cost

n Fuel surcharges based on small package, not LTL

n Not subject to LTL accessorial charges, such as lift gate and inside delivery

n No pallets required

n Available with UPS Next Day Air®, UPS Next Day Air Saver®, UPS 2nd Day Air A .M .®, UPS 2nd Day Air®, UPS 3 Day Select® and UPS® Ground

n Can be conveniently picked up with your other UPS shipments

The UPS Hundredweight Service Rating ToolThe UPS Hundredweight Service Rating Tool makes rating your Less-Than-Pallet-Load (LPL) shipments easier . This tool allows you to rate shipments using your negotiated rates or published (non-negotiated) rates . The UPS Hundredweight Service Rating Tool also enables you to:

n Quickly calculate approximate shipping charges for any shipment to the U .S . 50 states and Puerto Rico

n Compare shipping charges across all service levels (from UPS Next Day Air to UPS Ground) to determine what service and price level best meet your needs

n Ability to upload up to 50 shipments and compare cost and time in transit by product

n Process UPS Hundredweight Service shipments through UPS Internet Shipping system

Minimum requirements

The following qualifications apply to all UPS Hundredweight Services Tiers 1-7 and Alaska/Hawaii.

QualificationsUPS Hundredweight Service shipping is available as a contractual service only to customers who have a Scheduled Pickup account . UPS Hundredweight Service rates apply for shipments meeting these conditions:

1. Packages addressed to a single consignee at one location within the 50 states and Puerto Rico on the same day .

2. Total shipment billable weight of 200 pounds or more for each UPS 3 Day Select or UPS Ground shipment .

3. Total shipment billable weight of 100 pounds or more for each UPS Next Day Air, UPS Next Day Air Saver, UPS 2nd Day Air A .M . or UPS 2nd Day Air shipment .

A Heavy Package sticker is required for any package weighing more than 70 pounds . Visit the “Order Supplies” Quick Link at ups .com® or call 1-800-PICK-UPS® to request Heavy Package stickers and highlight tape .

Note: Some UPS Ground shipments less than 500 pounds may be more economically rated as 500 pounds. The UPS billing system will automatically compute the shipment charges at both the shipment billed weight and at 500 pounds, compare them and bill the lower of the two.

Getting started

Using the tool

Minimum system requirementsTo use the UPS Hundredweight Service Rating Tool you will need:

n Access to Internet connection for your computer (preferably a broadband)

n 32/64 bit OS at minimum (Windows®/Safari®)

n A web browser — Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 6 or higher, Google Chrome™, Safari, or Firefox® 7 or higher

Ready to get started?1. Access ups .com® .

2. If you have a login ID, please log in with your UPS ID and password .

3. If you do not have a login ID, you can still access the rating tool, however, you will not be able to view your contracted rates .

4. Click Shipping, then Calculate Time and Cost, then UPS Hundredweight Service Rating Tool .

5. You now have access to the tool .

6. Select your UPS account that has the UPS Hundredweight Service contract .

7. If you have a UPS Hundredweight Service contract, you will be able to click View Negotiated Rates . If you do not have a contract, click View Published Rates .

Now you are ready to rate a shipment .

Getting a rate

Enter details in required fields1. Origin ZIP Code™ .

2. Destination ZIP Code .

3. Select Service level (UPS Ground, UPS Next Day Air, UPS 2nd Day Air, etc .) .

4. Select Number of Packages (minimum 2 packages per shipment) .

5. Select Commodity Tier (only available if you selected View Published Rates) .

Getting a rate

Time and cost summary1. Click Get Rate . You will notice a Time and Cost Summary section expand

at the bottom of the screen .

2. You will be able to view the following details on your shipment:

n Zone

n Time in Transit

n Gross Charges

n Net Charges

n Additional Services Charges if applicable

Processing a single shipment

After viewing your shipment rates 1. Click on Ship Now or you can go back and rate another shipment . If you click

on Ship Now you will see the screen on the right .

2. Click on Continue Shipping and you will be taken to UPS Internet Shipping . You may have to enter additional information to process your Hundredweight shipment .

