The Counselor in Training Program

offers summer camps for teens where

they can improve their organizational

skills, teaching techniques, and

motivational training to help them

become leaders. In addition to

preparing them to be counselors of

the future, the CIT Program will:

Facilitate the friendships they

will have for a lifetime

Prepare them for other

leadership roles in life

Give them experience they can

use for community service hours

or on their college applications

Candidates for the CIT Program are

chosen by the Camp Director and CIT

Director according to:

Past camper performance

References and recommendations

from teachers and/or coaches

Their telephone interview

Students who are at least 15 years

old by June 2014 and who have

completed the CIA Program in a

previous summer, OR, are 16 years

old or older and a first time

camper at River Way

Submit your application online

Include three references

Submit a supplemental questionnaire

(the questionnaire must be downloaded

and is not available for online completion)

Requires a telephone interview

Optional 3-minute creative video to

enhance your interview

Submit CIT application with minimum

$1000 deposit

Teens who participate in the

Campers in Action Program will

be prepared to work with younger

children while also attending

workshops on:

Increasing their

organizational skills

Learning teaching

techniques

Receiving motivational

training

Experiencing team building

The candidates who are

considered for the Campers

in Action Program must

have completed at least the

8th grade. Each candidate

will be evaluated by the

Senior Division Leaders and

CIA Director. Participants

in the CIA Program are not

required to have any

previous skills or

knowledge. The program is

designed to teach them

everything they need to

know to take on more

responsibility in the future.

Participants in both the CIT and CIA
