UMB PerformanceUMB system combines the best aspects of CDMA, TDM, LS-OFDM, OFDM, and OFDMA into a single air interface using sophisticated control and signaling mechanisms and advanced antenna techniques:

Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) and Space Division Multiple Access (SDMA)Will deliver ultra-high mobile broadband performance*:

Forward link: up to 291 MbpsReverse link: up to 79 Mbps

Average network latency: Around 17 msec end-to-end (32-bit, RTT) to support of VoIP and other delay sensitive applications Voice over IP (VoIP): Between 250 to 500 simultaneous VoIP users (5 to 10MHz FDD allocations)Will enable the convergence of IP-based voice, broadband data, multimedia, information technology, entertainment and consumer electronic servicesCommercial availability is expected in 2009

3G CDMA system can be upgraded to support an UMB network Coverage: link budget analysis shows both UMB system can be co-sited with the 3G CDMA network.Interoperability: UMB should have better active handoff performance with 3G CDMA.Roaming: UMB users can roam on 3G legacy systems globally when there is no Next Generation coverage

UMB will launch rich data applications and services to allow operator to capture new revenue streams or reduce cost

UMB Link Budget and VoIP Capacity

The 3G CDMA system can be upgraded to support UMB network. • Current 3G installed sites can be reused when moving into Next Generation network. • The UMB LB is very similar to 3G DO Rev A with a path loss about 1dB less than DO Rev A in

the limiting reverse link case.
