Provides up to $50,000 grants to NGOs and CBOs (Project duration: up to 3 years)
For community initiatives that address the GEF Focal areas
SGP compliments Regular and Medium-Sized GEF Project funding – window for NGO/CBO direct participation in GEF mandate
Has funded more than 3000 community-based projects
Funding Criteria Example from Uganda
Proponents: registered and recognized Ugandan CBO, NGO, or institution involved in community-level initiatives, aimed at promoting conservation of natural resources while at the same time improving local people’s livelihood.
