A BIT OF BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Order of the Little Sisters of Hoboken was founded in the seventh

century by Saint Wilfred, a bishop of England. He established the first

convent and school know as the Wilfred Academy. His motto was

“We don’t teach beauty-we radiate it!” Many years later a small group

of pioneering sisters set out for America to establish a motherhouse in

Cleveland. But they got off the plane in Newark by mistake. The order

was “found” by the Newark Airport Police and the new motherhouse was

established in Hoboken, New Jersey. It was at that time that the Order of

St. Wilfred elected to change the name to the Little Sisters of Hoboken and

they have been affectionately known as the “Little Hobos” ever since. It

was from this convent that Sister Mary Regina, Sister Mary Hubert and

Sister Robert Anne, set sail for the Mediterranean to establish their leper

colony. Today the order has both nuns and brothers as members-all doing

various good works in the Diocese of Newark. They also operate Mount

Saint Helen’s School in Hoboken.

Elizabeth Jane Charlton (Sister Mary Hubert, Mistress of Novices) attended Southeastern University (BA, Theatre). Her performance in Godspell (Peggy) led her to semi-finals for the Irene Ryan Scholarship (KCACTF). She studies improv at Groundlings and teaches music to kids. William A. Reilly (Musical Director) is one of the co-founders of CCTC. In addition to running the theatre, William has directed, produced, and musical directed many of the productions at CCTC including COMPLEAT FEMALE STAGE BEAUTY. William is also an accomplished composer, writing the music for the original musicals THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, FION THE FAIR, and OBSESSION. He also composed “Who Is This Man” for A BIG GAY NORTH HOLLYWOOD WEDDING, and has composed scores for multiple films and TV shows. William would like to thank his co-founder Gary Lamb, his friends and

family, and of course all the patrons that continue to support Crown City Theatre.

Lisaun Whittingham (Choreographer) is a member in good standing of both SAG and AEA. Lisaun’s CCT debut was in I’M JUST WHILE ABOUT HARRY as Ida Delahey. This is Lisaun’s 7th show with CCT. Her other CCT performances include Roberta in DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA and Woman 1 in I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE. Michael J. Marchak (Assistant Choreographer) is from Rhode Island by way of Philadelpia, Michael studied theatre and chemistry at USC. This is his first show with Crown City Theatre.
