Irish set-dancing was discovered to be beneficial for People with Parkinson's, following a

Our Irish Dance Class - Wednesdays 6:45pm
Looking for a fresh way to keep your New Year's fitness resolution?
Set Dancing is the most pleasurable activity to accomplish your goals. You don't have to be young, talented or athletic. The great traditional Irish music will have you moving - and the
generous and friendly people make it something unique and special. Traditional Irish dancing is well known around the world thanks to the success of Riverdance
and other shows featuring amazing displays of solo step dancing. Mastering this type of dancing requires high levels of skill
and fitness and many hours of dedicated practice. Quite different from step dancing is Set Dancing, which is the type of traditional social dancing done strictly for pleasure all over
Ireland.

MOVIE NIGHT: DATE: January 29, 2016
TIME: 7:30 pm
Evelyn......."The story of a father's love that changed a nation"
In 1953 Desmond Doyle's wife leaves him and their children on the day after Christmas (St. Stephen's Day). At that time the Irish Constitution did not allow children to be raised in a house where there was not a woman to care for the children. So the Irish courts decide the Doyle
children would be better in Church-run orphanages. Desmond along with help from an unconventional legal team challenges the Irish Constitution.
This movie is a true story that will tug at your heart!
Quotes: Michael Beattie: To fight church and state is to fight Goliath.
Desmond Doyle: Yeah, well, David beat Goliath in the book I read.
Nick Barron: The law and justice are two entirely different matters.
CAST: Pierce Brosnan, Stephen Rea, Julianna Margulies, Aidan Quinn, Alan Bates
The movie is rated PG due to smoking in pubs and mild profanity.

Leslie's Recipe & Recommendations
Tipsy Pudding With Mulled Wine By Leslie McGlynn (serves 8)
Ingredients 2 TBSP butter, softened 1 ½ cups bread crumbs 4 eggs, separated ¾ cup plus 2/3 cups superfine sugar 1 Tsp grated Lemon Zest 2-1/2 cups dry red wine Juice and wide strips of zest from 1 lemon Juice and wide strips of zest from 1 orange 4 whole cloves 1 stick cinnamon 1 cup heavy cream, whipped
Source: The country cooking of Ireland by Colman Andrews
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°
Grease 8 small souff lé dishes w ith butter. Coat the sides and bottoms of the
dishes evenly w ith about ¼ of the bread crumbs.
Beat the egg yolks, 6 Tbsp of the sugar and the grated lemon zest in a medium bow l w ith an electric mixer on medium speed until pale and frothy,
about 2 minutes.
In another medium bow l, beat the 4 egg w hites until stif f peaks form (3-4
minutes). Gradually add another 6 Tbsp of the sugar to the egg w hites and
beat for about 30 seconds. Add ¼ of the egg w hites to the egg yolk mixture
and stir.
Divide the batter evenly betw een the dishes and bake on a baking sheet for
about 25 minutes or until the puddings are cooked through and golden. Allow
the puddings to cool in the dishes for about 5 minutes, then turn them out onto
a rack and set aside to cool.
Meanw hile, combine the w ine, the remaining 2/3 cup of sugar, the lemon and
orange juices and zests, cloves and cinnamon in a medium saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat
to medium-low and simmer for about 10 minutes. Strain the w ine into a
medium bow l, discarding the solids, and set the w ine aside to cool.
Arrange the puddings side by side in an 8 x 12 baking dish, drizzle w ith the
mulled w ine, cover w ith plastic w rap, and set aside for about 3 hours to allow
the puddings to soak in some of the w ine.
Serve the puddings in individual bow ls, spooning some w ine over each one
and topping each w ith a spoonful of w hipped cream.
