From the President’s Desk

Dear Old Boy
Times flies… and even before we realize, moments become memories.
It feels like yesterday, I was a student at St. John’s High School…and
here I am, bestowed with the responsibility of reaching out to all old
boys across the globe.
Close your eyes for a minute and just think back, the smell of the classroom, the school bell the lunch break, the sports…everything will rush back as if we are still there in that moment.
We may not be part of the school anymore but the school remains
within us, a bond so strong that it spans across continents and through
lifetimes. The Winter Fest every year is one event which helps us rekindle
this bond and connects us to so many of our old boys.
Our reunion - The Winter Fest is a major event, which rekindles this
bond annually and brings us all together as one. I feel ecstatic to share
that Mrs Kavita Das, Principal, St. John’s High School has graciously
consented to the hosting of the Cultural Evening in the school. On
behalf of all of us, we have assured her that being St John boys we
truly understand that with great power come great responsibility and
that we will ensure that there is no drinking or smoking on the school
premises during the course of the event.
The Winter Fest this year is scheduled as follows:
24th Dec (Tuesday) - Back to School for Classes of 1969 and 1994
26th Dec (Thursday) – Play “Nothing Like Lear” in St. John’s High School
27th Dec (Friday) – Winter Ball – Gymkhana Club, Sector 1, MDC
Each year the host team works tirelessly to ensure that the Winter Fest
is truly special for each one of us. This year is no exception, its the
perfect time for all of us to get back to St. John’s with our families and
relive the special moments we have cherished, throughout these years.
We look forward to welcoming each one of you!

Kuantum Papers SJOBA Six-A Side Soccer Open Tournament, 2019

LOT OF FIRSTS:
• First Night Six-A Side Soccer tournament by SJOBA.
• First Open Event, resulting in 3 teams participating from OYA (Old Yadvindrian Association) and EVA (Ex Vivekites Association).
• First time 12 teams i.e. highest in the history of the tournament.
• First time, online tournament update tool used, where match results were updated in real time, the points and standings were always available to all those participating and spectating.
• And the final one, was the Intra Silver Jubilee Batch exhibition match where 10 players each of Section A and Section B from the Class of 1994 played.

The Diwali Sweets Distribution is an
initiative taken every year by St. John’s
and the Silver Jubilee batch of SJOBA.
This year, the Class of 1994 joined hands
with the alma mater, to express their
thanks and gratitude to the diligent
and tirelessly hard working Grade-D
employees, as they are the forces to
put St. John’s on a beautiful and
presentable pedestal.

The Association is immensely proud to share that under the able leadership of Mrs. Kavita Das, the foundation stone of the state of art 2000 seater auditorium has been blessed on 23.11.2019. The foundation stone was blessed by none other than Rt. Rev Ignatious Loyola Mascarenhas, Bishop of Shimla – Chandigarh Diocese.
Incidentally, on the same day, the School also celebtrated the Diamond Jubilee, 60 years of following the call of Blessed Edmund Ignatius Rice. The prayer service was led by the Bishop.
Some promiment guests at the prayer service included Mr. Manmohan Lal Sarin, Founder President, SJOBA; Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ajay Tewari President, SJOBA Foundation and Mr. Sorabh Tayal, President, SJOBA.
The school was also honoured with a special Postal Cover and Stamp that was released by the Indian Postal Department to mark this milestone. St. John’s has the unique distinction of being the only school in the country to have three Special Postal Covers to its name!!
Former President, Navpreet Aujla (Class of 1982) has graciously volunteered to bear 1 % of the cost of the auditorium.

From the Secretary’s Desk
GURNOOR SANGHA
Come December, and it is time of the year, when we celebrate our
brotherhood. To me, that brotherhood is represented by my batchmates
and all the old boys-young and old, who I have had the privilege to meet
through SJOBA in the past 10 odd years of being active in SJOBA.
Each year a new set of boys take on the responsibility of keeping the
flag of SJOBA flying high. This year we have been blessed to have got
together a very enthusiastic executive body. I am very thankful to each
one of them, since all complex events have been a breeze due to their
unconditional effort.
On behalf of the team, I extend a warm invitation to the entire association
to come join us for week of nostalgic fun. The entire executive team
2019-20 is looking forward to see you at the Winter Fest 2019.

In case you do not have your details, please click on request password, fill in the necessary information and we shall email the details to you. The passes would be available online from 15.12.2019 onwards.
OFFLINE PASS: The passes can also be collected in person from BR Ads, First Floor, SCO 14-15, Entry from backside (Above Deluxe Dhaba), Sector 28, Chandigarh from 22.12.2019 to 24.12.2019 from 11:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Lunch from 2:00 to 2:30 P.M). On 25.12.2019, passes can be collected only from 11:00 to 2:00 P.M.
