Milltek recently designed a newperformance exhaust system for the Ford Mustang 2.3 EcoBoost; this put thecompany in an ideal position to design a similar exhaust for the Focus RS Mk3,which shares the same 2.3 litre turbocharged engine.
AmD has also produced a performance remap for the RS, just as they recently did for theMustang. When the AmD software remap and the Milltek exhaust are combined the RS reallycomes into its own, thanks to increased efficiency. Design Engineering Inc. Introduces Mini Versa Starter Shield
Protects starters and other components fromthe damaging effect of heat soak
Packing a lot of power into a small engine bay can alsomean trapping a lot of heat in there as well and that heatcan have a detrimental effect on components such asstarter motors.
America’s Design Engineering Inc. has just introduced a new Starter Shield specificallydesigned for smaller starters as found on European and Japanese four cylinder engines (andbike engined cars for that matter).
The mini Versa Starter Shield (don’t read too much into the ‘Mini’ name - it works fine on Minisbut fits a lot more besides) is made from an aluminised heat reflective material backed with ahigh temperature rated glass fibre insulation barrier.
The mini DEI Versa Shield™ protects starters and other components from failure due to heatsoak. It is capable of reflecting radiant heat up to 2000°F (approx 1100°C) and direct heat up to500°F (approx 260°C).
Its convenient hook and loop closure allows the shield to wrap around the starter and attach inminutes. Most starters will not require removal. Simply wrap the starter with the aluminised sideout, trim length to fit and secure the edges by pressing the black loop material into the sewn-instrip of black hook material.
The mini Versa Starter Shield is 5.25” (approx 13.3 cms) wide x 16.5” (approx 41.91 cms)long so will fit most small to medium sized starters.
The shield is also ideal for multiple components where heat can affect performance—mastercylinders, distributors, fuel pumps and more.

Powerflex Bushes for Ford Mustang - 2015 onGreat news for owners of the new Ford Mustang who are looking to tightenthe reins (well bushes!) on their thoroughbred horses.
Powerflex has just released a range of Rear Subframe Bush Inserts, RearDiff Mount Inserts and Front and Rear Anti Roll Bar Bushes for the 2015Mustang.
Whist developing the subframe bush inserts Powerflex noticed a potential problem - possible movement ofthe subframe to chassis. Ford use a 14mm bolt but the hole diameter through the bush is 30mm! Includedin the Rear Subframe Insert kits, PFR19-1720 and PFR19-1721, are polyurethane bolt spacers toimprove the location and restrict any lateral movement that may occur between the subframe and chassis.Both retail at £57.48 per pair including VAT.
The Rear Diff Mount Bush Inserts, PFR19-1730 and PFR19-1731, are a quick and easy way of limitingmovement of the diff, thus providing improved power delivery and stability under acceleration. Both of thesebushes also retail at £57.48 per pair including VAT.
Front and Rear Anti Roll Bar Bushes are available as parts numbered PFF19-1703-32 - (front) - andPFR19-1719-22 - (rear) - and they retail at £43.08 and £41.88 per pair, respectively, including VAT.
These parts are an ideal Stage 1 upgrade, providing a cost effective solution to reduce movementbetween the sub frame and chassis/differential without the need to remove the subframe for fitting. Stage 2upgrades with more innovative performance products will be coming soon!
