This technology has not kept pace with our application demands, and a new approach is needed.

UCS Invicta (based on the Whiptail solution, a recent acquisition by Cisco), introduces a pure flash-based application acceleration solution targeted at your customers' most demanding applications. This new solution can accelerate applications while reducing overall costs and complexity in your customers' data center environments. UCS Invicta, combined with Cisco's UCS servers, creates a very powerful message for you, and a comprehensive solution for your customers' application requirements. Course DescriptionThe Cisco UCS Invicta Solid State Appliances and Scaling Systems are new products in the Cisco Data Center product portfolio as a result of the recent acquisition of Whiptail by Cisco. The products are extremely high performance, scalable persistent memory platforms running the unique UCS Invicta operating system most suitable for enhancing high performance appli-cations that demand high IO and throughput with low latency. Applications such as batch processing, database loads, analytics and intelligence, VDI, online transaction processing, and video transcoding can benefit from the acceleration and optimization these solid state storage platforms provide This course explores in detail how to position these products with your customers and further explores Flash memory technology and its use and benefits compared with hard disk drive-based platforms. This one-day class discusses the optimizations to Flash technology that UCS Invicta OS delivers and the system architecture of the Cisco UCS Invicta Applianc-es and Scaling Systems that provide a unique scale up and scale capability. Some aspects of System installation and administration are examined both in lecture and practice labs to provide the user with familiarization of the features and capabilities through the manage-ment interface. Connectivity, management, positioning, and integration with Cisco UCS are also discussed in some detail.

Who Should Attend?This service provides design and configuration recommendations for the UCS Invicta platform. Systems, storage, and server architects, engineers, administrators, and support teams are typical recipients of this service.


Service OutcomeThe specific deliverables of this service include:

• Initial setup and configuration of the UCS Invicta solution• Configuration of system HA• Guided configuration of initial storage nodes and volumes• Configuration of asynchronous replication (if required)• Accelerated, targeted training for your storage and server teams

Upon completion of this project, up to 2 UCS Invicta Appliances, and a UCS Invicta Scaling Array solution consisting of 2 Routers and 2 Nodes, will be installed and configured to a state of operational readiness, with your key IT staff equipped to perform typical daily man-agement tasks.

Prerequisites / AssumptionsThis service is delivered at the customer site location. The customer supplies all necessary equipment, software, and licenses. Required network and storage resources must be available at time of the engagement. Appropriate maintenance time must be agreed and scheduled to ensure minimal disruption to production systems, which is determined by the customer. Equipment will be physically installed in the appropriate cabinet or rack, with access to required power and network connectivity.
