Daddy's Little Girl Kitten, I know that you are going through a very hard time in your life right now. You are struggling to get your family together after many years, and finally becoming a whole person trying to make a better life for your children. One that will meet all the standards of the Lord. It is a very hard road to walk down. It is not the "Yellow Brick Road " from the Wizard of OZ it is the "Rocky Road " of life that you must walk, and there is no end. Each step you take, leads to another rock that may cause you to lose your bal-ance. I wish that there was some way I could take each step for you, but that is not the way it is, all I can do is walk along side of you and help you back up, if you stumble. It is the only thing that you can do for your chil-dren also, when it is their turn. No Parent can make the tedious trek for them, everyone has to walk it themselves. My wish and every parents wish is that we can absorb the pain and suf-fering the "Road of Life" brings to our children, but again that is impossible, we can only share it, not take it away. I will make a promise to you as you walk down that hard road, my promise is: 1. I will always be by your

side no matter how tough the going is. 2. I will always have a shoulder for you to lean on. 3. I will always help you up if you stumble. 4. I will always have a tissue to wipe away your tears. 5. I will ALWAYS LOVE YOU Til Time is No More. Thank You for being my Daugh-ter and making this Fathers Day

VERY SPECIAL You are and will always be "Daddy's Little Girl" All My Love Forevermore Dad

Meanest Dad Around

Some people may think that I am exagger-

ating, but I was sure that my Dad had to be

one of the meanest Dads around. He didn't even care, "What the

other kids were getting to do." My Dad had his

rules and he meant them! Dad always

strongly believed that: Allowances are to be earned Good grades are to be made The truth is

to be told Pets are to be fed To fight in the car is to ask for trouble Muscles are to exercised Chores

are to be completed And that hard work never hurt anybody! But, Dad

didn't just tell me to do these things. He showed me how to do

them and smiled when I got it right. Come to think about it, I am turning out okay. Maybe my Dad's kind of meanness just meant he

really loved me . . . loved me enough to make sure I did what was RIGHT. Some day my kids may think that I'm the meanest

parent around. You know, it

What’s Up with Dads & Baseball? wouldn't be so bad if they did -- and for the very

same reasons! Jerry & Sandi Knode copyright 1990

The Lord's Baseball Bob was caught up in the spirit where he and the Lord stood by to observe a baseball game. The Lord's team was playing Satan's team. The Lord's team was at bat, the score was tied zero to zero, and it was the bottom of the 9th inning with two outs. They continued to watch as a batter stepped up to the plate whose name was Love. Love swung at the first pitch and hit a single, because Love never fails. The next batter was named Faith, who also got a single because Faith works with Love. The next batter up was named Godly wisdom. Satan wound up and threw the first pitch; Godly Wisdom looked it over and let it pass, because Godly Wisdom does not swing at Satan's pitches. Ball one. Three more pitches and Godly Wisdom walked, because Godly wisdom never swings at Satan's throws. The bases were loaded. The Lord then turned to Bob and told him He was now going to bring in His star player. Up to the plate stepped Grace. Bob said he sure did not look like much! Satan's whole team relaxed when they saw Grace. Thinking he had won the game, Satan wound up and fired his first pitch. To the shock of everyone, Grace hit the ball harder than anyone had ever seen. But Satan was not worried; his center fielder, the Prince of the air, let very few get by. He went up for the ball, but it went right through his glove, hit him on the head and sent him crashing on the ground; then it continued over the fence for a home run! The Lord's team won. The Lord then asked Bob if he knew why Love, Faith, and Godly Wisdom could get on base but could not win the game. Bob answered that he did not know why. The Lord explained, "If your love, faith and wis-dom had won the game you would think you had done it by yourself. Love, faith and wisdom will

get you on base, but only My grace can get you home. My grace is the one thing Satan cannot stop."

MOVIES YOU SHOULD SEE!

Rio RIO is an animated comedy about Blu, a cockatoo who was sto-len from his native homeland of Rio de Janeiro when he was a newborn. Having grown up as a pet, Blu has

become very sheltered and domesticated, never even learning to fly. After a horrible kidnapping experience by smug-glers when he was young, Blu was fortunate enough to be found be a good owner, Linda. Since then, Blu has a good life. Linda's small Min-nesota apartment is his kingdom. In that tiny, sheltered place, Blu rules the roost. One day, a Brazilian scientist comes to Linda's door and tells her they would like to take Blu back to Brazil because Blu is the last male bird of his particular species and the scientist needs Blu to mate with a female of his species before that breed of cockatoo is extinct. Linda, much like Blu, is very sheltered and fears the larger world, but decides to go with Blu to Brazil so he can mate with this other bird. Once they arrive, Blu is put into a cage with Jewel, the last female of their kind. The two birds do not hit it off, especially as Jewel learns Blu is just a domestic pet who cannot even fly. That night, smugglers break into the aviary, chain Blu and Jewel together by the feet and steal them. While Linda tirelessly searches the streets of Rio for her lost bird, Blu and Jewel manage to break free of the smugglers. Chained together, Blu and Jewel must outwit the smugglers and their villain-ous cockatoo who are hot on their trail. RIO is a fun, action-filled animated comedy with some fun characters and enjoyable twists and turns. However, the movie contains a strong moral worldview with elements of heroism, cour-age, friendship, and sacrifice as well as a mild allegory of God's pursuit for his lost children as Linda searches for Blu, her lost bird. Also, Rio’s fabulous mountaintop statue of “Christ, Our Re-deemer” is overtly displayed throughout the movie.

