Analyzing and interpreting data
Evidence of common ancestry and diversity
Scale, proportion, and quantity
Connections to nature of science
Interdependent relationships in ecosystems
Children will travel back in time to an unforgettable & immersive world. By using various tool & techniques, students will discover
fossils & uncover the mysteries of our prehistoric past, when the dinosaurs roamed the earth.
• Students analyze and compare what we know about living organisms (and how we know it) with how we learn about organisms
that lived long ago from fossil evidence.
• Some kinds of plants and animals that once lived on Earth are no longer found anywhere.
• How the form of an organism’s structure (e.g., shape/number of teeth, size of bones, etc.) provides evidence on what the
organism was like.
• The students examine the fossil remains, such as tail shape and head shape, and decide if they give clues to how the animal lived.
Common Core State Standards Connections
• 3-LS4-1: Analyze and interpret data from fossils to provide evidence of the organisms and the environments in which they lived long ago.
• 3-LS4.A: Fossils provide evidence about the types of organisms that lived long ago and also about the nature of their environments.
• RI.3.3: Describe the relationship between a series of historical events, scientific ideas or concepts, or steps in technical
procedures in a text, using language that pertains to time, sequence, and cause/effect.
• W.3.8: Recall information from experiences or gather information from print and digital sources; take brief notes on sources
and sort evidence into provided categories
• 3.MD.B.4: Generate measurement data by measuring lengths
• MP.5: Use appropriate tools strategically.
This dramatic play site includes animal and safari costumes, as well as archeologist tools.
• Builds Confidence & Creative Communications: Role play is an important part of child development, as it builds confidence,
creativity communication, physical development and problem solving. Along with being a fun activity, it also allows children to
get into character and act out real life roles or fictional performances.
• Self-Regulation: Preschoolers are known for acting with impulse, so dramatic play is a great stepping stone for learning to self-
regulate their emotions and actions. Interestingly, when children assign and accept roles in dramatic play they are motivated to
stick to them, thinking of them as rules to follow. Their own rules. this helps them develop the ability to coordinate and plan
with others as well as control their impulses.
Structure, function and information processing
Biological evolution: Unity and diversity
Spatial awareness with Proprioceptive dynamic activities
Developing lifelong social skills

AREA: RAWR2GO SAFARI JEEP WITH TOUCH SCREEN
Come explore the depths of the jungle by jumping in the RAWR2GO Safari Jeep. The interactive touch screen panel gives children
the opportunity to experience what it’s like to come across a variety of plants and dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes!
• Proprioceptive Dynamic Activities like climbing can dramatically, and quickly, improve core executive functions related
to working memory.
• Relieves Emotional Tension: Dramatic play offers a safe place for children to act out real life situations. Adults tend to
cope with dramatic events by retelling it again and again. Children cope with dramatic events by acting them out.
• Creative Communication: Allows them to act out real life situations and get creative! It increases a child’s ability to
positively interact with others, giving them the responsibility to act accordingly effectively disguising learning as play!
• Fosters cognitive and physical development that allows their minds to work while they do things with their hands.
Touching is the root of STEAM learning and the best part, children don’t realize it’s happening because it’s fun.
• Encourages Language Development: Dramatic play teaches and encourages expressive language. Children are motivated to
communicate their wishes to their peers and therefore must learn to speak from the perspective of their pretend roles.
Dramatic play is often a very comfortable place for children who are shy or withdrawn to participate in a group.
• Teaches Conflict Resolution: Both unstructured and structured dramatic play offer teachable moments about conflict
resolution. Inevitably, disagreements will naturally arise during dramatic play, which offers children a chance to work through
their differences and arrange a compromise. It also encourages children to consider alternate perspectives as they recognize
various roles of people in their lives and communities.
• Empowering to Children: This is not only because children can assign and accept their own roles in the play setting, but
also because dramatic play offers a safe play for children to act out traumatic experiences. Typically, when children act out
dramatic or frightening experiences thy place themselves in a powerful role.
