Meet Nobel Laureate Randy Schekman and Cal Performances’ Matias Tarnopolsky !On Friday, May 2nd, enjoy the opportunity to meet Berkeley’s latest Nobel Laureate, Randy Schekman, Professor of Molecular and Cell Biology, who last year won the 2013 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his role in revealing the machinery that regulates the transport and secretion of proteins in our cells. And then, on Friday, May 16th, Matias Tarnopolsky, Director of Cal Performances since 2009, will be our lecturer guest. He is particularly interested in how this rich and varied series featuring world-renowned musicians, dancers, singers, etc., fits into the overall aims of a world university. He has started a new project that combines classroom teaching with the programs presented. On both occasions join your friends at the wine and cheese reception 4:30 pm, followed by talk and discussion 5:00 pm. Members $10.00 and non members $15.00. (Why not stay on for dinner in the Kerr Dining Room?). Reserve online or at 643-0834.
