Term 2 Week 9
Upper Coopers Creek Public School
Respect, Understanding and Responsibility
Wednesday 20th June
2017
Dear Families and Friends,
Happy Winter Solstice to everyone. We are all getting very excited about the Lantern Parade this
Saturday evening. We will be meeting at Victoria Rd, next to the skate park at 4.45 - 5.00pm and
will walk along the route to Oaks Oval. Families can then decide if they would like to watch the
Finale at Oakes Oval. The Finale is a ticketed event, which means everyone who wants to see
the finale will need to either have a wristband to sit on the grass or have bought a ticket to sit in
the outer-stands or grandstand. We have been given 2 wristbands for each child who has made
a lantern which we will give out
before the parade. What to
wear/bring: The Lantern Parade
crew have advised ‘Natural Fibres
only, with no synthetics or floaty
bits’. If you are staying for the Fina-
le it is a good idea to carry a
backpack with rugs or tarps to sit
on and some food, snacks and
water.
‘ This is such an exciting looking
classroom!’ - Nabeela. Huge
thank you to Brett for making the
tall desks for the classroom. The
children love them and they look
fantastic. We also now have the
gorgeous new flexible furniture in the classroom. All our new furniture not only looks incredible, it
gives students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them. Flexible learning
classrooms have also been shown to help children to work collaboratively, communicate, and
engage in critical thinking.
More thanks. Thanks Ryan and Jenny Smith for
continuing to read with the students every
week. Thank you to Jolita and Andi for a very
popular canteen last Friday. And thank you Na-
dine for applying for the Eco Grant for the
school. We know how much work went into this
and we really appreciate everything you’ve
done.