Multiple shipment processing

Importing multiple shipments The UPS Hundredweight Service Rating Tool gives you the ability to import up to 50 shipments, rate and compare each shipment and also export your results to your PC .

Getting started 1. On your main UPS Hundredweight Service Rating screen, select Rate Multiple

Shipments .

2. You can either enter shipments manually or import shipments into the tool .

Importing shipments1. Create an Excel® file with the following fields and save on your PC:

n Origin ZIP Code

n Destination ZIP Code

n Service

n Number of Packages

n Shipment weight

2. Save the Excel file as a CSV (Comma delimited) file type . Refer to Help Importing UPS Hundredweight Service Batch Shipping Files using this link: http://www .ups .com/content/us/en/shipping/cwt/csv .html .

3. Click Browse and choose your saved CSV file to upload .

4. Your file will be uploaded to the tool . Click Get Rate to view rates by shipment .

5. If you would like, you can export data to your PC . Click the Export Data button .

6. On the Multiple Shipment rating screen, you do not have the option to process these shipments in UPS Internet Shipping . You will have to access UPS Internet Shipping and process each shipment individually .

Common errors

Error 1Error: If a logged-in user selects an account that does not have a UPS Hundredweight Service Contract, they will see this message .

Response: Contact UPS — http://www .ups .com/contactups .

Error 2Error: If a logged-in user has a UPS Hundredweight Service Contract but is not Account Based Rates enabled, they will get this message .

Response: Not Account Based Rates Enabled — Please go to Account Maintenance to enable your account and view negotiated rates .

Error 3Error: Total Shipment Weight — Weight input exceeds small package guidelines of 150 lbs . per package .

Response: You have packages that are overweight according to small package guidelines (>150 lbs .) . Update shipment weight or proceed to our Freight Calculate Time and Cost page .

Error 4Error: User tries to import an improperly formatted file .

Response: There is a problem with the file you are uploading . Make sure your file is formatted properly and saved as a CSV file . Refer to Help Importing UPS Hundredweight Service Batch Shipping Files using this link: http://www .ups .com/content/us/en/shipping/cwt/csv .html .

Response: There is a problem with the file you are uploading . Make sure your file is formatted properly and saved as a CSV file .

Error 6Error: Get Rates — Please enter all details in the highlighted row to obtain a rate .

Response: Missing Data — Incomplete data is entered or selected into a row in the “Multiple Shipments Table .”

Error 7Error: No Contract Shipment Notice — user is viewing published rates and then clicks the Ship Now button .

Response: Contact UPS — http://www .ups .com/contactups .

Error 8Error: Multiple Shipment Warning — User entered shipment information into the Multiple Shipment Details table and then selected the View Single Rates radio button .

Glossary

Commodity tier — UPS Hundredweight Service rate tier levels are assigned based upon UPS’s analysis of the specific shipment characteristics tendered in the UPS Hundredweight Service Rating Tool . Denser items have a Tier 1 rating . This would include commodities like nuts and bolts . Less dense items have a Tier 7 rating . This would include commodities such as pillows and lampshades .

Gross charges — Transportation charge plus any additional costs prior to the application of any discounts .

LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) shipments — Require pallets and weigh between 150 and 20,000 lbs ., generally consolidated from various shippers .

Net charges — Gross charges minus any discounts plus additional charges and fuel surcharge .

Residential address — A residential delivery is defined as delivery to a location that is a home, including a business operating out of a home .

Shipment — A quantity of goods or cargo that are shipped together . Can be a single item or multiple items .

Shipment reference — An identifier that you define by completing the “reference” fields during the shipping process . This reference could be a purchase order (PO) number, a customer number, a company name, a Bill of Lading number, or a phrase that identifies that shipment — such as “10 crates” or “gift for Mom .” Shipment references can be any combination of letters and numbers up to 35 characters .

Time in transit — Time it takes for a shipment to be delivered .

Total shipment weight — The combined weight of all packages within the shipment .

Zone — A pre-determined section of the U .S . based on origin ZIP Code .
