The Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of Saint James, is the name used to refer to all the routes that lead to where the apostle Saint James the Great is said to be buried. The Camino has been one of the most important Christian Pilgrimage for well over 1,000 years and it has started a new international rebirth.
The Camino is a journey to the religious and historical roots of Europe, it’s traveling through beautiful countryside and timeless villages, it’s rediscovering the pleasure of being in direct contact with nature.
But it is also an invitation, we invite you by walking the Camino with us to rediscover yourself through introspection and new encounters, to change habits that have been making you unhappy, to build unexpected friendships and give yourself new challenges.
OUR GUIDE TO CHOOSING YOUR CAMINO
We offer three ranges of tours along the three most popular routes to Santiago de Compostela - in blue - , plus day tours along the Finisterre Way.However there are many other historical routes - in green - to choose from and if you wish to receive your Compostelana (the certificate of accomplishment) you need to walk at least the last 100km or cycle/horse-ride the last 200km into Santiago - the pin - from any direction.
“They say the best gift of the Camino is the wonderful person or persons you encounter, and you were no exception even though we had met online several months before my Camino began. Thank you for ALL the
arrangements you made for us.” Victor from Edmonton, Canada - September 2016
“Thank you for finding these great places! The walk was magical- we especially loved the trees - oak, chestnut and eucalyptus! And the granaries of course! We are glad we have chosen this path with you!
Love,” Lauri and Joani from Albuquerque, USA - September 2016

CLASSIC
2 to 4* hotels and luxurious guest-houses on the Camino. This is our standard level of comfort for our most popular tours. For groups & solo travelers.
BASIC
1 to 3* hotels and Albergues (private hostels). This level of comfort is now only available on request for partner travel agencies who request it or for groups.
LUXURY
The best accommodation there is on the Way and Northern Spain. These are our signature tours which we recommend to groups or individuals looking for a exceptional experience.
OUR 3 COMFORT LEVELS
WALKING
The traditional way to reach Santiago. Walking gives you time to really take in the journey, it is more social and great exercise so sometimes you should stick to the approved Classics.
BICYCLE & HORSE-RIDING
The Certificate of Achievement, the Compostela, can be obtained by cycling the last 200 km or horse-riding the last 100 km into Santiago de Compostela. So, why not experience the Way on a horse or bike?
ULTREYA
Carefully crafted coach and train tours that allow you to discover the highlights of each route in a shorter time. Includes stays in 4 to 5* hotels, private transportation, guides and walks everyday.
OUR 3 TRANSPORTATION MEANS
FRENCH WAY
The most historical and by far the most internationally recognized Camino thanks to the movie “The Way” with Martin Sheen and “The Pilgrimage” by Paulo Coelho. Filled with a thousand years of pilgrimage culture & architecture, great landscapes and a very special atmosphere.
PORTUGUESE WAY
The second most popular Camino. Follows the Portuguese and Spanish Coast North towards Santiago de Compostela. Offers breathtaking panoramic views, beautiful cities, excellent food & accommodation and the proximity of the beach on most days.
OUR OTHER ROUTES
In Medieval times, people would start their Camino from their doorstep, wherever that was in Europe. So, you don’t need to stick to the most popular route, just the one that attracts you most.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON OUR TOURS?Expect to have a wonderful time! We designed our services around personal experiences of the Camino, client feedback and recommendations so your group can have the best experience possible along the Way. Take your time to travel through beautiful Galician green countryside, timeless villages and rediscover the pleasure of being in direct contact with nature. The Camino is our way of life and we love to share it.
BUILD THE CAMINO OF YOUR DREAM
At Ultreya Tours, we know each Camino is unique and everyone has their notion of the Camino de Santiago. Whatever you would like to complete your pilgrimage, we can help, whether it is walking, cycling, horse-riding, having a support van, a guide or self-guided. You can decide to walk as part of a group you brought along, join one of our Guided Departure or walk by yourself.
SLEEP IN THE BEST ACCOMMODATION ALONG THE WAY FOR YOUR BUDGET AND REQUIREMENT
We take particular pride in the quality of our accommodation. To ensure your group only stays in the best accommodation along the Way, we regularly visit and rate all our providers. We offer three different types of comfort levels to suit your group’s budget and expectations. Choose where you want to sleep from budget hostels to charming and luxurious Galician manors and historical 5* hotels. All provide a welcoming and authentic experience but with different levels of comfort and service.Everyday as the group changes accommodation they will find their suitcase left behind travels with them. Afternoons are usually free to allow the group to relax, visit the local village, enjoy a drink in a terrace or join one of our pre-booked activities. Most nights, you will be in the heart of a town and others you will enjoy the peace of the countryside. However, you will never be far away from the Camino and always in a area full of history.
EAT FRESH, DELICIOUS & TRADITIONAL MEALS
Most of our tours include Dinners and Breakfast, but as our tours are fully customizable, we can add lunches or cancel all meals. Dinners will be either served at your hotel or at a local nearby restaurant, whichever offer the best quality meals according to your specifications. Expect mouth-watering traditional three-course meals with several choices prepared with the best fresh and local products. Local wine can be included at dinner on request. Lunch is usually not included to allow you to stop whenever you feel you need a break or to enjoy quality time with the new friends you made along the Way. We cater for vegetarians, vegans and any special dietary requirements or allergies. Just let us know beforehand so we can advise the chefs but remember if the allergy is severe always remind your waiter before ordering just in case.

Walk the last 106 km of the ancient Roman Gold Trade Route, from Ourense to Santiago with an average of 13 km (8 miles) per day, staying in beautiful and peaceful guest-houses on the Camino de Santiago or 2 to 4* hotels in town centers. The Sanabrés Route, also known as the Mozárabe Route is the last stretch of the Via de la Plata which goes through Ourense instead of Astorga. It is one of the least known route to Santiago but maybe the most beautiful and interesting. You will start in the Roman Termal City of Ourense, walk through oak and eucalyptus forests towards one of the most important Monasteries in the region and a Sacred Mountain - El Pico Sacro - before entering Santiago de Compostela, the City of the Apostle Saint James, via what is probably the most scenic way.
