About this package

This package contains the templates to support you in executing NDIS readiness Tool 1 – Understanding external factors that influence our services under NDIS.

While you are able to use this package in isolation, note that it is designed to be completed with reference to the accompanying guide document. This document contains step by step guidance on what each step of the process is designed to achieve, instructions on how to complete it and what information is available to assist you.

This package contains the following templates:

Template B – Local area demand.

Template C – Local area supply.

Template D – SWOT analysis.

Template A – Framing the broader context

Overview:This template will help you frame the broader context of how the introduction of NDIS might impact providers. It will provide you with a structure for breaking down the complex and voluminous information available about NDIS into digestible pieces under discrete themes. This will make it easier to understand the impact of the broader context on your organisation.

The template is structured as a PEST analysis, which has been tailored to reflect the Queensland disability services context.

Dimension Description

Political, legislative and regulatory

Information relating to how shifts in government policy, regulations and legal issues might impact an organisation’s direction andoperations.

Economic and financial Information relating to how changes to economic and employment policies, and other economic issues might impact an organisation’s direction and financial position.

Social and community Information relating to how population, demographic and cultural trends and shifts might impact an organisation’s direction and client/ customer base.

Technology and practice Information relating to how evolving technology options and practice standards might impact an organisation’s direction and service model/ service offerings.

Overview:This template will help you explore and analyse demand for disability services in your the local area. It will provide you with a structure for breaking down this information into digestible pieces under discrete stakeholder groups. The Local market data search tool (at the following web address) will be a useful tool to assist you with the required research.

The template focuses on Participants, the first stakeholder group within the local market model.

Participants Information relating to current or potential customers for the services you provide. Pre-NDIS, you will have considered them clients; individually allocated funding means they will operate more as customers.
