Please Follow These Steps to Update Your GUI and NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC)

Why should I do this?

The SAP GUI for Windows version 6.20 and version 7.10 are no longer supported. The

SAP GUI for Windows version 7.20 will no longer be supported after the 9th

of April 2013.

Failure to update your SAP GUI may result in issues operating SAP!

This software is approximately 1 GB in size. This will take you at least an hour or more to

download. Please note that you must be connected to the Capgemini network to download

the software. This means that you must be in the office or connected to VPN. Once you

have downloaded the software you no longer need to be connected to the Capgemini

network.

1. Create a new folder on your desktop called “SAP Update” by right clicking on thedesktop, put your curser over the “New” option, and then click “folder”.

2. Once created, it will allow you to rename the folder. Name the folder “SAP Update” for

the purposes of this walkthrough.

3. To obtain the file that will allow you to upgrade your existing GUI to 7.30, please follow

this link using Internet Explorer:

4. Click on the Save button that appears

5. Save the file to the “SAP Update Folder”.

6. Before continuing, close all programs currently running on your computer. This includes

both Outlook and Communicator. The installation will produce an error if Outlook is

open.

7. Once you have downloaded the file, double click on the “SAP Update” folder on your

desktop.



8. Double click on “SAP GUI 730 Update Package.7z” to launch the extractor.

9. When the extractor launches, highlight all the files, and click the “Extract” button in the

upper left hand corner.

10. The window shown below will pop up. Click the “OK” button.

11. A new box will appear to track the progress of extracting the files.



12. Once complete, open the “SAP Update” folder that was created in step 1.

The newly extracted files will appear in the folder. **NOTE: If you already have SAP

GUI 7.30 installed, please proceed to Step 23 to install the patches. **

13. Double click on the “SAPGUI_730” folder.

14. Double click on the “PRES1” folder.

15. Double click on the “GUI” folder.



16. Double click on the “Windows” folder.

17. Double click on the “Win32” folder.

18. You will then be in a directory that looks like the picture below. Double click on“SetupAll” to launch the installer.

19. Once the installer launches, click “Next”.



20. On the next screen, make sure only the “SAP GUI for Windows 7.30 (Compilation 1)”,

“KW Add-On for SAP GUI 7.30”, and “Business Explorer” options are checked. Click

“Next”.

21. The system will then begin installing the software and display the progress of the

installation.



22. After the instillation completes, click the “Click to Reboot” button. After the computer

reboots, there are more files to install.

23. Click the “Reboot Now!” button to confirm the restart.

24. Reopen the “SAP Update” folder that was created in step 1 and double click on

“gui730_2-10010496”.



25. Once the installation window opens, click the “Next” button.

26. Once completed, click the “Close” Button.

27. Go back to the “SAP Update” folder created in step 1. Double click on

“BI730SP02_200-10011800”.



28. Click the “Next” button.

29. Once completed, click the “Close” button.

30. Go back to the “SAP Update” folder created in step 1. Double click on “NWBC400_3-

10011894”.



31. Click “Next”.

32. Click “Next” again.

33. Click “Close”.



34. Go back to the “SAP Update” folder created in step 1. Double click on “xPPrint730_2-

20009691”.

35. Click “Next”.



36. Select “SAP PDFPRINT” and click “Next.

37. Click “Close”.
