Course 573: AFGHANISTAN BEFORE ISLAM : CROSSROADS OF ASIA .

1. Course Description

This course is designed to discuss Afghanistan from pre-historic times to fifth-sixth centuries A.D. as a meeting place of various cultures and civilizations. The history of the area is examined against this wider background of movements of peoples and ideas.

2. Lecture Schedule

See a provisional list attached.

3. Written Assignment and examination

Students will be assigned topics and a research paper will be expected from each of them. They will present their papers in the seminars for a discussion. Grading will be based on the quality of paper and its presentation.

4. Recommended Books
