Everybody belongs. You’ll feel it when you’re
on campus. Students make friends at summer
orientation, even before the first semester begins.
Athletic teams and campus organizations offer
instant bonds. All this networking expands
your world in a hurry. Everybody knows it: the
possibilities are unlimited at UC, and you’re
in the middle of it all.
Thinking big is built into the UC culture. You’re doing cutting-
edge research in genomics. You’re performing for a crowd.
You’re traveling to Belize to study small mammals in a tropical
forest. You’re interning with an IT firm in Louisville or for a
prominent senator in D.C. You’re going somewhere.

Drink it in. The nearby 1600-plus-acre

Cumberland Gap is only an hour away.
And there’s a world beyond to see, too.
Study abroad in Costa Rica or Dublin

On campus, take in the tailgating, intramural sports,

Craft your own adventure. Because
our classes are small, UC professors can
provide support that is not available at larger
universities. They don’t tell you what to think;
they teach you how to analyze, think critically,
and find out what you need to know to go
where you want to go.
Advising mentors help you decide on your major and
course of study. Peer leaders help you adjust to college.
Enjoy free academic support and even specialized
academic support if you are a scholar athlete. A new
career coaching program offers individual guidance in
career decision-making, preparing for internships, and
finding employment after graduation.

Show your character. Over spring
break, work with a team of students and a
professor through the Mountain Outreach
program. Through this nationally recognized
program, UC students have built more than
150 houses since the organization began in
1982. No construction skills? Not a problem.
UC students are quick learners.
Watch your faith grow and your interpersonal skills
skyrocket as you get involved in giving back to those
around you. Our students are so on fire they even train
other college students in starting missional activities.

I love to work with students over spring break with the Mountain Outreach program. To see the students unite in service is really something. They just seem to find the weak spots and then find ways to lift those people up. I get to see a different side of them.

Sample the buffet. With more than 40
clubs and organizations who hang around
on the weekends, the UC campus is busy.
Students like to get out of their bubbles and
make friends from different parts of campus.
The UC campus is closely-knit, but still large
enough to meet someone new every day.
Join a club, an honors society, an intramural team, a
house council, or all of the above. Remember that it’s
not just about making friendships; it’s about building
skills in leadership, communication, teamwork,
planning, and more. Find out who you are. Along
the way, find your people. Keep them close at your
side. They’ll be your backbone and support as you
transition to college life and even beyond.

Let your connections work. A student
takes a political science class and is
encouraged to apply for an internship with
a representative in D.C. The internship
changes her career plans. A chemistry
major asks a professor to write a letter of
recommendation for pharmacy school.
She says she would have been disappointed
if he hadn’t asked.
An alum says his undergraduate classes at UC pushed
him to be a better thinker. He also learned to see
things globally, not just from his little corner of the
world. He thinks he’s now a better attorney because
of it. Let UC make your difference.