Where Do I Go? A House of Hope Novel by

Neta Jackson

For everyone who loves the best-selling Yada Yada Prayer Group novels comes a brand new series sprinkled with familiar faces and places from the Yada Yada world. It’s the perfect novel to start with—or to meet friends from past Yada stories. Gabrielle Fairbanks has nearly lost touch with the carefree, spir-ited young woman she was when she married her husband fifteen years ago. But when the couple moves to Chicago to accommo-date Philip’s ambition, Gabby longs for the chance to find real purpose in her own life. A chance encounter with a homeless woman suddenly opens a door she never expected. The women of Manna House Women’s Shelter need a Program Director—and she has the right credentials. Gabby’s in her element, feeling God’s call on her life at last, even though Philip doesn’t like the changes he sees in her. But she never anticipated his ultima-tum: quit your job at the shelter or risk divorce and losing custody of our sons. In this moment, Gabby’s entire foundation shifts. She must find refuge, as in the song they sing at Sunday worship: “Where do I go when there’s no one else to turn to … I go to the Rock I know that’s able, I go to the Rock.” Romantic Times Book Reviews says, “Exquisite characters coupled with God's mercy and love emanate from each page.” Publisher's Weekly adds, “Jackson's Yada Yada series has sold half a million copies, and this new offshoot series ... promises the same.... The book's dramatic ending ... leav[es] readers eager for the next installment in the se-ries.” But you don't have to wait until September 2009 for more Yada Yada. Be sure to order Dave's parallel novel, Harry Bentley's Second Chance, A Yada Yada Brothers Novel.

Mommy, Listen to Me! A mother and her five-year-old son were talking about what he learned in kindergarten that day. The mother let her mind wander while her son was speaking. He began tapping on her knee and said, "Mommy, listen to me!" "But I am listening," replied the mother. "No, you’re not," said her son, "You’re not in your eyes."

The Dawn of Routine There is an old story about a mother who saw her six-year-old son and finds him sobbing. "What's the matter?" she asks. "I've just figured out how to tie my shoes." "Well, honey, that's won-derful." Being a wise mother, she recognizes his victory in the Eriksonian struggle of autonomy versus doubt: "You're growing up, but why are you crying?" "Because," he says, "now I'll have to do it every day for the rest of my life."

Staying Attached in Marriage

While browsing in a Christian bookstore one day, I discovered a shelf of "reduced price" items. Among the gifts was a little figu-rine of a man and woman, their heads lovingly tilted toward one another. "Happy 10th Anniversary" read the inscription. It ap-peared to be in perfect condition, yet its tag indicated "damaged." Examining it more closely, I found another tag un-derneath and chuckled—"Wife is coming unglued."

Pope John Paul II Speaks to Youth Week Twenty-Two You will be my witnesses... (Acts 1:8) "Dear young people, proclaiming the Word of God is not the responsibility of priests or religious alone, but it is yours too. You must have the courage to speak about Christ in your families and in places where you study, work or recreate... There are places and circumstances where you alone can bring the seed of God's Word." --Pope John Paul II, World Youth Day VII

Think About That Where are the places that "you alone" can share God's word with others? Are there people you know through school or work or sports or other activities that you can reach better than anyone else? Sharing God's word with them is a special thing you can do. Take Action Identify one person that you can share God's word with at school, at home, at work, or in some other place. Take time this week to talk with this person and share something of God's word with them. You may share something you read in the Bible or you may want to simply say kind words to them. Say A Prayer Lord, grant me the courage to accept the unique role I have in sharing your word with others. Grant me, also, the courage to share your word, to not be afraid to do so. Did You Know? John Paul II was installed as the Archbishop of Krakow, Poland, on March 8, 1964.

Taken from...My Dear Young Friends: Pope John Paul II Speaks to Youth on Life, Love, and Courage My Dear Young Friends, a collection of fifty-two weekly reflections on living in the Spirit, invites young people to read and act on Pope John Paul II's inspiring addresses to young people gathered at annual World Youth Day celebrations. Upcoming Events!

Saint Justin Martyr Also known as Justin the Philosopher Memorial 1 June formerly 14 April Profile Pagan philosopher who con-verted at age 30 by reading the Scriptures and witnessing the heroism and faith of martyrs. Used his philosophical and oratorical skills to dispute with pagans and explain the faith, becoming one of the first great Christian apolo-gists. He opened a school of public debate in Rome, Italy. All this naturally brought him to the attention of the au-thorities, and he died a martyr. This Saint, who was from Neapolis of Palestine, was a follower of Plato the philosopher. Born in 103, he came to the Faith of Christ when he was already a mature man, seek-ing to find God through philosophy and human rea-soning. A venerable elder appeared to him and spoke to him about the Prophets who had taught of God not through their own wisdom, but by revelation; and he led him to knowledge of Christ, Who is the fulfillment of what the Prophets taught. Saint Justin soon became a fervent follower of Christ, and an illustrious apologist of the Evangelical teachings. To the end of his life, while preaching Christ in all parts, he never put off his philoso-pher's garb. In Rome, he gave the Emperor Antoninus Pius (reigned 138-161) an apology wherein he proved the innocence and holiness of the Christian Faith, persuading him to relieve the persecution of Christians. Through the machinations of Crescens, a Cynic philosopher who envied him, Saint Justin was beheaded in Rome in 167 under Antoninus' succes-sor, Marcus Aurelius (reigned 161-180). Besides his defense of Christian-ity (First and Second Apologies), Saint Justin wrote against paganism (Discourse to the Greeks, Hortatory Address to the Greeks), and refuted Jewish objections against Christ (Dialogue with Trypho) Born c.100 at Nablus, Palestine Died beheaded in 165 at Rome, Italy; relics in the Capuchin church, Rome Canonized Pre-Congregation Patronage apologists, lecturers, ora-tors, philosophers, speakers
