UP-Atmosphere
Eric AngatTeacher
Altitude is also known as height, and it is often used to refer to the height above sea level.
Temperature is the average speed (V) or the kinetic energy of the atoms for molecules in a substance.
Air pressure basically refers to the volume of air in a particular environment. On the earth's surface, for example, it is known as "atmospheric pressure" and refers to the weight of the earth's atmosphere pressing down on everything.
1. What are the LAYERS OF THE ATMOSPHERE?
Troposphere- weather
Stratosphere- ozone layer
Mesosphere- meteors burn
Thermosphere -hottest
2. What is the relationship between altitude and air pressure?
The higher you go the lower is the air pressure.

3. Find the air pressure at the following altitude?
5.5 km.7 miles
20 km.
50 km.
4. Find the temperature at the following altitude?
-35C-32F
-60C
-75 F

5.5 km.8 miles
48 km.
Nitrogen is the most abundant gas in the troposphere.
Oxygen is the air we breath.
5.What is the most abundant air in the atmosphere?
High pressure inside and outside the balloon. ( EQUILLIBRIUM)
High pressure inside the balloon and low pressure outside the balloon causes the balloon to expand.
Higher temperature in the stratosphere causes the balloon to expand even more.
6. Why do balloons pop in the upper atmosphere?
When the external pressure decreases, the volume increases (Boyles Law).
Cumulonimbus cloud-Thunderstorm cloud. -Can result to lightning, hail, and even tornadoes.
Vertical cloud
Clouds are found in the troposphere ( 0-7 miles or 0-11 km. )
7. Describe a cumulonimbus cloud.
Cumulonimbus clouds belong to the clouds with vertical growth group. They are generally known as thunderstorm clouds. A cumulonimbus cloud can grow up to 10km high. At this height, high winds will flatten the top of the cloud out into an anvil-like shape. Cumulonimbus clouds are associated with cold fronts heavy rain, snow, hail, lightning, and tornadoes.
8. Write the key words in describing cumulonimbus clouds. (red words)
