2 Deccan Chronicle, is yet another testimony to our educated011

 stupidity.

Look around at all the so-called educated and qualified peoplecomplaining about their jobs or lack of jobs. What is theaccademic system teaching if it is not imparting anentrapreneurial spirit to take what has been taught, and giveback something value that society and the markets will pay for?

We have been taught to bend over backwards in our quest forfinding work, that jobs with big brand corporations is the holy

grail of human existance, the hights of civilization. Thisworks like a charm for corporations having their externalitieshushed.

Here is my take on the story: If those kids really believed thatthey could get to buy assurances of jobs with the big brands fora measly 2 INR, they are so stupid they deserved what they got.00  How they reacted to being duped, by ransacing the college;prooves they are incapable of handling the slightest stresssesand strains that they are likely to encounter in corporate life.

The college deserved what it got, too bad they were notavailable to comment. Our Chennai cops, The Stalwarts of Justice“camping in the collage” probably mooching free cigerattes andcoffee from the nearby shops are really going to investgate andresolve this crisis. Yeah, i can picture the company behind thejob fair hoax being brought to justice and making fairrestitution.

They will take each of the agrieved student by hand to the bigname corporation and say “here is the student we cheated, s/heransacked the college to bring us to justice- this indevidualwill be an asset par excellence in your exteemed enterprise”.

Really, when will our culture grow itself a pair of gutsywhatever it takes to have some conviction. Ah but this is thestate where we have government sponsored color TV for the underpreviledged. Like the government hospitals have no need forimprovement, and all the students in the government schools areall toppers the only thing lacking is a Color TV. –

Duped students ransack college

Feb. 19: Thousands of engineering and polytechnic college students from various parts of the state

on Saturday ransacked Sriram Engineering College, Vepp-ampattu, near here, as a private job

consulting firm in Tirumangalam in the city cheated students by collecting Rs 200 as fees to enable

them to take part in the job fair on Saturday which did not happen.

According to A. Priscilla, a third-year B.E. computer science student and one of those disappointed

 by the job fair not being held, said thousands of students started assembling at the college right

from 7 in the morning but were shocked to see the college deserted with nobody attending on them

or even answering their queries.

“As time passed, more number of students congregated at the college. Later in the day, the restless

students got agitated and started ransacking the college as the job fair turned out to be a hoax,” shesaid.

Prabha, another student, said the job consulting firm had promised to get them jobs in top

companies like Polaris, Larsen & Toubro, Toyota, etc. “The company collected Rs 200 from us at

their office in Thiruman-galam assuring us jobs in various companies but now we stand cheated and

the company is also closed. We don’t know what to do,” she said. Most of the trains and buses

 plying towards Tiruvallur and Arakkonam were full of students going to the college on Saturday.

“Several police officers are camping in the college to investigate the case,” a police officer at the

Tiruvallur SP’s office said when asked about the incident. However, the college and company

authorities were not available for comment.
