University of Klagenfurt Technology Scholarships General Information The positive development of the regional labour market in the sector of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has resulted in an increasing demand for skilled professionals. The University of Klagenfurt is responding to this demand by training highly qualified specialists in the ICT sector and awarding the University of Klagenfurt Technology Scholarships, which aim at - increasing the number of highly qualified ICT professionals, - enhancing diversity in the Federal State of Carinthia and at the University of Klagenfurt, - increasing the number of international students at the University of Klagenfurt, and - promoting the University of Klagenfurt's internationalization efforts. In cooperation with the Carinthian Chamber of Commerce (WKO) and Federation of Austrian Industries (IV), scholarship holders will be supported in finding a paid internship in the first year of their Master's degree programme. Scholarship holders shall be enabled to finance the second year of their Master’s degree programme with a paid internship, which is part of the curriculum. Based on an agreement with the University of Klagenfurt the Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research - OeAD has published the call for applications and will accompany the selection process, award the scholarships and offer its services to the selected scholarship holders before and during their stay in Austria. University of Klagenfurt Technology Scholarships

General Information

Scholarship holders will be exempted from paying tuition fees for the Master’s degree programme at the University of Klagenfurt and will be provided assistance when booking accommodation and applying for student health insurance in Austria.

Application Procedure

Exclusively online at https://grants.at/ The following documents have to be uploaded with the online application:

✓ Completed application form for admission to one of the Master´s degree programmes listed above

✓ For applicants from non-EU countries/regions: Proof of admission to their selected programme of study at a state or state-recognised university in their home country/regions (“eligibility letter”)

✓ Bachelor Certificate* and Transcript of Records of Bachelor’s degree programme ✓ Complete Bachelor Thesis (copy of original) ✓ Abstract of Bachelor Thesis in German or English ✓ Proof of English skills: Level B2 (Common European Framework of Reference for

Languages, CEFR) ✓ Scan of passport (data page with name and photo) ✓ Two letters of recommendation by university lecturers from the university at which the

Bachelor’s degree is being pursued/was earned (not older than 6 months and stamped by the faculty/department)

*In the case that applicants haven't completed their Bachelor's degree at the time of application, a Transcript of Records will suffice.

Selection Procedure

The selection process consists of the following stages:

(1) Examination of the formal requirements (2) Assessment and evaluation of the application by experts (including a Skype interview) (3) Final decision by the University of Klagenfurt

Please note: The principle of competition applies to all scholarships, i.e. there is no legal entitlement to a scholarship even if all formal application requirements are fulfilled.

Further Information

OeAD scholarship holders will be able to book accommodation in a dormitory with the OeAD Housing Office. The monthly costs for accommodation in Klagenfurt are:

- monthly rent: approx. EUR 250 to 360* - monthly administrative fee: EUR 18*

* as of 2019, subject to change without notice

OeAD scholarship holders need to have health insurance that is accepted by the Austrian authorities for the duration of their stay in Austria. Please note that scholarship holders are not allowed to take up paid work in Austria while receiving an OeAD scholarship. Paid internships are permitted, as long as they are part of the curriculum and approved by the head of the degree programme and OeAD.

Alps-Adriatic Bachelor Scholarships of Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt

General Information Located in the Austrian state of Carinthia at the intersection of three cultures, Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt is a center of knowledge acquisition and transfer for the whole Alps-Adriatic region and beyond. Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt strives towards increasing cultural diversity and is highly committed to future development on an international level.

The Alps-Adriatic Bachelor Scholarships are awarded to highly qualified high-school graduates from third countries of the extended Alps-Adriatic region1 who wish to pursue a Bachelor’s degree programme2 at Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt.

Following an international call for applications, the best candidates will be selected in a multi-stage process involving a selected scholarship commission of the respective area of expertise.

Alps-Adriatic scholarship holders will:

• Gain access to excellent higher education opportunities in an international study

environment;

• Become part of a vibrant international campus;

• Join the international alumni network of Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt.

Target group Applicants must meet the requirements for admission to the selected Bachelor’s degree programme at Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt and must be able to prove that they have either very good

German or English language skills (depending on the target study programme). Given a sufficient number of applications, a balanced ratio of both male and female applicants will be considered.

Countries of origin Applicants must be citizens of one of the following third countries of the extended Alps-Adriatic region (in the EU priority region Western Balkans):

Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.

The applicants‘ place of residence at the time of application must be in a country other than Austria.

• Funded period per academic year: March-February (10 months). Scholarship will not be paid for months August and September.

• Scholarship period: max. 2 academic years (20 months)

• One-time lump sum for travel costs: between EUR 135,- and EUR 235,-4

• Scholarship holders will be exempted from paying tuition fees for a maximum of 7 semesters in the case of proven academic performance.

Scholarship holders will receive assistance by the International Office of Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt in applying for student health insurance in Austria. They can also attend a German semester course at a reduced fee.
