Universal healthcare entitles Americans to “free” healthcare that is regulated by the government. Which translates to poor quality, higher costs, less personal choice, more lawsuits, and less patient privacy.

“Free”

• Free can not be used.• Free = taxes and spending cuts• Higher taxes for middle and upper class• 50 million Americans did not have health

insurance in 2006• Illegal immigrants using our money

Quality

• Mandated procedures means less quality• Reduces doctor flexibility• Leads to poor service

Rationed

• Medicines or equipment may be rationed• Only given to certain lifestyle or grade of

person• Govt may regulate if someone needs an organ

transplant or pacemaker

• Patients may wait months or years• Patients will be forced to suffer or die while

waiting• Most Canadians come to America to receive

care

Malpractice lawsuits

• Malpractice lawsuits will raise.• Expose the govt to legal liability• The defendant has incentives

• Patient privacy will be lost• Due to centralized health info housed by the

government• Any doctor can see it

• Will be considered a right to the public• Nearly impossible to remove if becomes too

expensive• Will surpass defense or social security in cost

• In conclusion Universal healthcare is a bad idea because it oppresses Americans in a recession with higher taxes, lessens quality of our overall health, takes away all privacy, and costs the government extensive amounts of money, and rations what you can and cant have.
